hey! you live in poland right? im thinking of visiting warsaw in october, any recommendations of things to do while im there?

Warsaw Old Town - I've been there countless times and it still amazes me with how beautiful it is and the vibe and all... if you're into museums, there's the Royal Castle, Museum of Warsaw (on the main square), and the Museum of Toys and Dollhouses, as well as the cathedral

you asked the gothest mf on this side of the Vistula so I'm going to recommend seeing the Powązki Cemetery, it's old and big and in october you're gonna have the additional halloween vibe. that or the Jewish Cemetery right next to it though I sadly haven't been there specifically

if you wanna see like the Fancy Trendy Places then that's the Chmielna and Nowy Świat streets, there's like restaurants and shit there. a rly good bubble tea place that the Youths go to (Pij Herbatę). a pączki place. vietnamese bars. yknow the drill

more museums: National Museum, National Museum of Etnography, Museum of Asia and the Pacific, but here you are probably gonna find more recs on some site like Atlas Obscura bc. yeah. it's specifically for tourists

more random places: Park Saski, Łazienki Królewskie, Iluzjon Cinema (they play old and/or niche movies, check if there's anything in a language you understand that interests you), Worek Kości (Bag of Bones) cocktail bar (they have exactly the vibe you'd expect from that name), Wilanów Palace, the botanical garden in Powsin (right next to Warsaw and Wilanów specifically), Kampinos National Park (on the other side of Warsaw)

that's all that came to my mind for now but I'm almost sure something will pop in there in like three hours or maybe three days so stay tuned

I left Warsaw today and went on a hike at Kampinos National Park. I walked circa 3 hours across verdant nature feeling so so peaceful. I needed this time. It's a huge park, averaging 35.500 hectares, and populated with elks and lynxes; hopefully, the latter only feed on ruminants! I heard some weird sounds indeed so I got myself a stretch of wood, just in case lol. I'll take it back to France! The other day, I had also collected some nice pine cones. Besides audio logs which I'm used to doing, I recorded a video of a spot where I spent a lot of time seated on a tree trunk, but I kept talking and now I'm too bashful to publish it :( Anyway, it's definitely a spot I'll remember about.

Afterwards, I went back to my favorite church, Saint Florian's cathedral. I remained there for a long time once again until, suddenly, all the lights were turned on.. gosh, I knew was in for another mass! Moments before, I thought I couldn't attend a mass at this church and.. it happened. I came out feeling happy and thankful.

Moose Garden, Sweden (No. 6)

By the early 20th century, the last strongholds of the European moose appeared to be in Fennoscandian areas and patchy tracts of Russia, with a few migrants found in what is now Estonia and Lithuania. The USSR and Poland managed to restore portions of the range within its borders (such as the 1951 reintroduction into Kampinos National Park and the later 1958 reintroduction in Belarus), but political complications limited the ability to reintroduce it to other portions of its range. Attempts in 1930 and again in 1967 in marshland north of Berlin were unsuccessful. At present in Poland, populations are recorded in the Biebrza river valley, Kampinos, and in Białowieża Forest. It has migrated into other parts of Eastern Europe and has been spotted in eastern and southern Germany.

Unsuccessful thus far in recolonizing these areas via natural dispersal from source populations in Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Czech Republic and Slovakia, it appears to be having more success migrating south into the Caucasus. It is listed under Appendix III of the Bern Convention.

In 2008, two moose were reintroduced into the Scottish Highlands in Alladale Wilderness Reserve.

A pack of wolves has recently settled in the Kampinos National Park on the outskirts of Warsaw, as the species continues to rebound in Poland after being granted strict protection in 1998.

The animals had previously been culled to near extinction before and after World War Two. While that is no longer a threat, conservationists are now concerned about cases of live wolf cubs being taken by members of the public.
