To me, the SR 71 is like an old family friend that I grew up with. Seeing life, although it’s just a trickle, makes me feel like she really is still alive. This is the SR 71 that is on display in Georgia at the Museum of Aviation, Robins AFB, GA
SR-71A Blackbird #17958
May 11, 1966: First SR-71A #958 was delivered to Beale AFB, CA USAF Pilots: Doug Nelson/ Pennington. A few years ago, it was propped up on a pedestal. This caused the dormant JP 7 fuel to start trickling through this SR 71 again; it’s emotional for me. I have a deep bond with this beautiful, Blackbird, not just this one but all of them.
