Having worked in the movie industry for 2 decades, I've observed how incongruous the way people outside of the industry see movie stars. And rightly so, they are presented in so many different ways by the media.
The Girl in the Orange Dress tries to bridge the gap by taking everyone for a peek just a little deeper into an actor's more real feelings visavis also the media's range of interpretations, as an actor tries to manage a real love story slash scandal. To be fair, these actors and actresses are also real people. They just live in a very different and complex world with a very different set of rules in terms of privacy. Another very important piece of reality I wanted to bring forward is the realness of face to face experience. We live in a world now where getting to know people, facts, situations doesn't happen face to face anymore. We communicate using the screens of our television, our cell phones, our tablets and computers. But something gets lost along the way. Life has to be experienced face to face. Especially love stories.

Echo at Kim, kumpirmadong hiwalay na!
Kapwa naitago nina Jericho Rosales at Kim Jones ang tunay na score sa kanilang pagsasama bilang mag-asawa.
All this time pala, hiwalay na pala sila, mga ilang taon na!
Kim and Jericho, they were married on May 1, 2019 .
Limang taon na halos silang magkahiwalay pagkatapos ng apat na taong pagsasama nila.
Ayon sa may-ari ng isang eyewear shop at ninong rin nila sa kasal na isinuwalat ito ni Ricco Ocampo.
But unlike most if not all showbiz marriages, hindi naging bitter ang paghihiwalay nina Echo at Kim.
“Mutual decision at amicable agreement” daw nangyaring separation sa kanila.
It was gathered na kapwa binigyan nina Echo at Kim ang isa’t isa ng kalayaan para mag-grow sa kung saanmang direksyon ang nais nila.

"Alagwa," o kilala rin bilang "Breakaway," isang pelikulang Pilipino na idinirek at isinulat ni Ian Loreños. Ipinapakita ng pelikula ang malupit na katotohanan sa likod human trafficking sa Asya at poverty. Umiikot ang pelikula sa desperadong paghahanap ng isang ama para sa kanyang dinukot na anak at sa mga hamon na kanilang hinaharap sa gitna ng kahirapan at social hierarchy. Ang paglalarawan sa malalim na emosyon at ang realidad sa pelikula ang nakabugaw sa aking atensyon, sapagkat ipinapakita nito ang mga paghihirap ng ama, na nagtatrabaho bilang isang salesman at bahagi ng komunidad ng Filipino-Chinese, at ang kanyang anak, na kinakaharap ang pang-aapi at hirap dahil sa kanilang kapos na kondisyon sa buhay.
Inilarawan din sa pelikula ang pagmamahal ng isang magulang para sa kanilang anak, dahil hindi tumitigil ang ama sa paghahanap sa kanyang anak na si Bryan, kahit na nangangahulugang kinakailangan niyang pasokin ang madilim na realidad at panganib sa Chinatown na pugad ng isang sindikato ng child-smuggling. Ipinapakita nito ang sakripisyo na handa gawin ng isang magulang para sa kanilang anak. Nagbibigay-diin ang pelikula sa realidad na kinakaharap ng mga nasa laylayan at kung ano nga ba ang tunay na katotohanan sa likod ng kahirapan. Ibinahagi nito ang child sexual exploitation, ang limitadong access sa edukasyon at oportunidad para sa personal at ekonomikong pag-angat, ang pang-aapi, at kung paano napipilitang maging isip matanda ang isang bata sa napakabatang edad dahil sa kanilang kalagayan sa buhay. Ipinapakita rin ng pelikula ang kasakiman, sa paglalarawan ng pagsasamantala sa mga bata ng mayayaman.
Maihahalintulad din ang isyu sa lipunan na inilarawan sa pelikula sa kasalukuyang lipunan, sapagkat patuloy pa rin ang human trafficking. Ayon kay Lee-Brago (2023), noong 2023, iniulat ng gobyerno na natuklasan ang 1,277 biktima - 740 sa sex trafficking (490 babae, 37 lalaki, 148 batang babae, at 65 batang lalaki) at 537 sa labor trafficking (119 lalaki at 418 babae).
Naglalantad ang pelikula sa realidad ng mga bata na napapadpad sa panganib na sitwasyon, at nagpapakita ng malupit na realidad na kinakaharap ng mga marginalized na komunidad. Sa kabuuan, isang makapangyarihang pelikula ang "Alagwa,” sapagkat nagsasalaysay ito ng kwento ng pag-ibig, pagkawala, at sakripisyo sa gitna ng malupit na realidad ng buhay.
