The second Jake opened the door to their dorm he could hear loud music coming from their living room, accompanied by loud jumping. “NO YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!” he paused for a second, fingers freezing as he untied his shoes.

His head tilted to the side as he heard Riki and a familiar voice, one that he recognized as yours, arguing over who got to be which character. “NO? YAH, I’M OLDER THAN YOU.”

Jake just shook his head as he finished taking off his outerwear, placing them on the rack before pulling his phone out from his jeans pocket.

His eyebrows furrowed after seeing that you haven't responded to his last few messages, leaving him on delivered for an hour.

He placed his bag down by the door, glancing around the entry area for a sight of your familiar shoes. His confusion only heightened as he spotted your favourite converse beside Riki’s, their sizes contrasting.

Heeseung walked in from the living room, a smile on his lips with beads of sweat collected on his hairline. “Oh, hey Jake” He nodded to the boy in a greeting as he continued his way to get a drink from the kitchen, his head bobbing to the imaginary music he’s hearing.

Jake could hear Jungwon laughing while Sunoo and Sunghoon were cheering you on, encouragement leaving their mouths as Riki whined about how no one was supporting him.

“Bro? I’m literally cheering for you” Jays offended voice was heard from behind the thin wall which caused Jake to chuckle as he imagined the look on his face.

The sight that greeted him made him laugh out loud, a fond smile breaking out on his face through his amusement.

You were down on one knee, hand out for Riki to hold as he skipped around you. “Swing your partner round and round, end of the night it's going down” You sang with the music as your other hand cranked circles in front of you.

No one noticed Jake standing at the doorway laughing at the two of you dancing, too focused on watching the dance battle. Jake pulled out his phone to record the two of you with a large smile on his face.

“Not Riki losing by two stars” Heeseung stood beside him, a cute smile on his face as he walked the two of you dancing through Jake's phone screen. The camera caught your reaction to seeing Jake, your face lighting up into a smile. You winked at the camera before standing in front of Riki, catching him as he jumped onto your back.

“Oh my gosh” your knees trembled from under Riki’s weight- who quickly got off of you as soon as the song ended. Jake ended the video as he walked over to you, ignoring Jungwon’s screaming at him to move because he was blocking his view of the TV. You grabbed Jake's wrist as you pulled him away from the TV, California girls blasting from it.

“I thought you were busy today?” You looked away sheepishly as Jake raised an eyebrow at you, lips biting down his smile. “Yeah, I told Riki we could hangout today and then the rest of the members came back from their schedules” you trailed off before looking up at him with a cheeky smile, “but you’re here now! You can play against me, I haven’t lost yet”

Jake let out a loud gasp, “You think you can beat me? That’s so mean, I'm way better” It was now your turn to gasp, jaw dropping as your eyes widened. “No doubt I could beat you. I bear Riki so..”

Jake put his out in front of him for a handshake, nodding his head as your hands connected. “Winner has to do dishes after dinner” You pulled your hand back in shock, loud refusals leaving your mouth. “That’s not fair! It’s your and Jungwon’s turn today!”

Jake just smiled as he messed up your hair, “You already shook on it”

Jake was stuck cleaning all the dishes that night while his weverse blew up from the video he posted of you and his youngest member dancing.

the most boyfriendish boyfriend to exist.

he’s always there for you, whether that be you’re having a sad day and just require his presence or if something exciting has happened and you wish to tell him all about it, here’s there to listen.

of course he cooks for you, he craves your joyous reactions to whatever he makes and he goes out of his way to present the food as a restaurant would just to see the smile light up on your face.

he’ll pay attention to the little details you mention in conversations and bring them up later. your heart always warms with the implication that he actually listens to you, even if you’re just rambling half the time.

a perfect example of a boyfriend.

this boy is so in love with you he feels like he can’t even breathe when he’s near you. he’s always messaging the group chat with the rest of the members when he’s with you, either incoherent ramblings or just full on paragraphs about why he loves you so much. the rest of enhypen have learned to ignore it though.

you best bet if the two of you have an unscheduled day, he will not let you leave his presence. what was once an early morning turned into a late lie in because he snuggled up to you, not allowing you to escape his bear hug. a movie night turned into you and him falling asleep on the couch, his arm wrapped around your waist while the unwatched movie played in the background.

he tends to play fight with you. if the two of you are on his bed, he’ll just start wrestling with you simply because he loves the laughter you let out. after it, he’ll have your hands pinned to the bed and he’ll bend down to kiss you.

