Old anime was so unhinged with its eng dubs lol. I generally prefer them cuz of this. Related, Haruhi is so much funnier in Eng ouran compared to the original. Her line in ep 15 when Tamaki asked to be added to her family phone plan bc hes her "daddy" was originally "that doesn't exist" but in the Eng dub was changed to "Senpai whatever planet you're on please come home" which is indefinitely funnier.

Similarly, Tamaki expressing "why does Kyoya know all these things about Haruhi!?!?" was met with an emphatic and snide "Really" from Haruhi but in the Eng dub she just says "Kill me" which, again. i think just works better to her character
