my alternate reading of jam eater blues is more mundane and pulls it away from the rest of the ep. to me it seems like a song about solitude, and doing whatever you want because this is your house and no one is watching. closing the windows, sealing yourself in to protect yourself, makes me think of island garden song or chinese house flowers. and the act of making a mess because Who Cares At This Point is similar to alpha omega (which also has a food motif, and a can, and horny undertones) or in memory of satan. But even though the speaker is enjoying the solitude, or at least telling themself that they are enjoying it, they intend to break out (lifes too short to waste it like this) which matches absolute lithops effect and other tmg songs about emerging from some place like a cocoon, after a period of introspection and self indulgence.

my tmg song sorters are once again up to date! you can find them all under the cut. i added a total of 5 new song sorters this year, as well as an album sorter that's comprehensive of all of the mountain goats' releases, not just what's on streaming!

the rest of the sorters include only what's on spotify, but with each new (old) addition to streaming, it's looking like making the jump to a more comprehensive sorter situation is going to be easier and easier!
