Camp Cretaceous Countdown: Favorite Quote

We come to the end of the countdown, folks. In twenty-four hours, the third chapter of this saga begins--and it’s going to follow the same pattern as every moment above. The kids are going to survive, because this story is about survival, but even beyond that: 

It’s about salvation.

 It’s the story of a boy who has already been visited by death, now living on an island filled with death, an island itself doomed to die: but because Darius is here, they’re all going to survive. They’re going to live, they’re going to go home, because that’s what matters here: one child not having to watch a loved one die.

So when Darius says this line, when he makes this promise, he is etching the thesis of the entire show into the story’s foundations. It’s not the most dazzling quote, it’s not hilarious, it’s not even the line with the best delivery in the show...but it’s the thesis of Camp Cretaceous.

Day 3: Favourite ship - Yasammy

Choosing any favorites in this show is so hard. I love Benji and Yasammy the same, but went with the girls this time, because otherwise I feared I would turn this event into the Kenji appreciation month.  Also those two are just so so cute.

Kenji and Yaz headcannons!

- Their friendship is really neat bc they’re the two oldest ones of the fam and yet they’re complete opposites, with Yaz being the “adult” of the group and Kenji being...well, Kenji.

- While Kenji sucks at algebra, he can do multiplications at lightning speed. Yaz was a math genius until she met fractions and well...let’s say that was her downfall.

- They play arm wrestling, and Yaz always wins. 

- They have the longest convos in the Camp Fam gc at unholy hours of the night. That usually continues with Brooklynn choosing sides (”B what are u doing here” “I’m editing, Kenji”) and Sammy trying to calm everyone down. Sometimes they wake Ben up, which means that if you see “Ben is typing” you better run bc he’s writing a lenghtly text about how they need to shut up and stop waking him up at 3 AM. Darius wakes up to 300 new messages, an essay from Ben and a private text from Brooklynn saying “dude wake up they’re fighting again”.

- Yaz can lift Kenji up I’m not elaborating on this

- Kenji, Yaz and Ben once competed on who can climb a tree faster. Both of them fell off after like 10 seconds and Ben won. They do not acknowledge the race ever again.

- Yaz finds out about the “city boy” thing and has a laughing fit for about three hours.

- (Expanding on the “they’re the “adults” of the fam” thing) They argue a lot (it’s all in good fun tho). One day it gets out of hand and Yaz yells “Well then maybe we shouldn’t be friends!” (or something as dramatic like that idk). Kenji goes silent for a few seconds, until he says “Fine. But I get to keep custody of Darius”, and Yaz starts fighting him for the custody and Darius is just in the background like “what the heck” (bonus: they yell back “don’t f*cking swear!”)

- Yaz hides Kenji’s sunglasses every once in a while

- In retaliation Kenji takes her sketchbook

- Turns out they’re both terrible at hiding stuff, so they always find them in less than 5 minutes after they got stolen.

- Yaz curses a lot and Kenji always yells “Language!” (yk, like in Age of Ultron)

I just really love the dynamic between the two and it isn’t just because they hugged although it might have been what started me getting obsessed with the show- But I do love them because I think the whole ‘I make my own rules’ x ‘Have fun getting shot,Dumba*s’ or ‘Please don’t do that’ was just like adorable and how Kenji all of the sudden cared about Ben being gone and doing things he didn’t do.Such as putting on Bens’ fannypack(Or second-),Caring about bumpy all of the sudden,Being so sad instead of the other campers when Ben was mentioned,Crying like full on tears when he saw him and being the first to hug him,Crying when he saw the ankylsauras(HOW THE HELL DO YOU SPELL IT?!),And letting Ben cling onto his arm.Like boy,If my short friend were to cling onto his best friends arm- Boy how many curse words would come out from him and me-.But they are just so sweet and I feel like they might become something if not and they both stay single or only one of them gets a girlfriend/boyfriend then that’s a bit(BIT) fine with me.But of course their is a slight chance that Camp Cretaceous will try and teach young kids and minors about how lgbt is fine and if not- Well there goes a hope of a way of getting kids to know that lgbt is ok without them finding out about smut and lemons-

Listen... their friendship isn't heavily focused but they get along great and individually they each have great vibes that has people gravitate towards them.