sunghoon

despite being such a tease, he’s seriously a good boyfriend to you.

he’s the perfect example of someone who taunts their partner because they love to see how riled up they get. he’s always pulling small pranks on you or just downright teasing you because he loves the reactions you pull. he would always end it with an “i’m just teasing” and pull you in for a hug.

he’s so attentive with little details. if you’re in a restaurant and sharing food, he’ll always give you more of what you love to eat. he’ll always lead you by the hand if the two of you are out in public, as well as always having his hand on your body if you’re say waiting at traffic lights.

again he just executes boyfriend acts all the time. he’s always the type to offer his coat if you’re too cold, he would rather suffer from the chill himself than witness you shivering. when out on a picnic date, he’ll let you use him as a pillow when you snuggle up to him, even if he has nothing to rest his head on himself. he’ll always put you first.

niki

even if it’s niki’s first relationship, he sure as hell knows how well to treat you.

he’ll always and i mean always give you his hoodies to wear. at this point, you have more of his hoodies hung in your wardrobe than he does. he loves seeing how big they are on you; he’s just obsessed with seeing you wear one of his possessions and knowing you probably sleep all enveloped in one, his heart can’t take it.

he has a dedicated playlist for when you come over. whenever a love song plays that just gets his heart beating, he’ll look over to you and smile, as if he’s relating the lyrics to your relationship. overall, he has to remind himself that you’re not just a dream and that he actually has you as a partner.

he’s learning to be a better boyfriend as he’s going, but his acts are just so natural sometimes. for instance: he’ll always insist you message him when you get home straight away. if you’re faced away from him when lying in bed, he’ll roll over and wrap his arm around your waist, kissing your cheek and neck while he asks what’s wrong. and lastly, he’ll have the cutest nicknames for you, he probably has a new one stored every week.

Silky golden locks danced around your fingers as you and Jake laid facing each other in bed.

Floppy ears twitched with every delicate movement of your hands atop his head.

Your adorable puppy boyfriend hummed in enjoyment, tail wagging and thumping on the cushioned matress.

But then, the most wonderful duo of words escaped your mouth:

"Good boy~"

Jake's heart leaped and fluttered inside his chest, cheeks dusted a pretty pink. Brown eyes looked at you shyly.

On the outside, it seemed your lover wanted to stop you from continuing your train of thought, but his excited tail betrayed his bashful act.

"Such a good boy, the cutest puppy ever," you mushed his cheeks to make him pout slightly, "Adorable doggy, yes you are!"

Jake licked your face in a trance before reality downed on him a second after. It felt like lightning stroke his spine from how he flinched and froze in place, tongue still out with the lingering taste of you taunting his senses.

Mortified, his wide eyes examined your next move. The mirage he was in broke like a mirror with no hopes of being repaired.

However, it's you he just licked, it's you who witnessed his slip into the more mindless side of his self.

With you, there's nothing to be insecure about

Sure enough, your lips turned into the brightest smile ever, hugging him close to your chest as you giggled.

Jake immediately returned to his dreamland of love while squeezing you back in happiness. Tiny laughs of his own escaped to create a beautiful melody alongside your giggles.

Gentle hands pushed back the hair on his face to look into his eyes, "You're so adorable, Jake~ Perfect as you are~" You said with a smile.

you've always taken school really seriously

you're proud of your good grades and academic accomplishments/awards

your dream is to be number one in your class, but one person seems to always get in your way - jake sim

he always gets one point higher on every test, answers questions in class before you can, etc.

you hate how he's so good at everything

so, of course, you're enraged when you're assigned a seat next to him in class

he's always cracking jokes in the middle of class and you can't help but laugh even though you "hate" him

your first few months together felt like a dream. after numerous heartbreaks, you had finally found your prince charming in jake. your first meeting, during a physics lecture, in which he had entered late and snuck into the last remaining spot, located right beside you. your first impressions of him, marked by his bright smile and infectious laugh, were positive enough to have you start seeking out his presence. your shared hatred for your professor served as the initial common ground for the two of you to bond over, eventually growing into an intimate friendship.

jake had proved himself to be a great friend, and soon after becoming official, you realized he was a great partner as well. the very definition of a perfect boyfriend, jake always went out of his way to take care of you. just as much as you loved jake, you loved the way he made you feel. he was never afraid to show his love for you. his kisses were soft against your skin, setting off fireworks in your heart with each touch. everything about him felt comfortable. maybe that’s why you allow yourself to indulge, giving him all your firsts. he’s the first person to see all of you, more than just what you show others. and he welcomed it, letting you grow comfortable beside him.

