in those moments, his best friends were dead, and at least one of them is his fault. and maybe he'd convince himself that if he did something different, they'd still be alive.

like damn.... imagine being this celebrated hero and you couldn't even protect the two closest to you. and hell, even when maria was "revived" that probably made him feel worse about manolo. his last words to him were saying, yeah, it should've been you to die. and now that's kinda how things turned out