Hi! So I know I already did a edit of Bumpy and Ben for Favorite Friendship, but I couldn’t leave out the other friendships I love. I made two edits of my other favorite friendships in the show Kenji and Darius, Yaz and Kenji.

I absolutely love how from the beginning they all started off as annoying to one another, but when they were left on the island and had to work with each other to survive. I love how their character arcs were made and how much they all have grown! I love everything about the characters and the story plot of the show, and how they are all growing up so fast!🥺💖

Camp Cretaceous Countdown: Favorite Friendship

Yaz and Darius

This prompt was somehow far more challenging than “Favorite Character”, because I had to sort through a lot of interactions, figuring out who played best off of one another and who I most wanted to see work together in an episode, while simultaneously filtering out ship-ships (even Dinostar, who have perfect interactions all the time as friends) and determining how much a friendship causes characters to grow (Kenji and Darius, Ben and Darius...)...but in the end, it was these two--because at the end of the day there isn’t that much between them.

Yasmina and Darius are the two opposite ends of the entire Campfam. She’s a fifteen-year-old jock who probably knows absolutely nothing about dinosaurs, and he’s a twelve-year-old nerd who would probably be out of breath after two minutes of running if it weren’t for his Unlimited Child Energy. There’s absolutely no reason why the two of them would ever even speak to each other...except for this adventure.

And they play off of one another incredibly well! Yasmina may not like people that much, but she’s still a team player, and it doesn’t take much for her to see this small child and realize “Oh, he needs to be protected. Put your seatbelt on, little one! Why are you running at me?!? I will not let you fall!” And Darius, the leader of the group, looks at Yasmina and thinks “Strong arms. Fast legs. Useful powers.” 

Yet, even when they’re out of danger, they’re obviously comfortable in one another’s presence. Darius is always happy to support her and spark her imagination; and Yaz draws great pictures of dinosaurs, which Darius thinks is cool. It’s not quite a big-sister/little-brother relationship, even if it has a similar feel: it’s more of a Darius-is-the-brains, Yaz-is-the-muscle deal. Let me know when that dynamic gets boring.

Ben headcannons bc he’s who I have most about:

- You know about the ocean kid, dinosaur kid and space kid? Yeah, Ben was the space kid. He would spend hours in his room reading books about planets and constellations, researching about how stars die and when and what planets align each year.

- They like stargazing, and has their own telescope.

- He can speak German and like the most basic phrases in French.

- They never had a pet while they were a kid (until Bumpy, if she counts).

- I think that his mom was really overprotective of him when he was little, and it wasn’t until he was like 12 that she realized he had lived so protected that now he was scared of almost everything, reason why she started to try to push him out of his comfort zone, later sending him to Camp (which, as we know, didn’t end well).

- They can play the piano no I won’t elaborate.

- Bookworm! (that’s actually canon but ok)

- He’s the worst cooker out of the Camp Fam (Kenji is overjoyed when he learns this).

- They like to write, they actually have a notebook with little poems they wrote, which they brought to Camp. When he comes back, they tell him they found his notebook while rebuilding, but luckily it was Sammy who found it, so no one has read it yet.

- Took track in school for a while, dropped out after getting a “B” on a test because it was affecting their normal schedule.

- Actually does have more than one fannypack, but the brown one is his favorite so he took it to Camp.

I’m pretty sure I have more, but this post would get too long so I’m gonna leave it there.

I know I've missed the first day but it's countdown time.

My favourite friendship has to be Darius and Brooklyn, I just feels so natural. While Darius is keeping an eye out for the whole group, she's keeping an eye on him. Also the whole final confrontation between them and Mitch and Tiff was hilarious. I just love their energy.

I know a lot of people ship them and I like the ship but I think they also have an amazing friendship. But the dinostar Fanart is really cute.