close to your 8-month anniversary, everything started to go downhill. you know you were being greedy. It was selfish of you to feel entitled to jake, even as his partner, but you couldn’t stand it anymore. you hated the feeling of being without him. you hated how dependent you had become on him. you couldn’t even remember the last time the two of you met in person, but you’ve felt empty since. although the feelings threatened to eat you up, you bottled it all up and settled for the bare minimum that jake provided, missing the fireworks that once sparked from his very presence.

today would’ve marked a year since the day jake had first promised himself to you. he’s nowhere to be found, even though it was his suggestion to celebrate together. it’s cold out and your clothes are soaked from the rain, but all you can think about is how you're drowning in his broken promises. the sparks that were just barely flickering, finally wither as you reach your breaking point.

your heart is tight as you desperately dial jake’s number on your phone. the ringing is loud in your ears, only second to the sound of your heartbeat as you grow in a panic. the pounding in your head raises in volume and your heart races more with each unanswered call. jake only picks up after the fifth time you call him. “where are you? you promised this time would be different.” your lips threaten to quiver as you speak, but you fight the feeling, refusing to let him hear you cry. it's clear to you that jake had been drinking from the slight slur to his words as he lets out a string of curses and apologies for forgetting. "baby, i'm so sorry. you know i love you so much, right?" he presses a kiss to the phone and hangs up after hurriedly promising to come to get you.

just as he promised, jake doesn’t take long. you're sure that he must’ve been speeding to reach you so quickly. you can tell how desperate he is from how he runs towards you, wrapping you in his arms. his eyes are apologetic and a frown mars his pretty face as he cradles your face in his hands. jake rests his forehead against yours and you love the way he looks at you as if you deserve more than the world. jake had once been enough for you, but times have changed and you have to accept now that he isn’t your "always" anymore. the tears threatening to spill from his eyes tell you that he realizes it too. still standing beneath the rain, he presses a soft kiss to your lips. and you both know it will be your last.

a/n: wow, it's been a while. i've been going through something similar to this and figured it would be good for me to let it out somehow. i'm sorry if this isn't up to the highest standards as i haven't written in a long time... this was inspired by celings by lizzy mcalpine. not proof-read.

he looks so beautiful. that's all you could think as you stared at your boyfriend, jay.

he'd planned a picnic for the two of you, surprising you with it once you'd gotten out of work. you hadn't been seeing each other lately, so this was like a breath of fresh air for you.

you were so lucky. how did you get so lucky?

jay had packed your favorite snacks, and your favorite drinks to match. you'd been dating for while now, but still, his attention to detail surprised you. he knew everything about you.

"hey, so i've been thinking a lot lately.." jay paused. you could tell he was nervous, so you offered him a comforting smile and a nod of your head as encouragement.

"i've really missed you these days... i don't like being away from you.. i was wondering if maybe you'd like to move in with me? i mean, not right away.. unless you want to! i just-"

"i'd love to move in with you, jay. i think waking up next to you every day would make my life better."

jay was too happy to speak, instead opting to pull you in for an excited kiss. you noted that despite the burst of energy he was having, he was still gentle with you.

you two spent the rest of the night driving around in jay's car. the windows were down, the music was blasting, and you were singing your heart out. the moment felt almost euphoric, like a scene straight out of a teen movie.

before you knew it, jay was parking his car in front of your house - the house you would soon be leaving for his. he kissed you goodnight, murmuring a quick 'i love you' before watching you get out of the car. he made sure you were inside before he drove away.

once you stepped inside your house, you couldn't stop smiling. something about jay just made you so giddy, and in this moment, you knew jay was the person you were going to spend the rest of your life with.

jay was your first and only love.

until he wasn't.

you were a natural flirt, yes, but when it came to your best friend you struggled to find that 'natural' aspect and you're always wanting to one-up him. you found it easy to fluster someone just by a couple of words, an easy, "just as sweet as you" when asked how sweet you wanted your bubble tea, or a "you look really good today" paired with soft eyes and a gentle smile was enough to have people melting. where and who did you learn this from? jake sim. the mentioned best friend.

you can't out flirt him, it's just impossible at this point.

