Hi Jessica! Do you know anything about timings for the upcoming days? I desperately want to go meet the CP either at Imperial or Kew honestly but can't find times and I wonder if it's their default MO or if there is a swedish source that has them? Thank you :)
Sorry, I don’t know specific times! As they’re having a pub lunch and then it’s about 90 minutes to drive back I’d guess Imperial wont start before 2pm and they probably wont want to be in rush hour traffic so maybe between 2pm and 5pm, as a guess. Kew is harder but it says afternoon. They have a summit afterwards which ends at 5:30pm so they’ll have to be at the summit before then. I’d say a similar time slot, 1pm-4pm maybe? My recommendation would be to DM some journalists and ask. Often they can’t confirm timings publicly but in the past I know myself and others have contacted them on Twitter (when I was on it!) and said “I’m in the area, I just want to know a rough time so I’m not waiting for four hours” and then they might give you an hour window or something. I don’t know who will be covering it from the U.K. press but you could try Jenny Alexandersson, she’s a Swedish royal journalist. She’s active on Instagram and super lovely.
Also if you do meet Victoria and get a video of her saying “hi Jessica” I would kiss you on the mouth (or not, that might be a punishment! Whatever would be a good thing hahaha)

Hej! I hope it's okay to write you if we don't follow each other but I stumbled upon your post about a Swedish booktuber and LGBT+ books. So I'm queer af and on Scandinavian studies with Swedish as a leading language. I'd really like to get to know some books in Swedish about lgbt if you know some that would probably motivate me to learn the language. Thanks if you decide to respond to me c:
Absolutely. I haven’t read a lot of them and there aren’t very many but I can give you some popular examples. Also, Sweden isn’t really good about accurate representation so most narratives are awkward, especially when there are trans people involved.
Easy to Read (Perfect if you’re not very advanced at Swedish or have trouble reading)
Ingen Gör Mål På Mig by Annelie Drewsen is about a football player called Selma who ends up falling for a girl in the opponent’s team.
Flicka, Försvunnen by Sara Lövestam is an easier version of Sanning med Modifikation and is a mystery. It has a sequel, the easy version is called Bedragaren and the original is called Önska Kostar Ingenting
Är Klänningar Farliga? by Annika Ruth Persson is a book of facts about everything LGBTQ (HBTQ)
Chapter Books (Slightly more complicated, often meant for Swedish kids around 10-13 years old)
Brorsan är Kung by Jenny Jägerfeld is about eleven year old Måns who spends the summer in Malmö and meets a guy called Mikkel and they become friends but of course then Mikkel doesn’t think Måns has been honest about everything.
Skarven by Sara Lövestam is about three middle school kids who solve a crime
Det är Jag Som är Mickan by Malin Nilsson and Vanessa Lopéz is about a trans girl called Mickan who starts at a new school and is trying to befriend the class’ coolest girl.
Other Reading Levels
Kontradans by Eva Alexandersson. I’m not completely sure what it’s about but it’s very popular in Sweden.
Cirkeln by Mats Strandberg and Sara Bergmark Elfgren is about witches and I’ve actually read a few chapters of this, it’s pretty good.
Saker Ingen Ser by Anna Ahlund is a contemporary which makes it hard to explain but it takes place in a school and this actually takes place in the city I live in which is obviously only cool to me but still
There are more but I got pretty tired. Just message me of you want to know about more of them.

A big thank you to these magazines for picking up Jenny Alexandersson's interview with Crown Princess Victoria & Prince Daniel! Of course, I'm happy for Jenny for this exposure, but mostly, I'm happy because I don't have the mental space nor the energy to translate royal news into English right now 🙃

