I cannot begin to describe how disappointing I’ve found the beginning of the new expansion. It was everything I dreaded.

Switching factions was basically a lie, though they’d already told us that. But Imperials are basically reduced back to a flunky again from having potentially been an empress. You don’t even have the status in the Empire that you had at the end of the class stories.

The story...is just a rehash of “Kill Jedi!” Or “Sith bad!” Yay. Throw balloons and confetti. I’m still waiting to know why my character is supposed to care either way.

And after supposedly several years of working with a joint faction and learning to consider them people, we aren’t even offered the most obvious alternative - make sure the farming data gets into the hands of the Republic, the Empire (and the Alliance and Zakuul for that matter.) Or have the Alliance keep it for themselves and control the food supply! Or auction it! (if you’re DS.)

Nope. Apparently there can be only one set of data, ever, with no backups or copies and it’s only understandable to either Republic or Imperial scientists. For reasons.

New people, yay! Sassy Anri and Troubled Tau. Very well written and I loved both of them. Except, apparently I misunderstood and they don’t join the Alliance so...about 10 to 15 minutes worth of story with them and poof! They’re gone. Gee, the one positive thing in the entire story released today - Major Anri from the Imperial side and Tau from the Republic side - were basically waved under my nose and whisked away. Was basically reminding me that they have no intention of allowing us to get attached to any characters ever again. Except of course the ones that most of us don’t want.

They couldn’t have done anything to leave me more discouraged about their future direction than that, since our only real hope now that they won’t write anything for older companions is that they’ll give us content with new ones. They’ve just reminded me that we’re not allowed to get attached to anyone. Period. The only new one is...Melora? Seriously? The woman I sold out to her master on virtually every Sith character I had, lol?

I think the game basically ends for me with KotET...