The shaman's mother: "He manipulates people"
Tumblr media
For the first time, shaman Durek Verrett's mother has agreed to an interview. But it's not just nice things Veruschka Urquhart, 79, has to say about her son. She warns that Durek could be dangerous to other people.
- He manipulates you, says Urquhart to Norwegian Se og Hør.
Princess Märtha Louise's, 51, fiance shaman Durek Verrett, 48, has paid tribute to his family on several occasions. On Mother's Day 2018, he congratulated his mother Veruschka Urquhart with a long and beautiful message on Facebook.
But today, Durek Verrett has no contact with his mother. According to Veruschka Urquhart, he broke off contact with her after she confronted him about how he treats other people.
- He doesn't work for the world, he works against the world. He doesn't work for the people, he works against the people, she says to Se og Hør in March.
- Durek will not help you find the divine light. He takes you to his own light, where he can flatter himself and manipulate you, says Urquhart.
Tumblr media
Veruschka says that she knew there was something special about Durek already when she was pregnant. But she denies her son's claim that she told Durek as a little boy that he would one day marry a Norwegian princess.
She also denies that Durek Verrett has been appointed shaman by previous generations of shamans in the family. Durek's relatives were mostly craftsmen and engineers.
- I think he stole her (Princess Märtha Louise's) brain. He has brainwashed her. Because he can take people and he is powerful. When I think of him and all the people out there who can't find their light. They find what he wants them to find, says Veruschka, adding that she loves and adores her son.
She also says that Durek is dangerous.
- My son is very charismatic. I don't know where he gets all his stories [from] or why he spreads all these lies. He is dangerous. I want to warn all Norwegians about my own son, she says in Se og Hør.
Durek Verrett and Princess Märtha Louise have been to New York several times, but never visited Durek's mother.
- I felt let down, says Veruschka Urquhart.
Aftonbladet has sought Durek Verrett's spokesperson.

Last Thursday I had an exclusive interview with Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. We stood and talked in the great greenhouse in Kew Gardens. Victoria had a laugh that I wore both a fluffy vest and a winter coat. I am a person who is always cold. The Crown Princess is a person who is always warm. [...] Victoria and Daniel joke and laugh a lot. The Prince first ended up behind a large palm leaf that insisted on laying itself over his face. There was a lot of laughter. But when the interview starts, it gets grave and is taken with seriousness. Not least because my questions dealt with major topics such as the war in Ukraine and the climate crisis. It turned out to be an exciting conversation.

The King comments on increased gang violence
Tumblr media
The numerous gang shootings in Stockholm are also discussed at the Royal Palace. In a speech to Stockholmers today, the King commented on the increased violence.
In a speech at Slottsbacken today, the King mentioned the many gang shootings that have occurred in Stockholm and the feeling of unsafeness many people feel.
He points out that violence must never be normalized and that we must not get used to it.
- Just as we restore nature that has been damaged, we must slowly and painstakingly restore security in our city, and in our country, says the King.
Despite the serious situation, the King looks to the future with confidence.
- After all, I feel hopeful when I see so much determination and so many good forces working together to fight violence.
This year, in addition to the throne jubilee, it's also celebrated that Sweden has been an independent state for 500 years - ever since Gustav Vasa was elected King on June 6, 1523.
The King commented that it was a violent period even in the 16th century – albeit in a completely different way.

Sommerlath opted out of the opportunity to be exculpated
Tumblr media
The Queen's nephew Patrick Sommerlath is suspected of buying sex at a Thai massage parlour. He denies the crime and avoided being served by staying away. Since Monday, he can no longer be prosecuted because of the statute of limitations. The reason why he is hiding is that he feels prejudged, he says.
Patrick Sommerlath seems surprised by the criticism and accusations that hit him and the Royal Family. Queen Silvia has received a severe blow; she who has dedicated her life to helping children and young people who suffer from sex crimes and trafficking.
The Queen welcomed her nephew with open arms when he came to Sweden as a 16-year-old in connection with his parents' divorce. He has more or less grown up as a sibling to his cousins, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine.
Being part of the extended royal family means many privileges. Patrick says in the interrogation with the police 1.5 years ago that he does not keep good track of his finances. The police state that he had an assessed annual income in 2022 of 59,600 SEK.
- It sounds too damned, but it could probably be true, Patrick replies.
A back injury in the early 2000s ended Patrick Sommerlath's full-time work. This situation would be challenging for anyone, but Patrick shouldn't have worried. He lives for free on the King's property and has no debts [according to his statement during the questioning]. Patrick Sommerlath is part of a family that prides itself on being supportive and helpful.
But what is also part of the extended royal family is the knowledge that everything one does will affect the Swedish people's view of the Royal Family and the Monarchy. It's a big responsibility - but a relatively small price to pay to be part of the family and be taken care of. What is required? Do not commit any crime and behave [with common sense].
Like everyone else, Patrick Sommerlath should be considered innocent until proven otherwise. Unfortunately, we will never find out whether Patrick committed a crime. He opted out of the possibility of being exculpated.