it shouldn't be something worth raking your head for, but you were competitive by nature. when hanging around with jake, you would observe his mannerisms, his supposedly called 'techniques' but it's just how he is. his raspy voice when he talks, the laughs that rumbles from his throat and the lip bites that makes it difficult for you to look away, all of this fuss when it's just a habit of his.

it's been a while since you last saw jake, and sometimes you thank that your families are just as close since that's how it all started. you have this on going joke but also a theory that your families have decided to grow closer as a way for you and jake to 'coincidentally' fall in love. however, that theory is slowly becoming a reality.

you don't want to admit it. nor will you. not yet anyway. you're just that stubborn.

speak of the devil, you see your best friend's plaid flannel outside your window approaching your front door. you run down to greet him. is it out of excitement? sure. was it because you wanted to try and fluster him today? yes, but he doesn't need to know that.

"jake!" you squeal. it's not too irregular compared to your usual greeting, he knows how eccentric you can be and he doesn't mind it at all.

"hey pretty, haven't seen you for a hot minute." the raspiness in his voice paired with his signature smirk never failed to have you folding internally. he greets you with a side hug, something he never does, but you let that pass your thoughts.

you make your way through the kitchen for him to greet your parents, respectful as he can be — that's why they love him so much, and the reason you've fallen for him a little more each time — before continuing to sit on the swing outside.

jake sits on the swing first, patting the cushioned space beside him while his feet are still on the ground to stop the swing from moving.

"so, update me. seeing anyone recently?" he stretches his arms, leaning it along the back of the swing once you're comfortably sitting crossed-legged.

"yeah, you." you wink at him without hesitating and you both burst out laughing.

"touché. but really, no one at all?"

"not really, no one compares if I'm being honest." if there's anyone you let your walls down around, it's jake. you don't know if he's ever assumed anything between the both of you, but it wouldn't hurt to push the agenda. "how about you? been thinking about anyone?"

it was momentarily silent, listening to the birds chirping from the trees around your garden and the faint laughter between both of your parents catching up in the kitchen.

"yeah, actually." he lets out a puff of breath through his nose as a small giggle to himself. you scan his face, attentive to the his top teeth biting on his lower lip, this time it's more him suppressing a the smile fighting against him. "all the time."

"well, I'm glad they make you happy. if you're happy then I'm happy too." you attempt to nonchalantly speak your mind, but not to sound passive aggressive in the slightest.

jake hums from your response, eyes still wandering around the garden. he exaggerates a stretch until his arm wraps around your waist, pulling a gasp out of you. he leans in and whispers by your ear.

"good, because you genuinely make so happy that no one compares." his voice lingers whilst you receive chills, unbeknownst whether it's from the slight wind or that minor rasp in his voice.

"jake? wait, for real?" you turn to him and place your hand over his — still on your waist.

"yn, that's something I won't joke about. I know we were playing around in the beginning but I honestly think I've fallen too hard to go back." you giggle at his confession, as he hides his face in your neck, his chuckles vibrating against you.

he wasn't one to confess straight up. thinking about it now, you have never heard him talk about ever confessing to anyone, he finds it embarrassing solely because he doesn't know how to do it without sounding cheesy.

"so you had no idea that you're literally the person that I like?"

"no... I just thought you were flirting around because that stubborn little head of yours just doesn't like the thought of me being better than you." he leans back and laughs at your raised brow at him.

you scoff at his retort, knowing full well that it's true, but you choose to abide by it. a spontaneous idea pushes itself to the front of your head, a playful smirk crawling on your lips.

"is that so, jakey?" you lean in and imitate his previous actions as your way of flustering him. the close proximity has you steadying your breath once you realise the pounding in your ears.

"don't think you can one-up me this time, sweetheart." he replies followed by his hand cupping your jaw and placing a peck on your cheek.

you were not expecting that, but neither did he. he just wanted to play it by ear, and it played out better than expected. while you've been trying so hard to plot your flirting game, he's been figuring out how to confess to you, even prepared to sing a song for you since you've mentioned time and time again just how bad you would fold if someone sang to you. anyhow, he figured being himself and catching you off-guard was the best way, and truthfully, it was.

"j-jake, I-" still stunned, you had no idea what to say. was there even anything to say?

"baby steps, we'll take it slow because I know this is new for the both of us. but I like you a lot, yn." jake pulls out a lollipop from his pocket and places it into your open palm resting on your lap. "I remembered your favourite flavour too."

"I knew I made the right decision to fall for you." you smile at him and lean your head on his shoulder.

"who said it was a bad decision to fall for me?!" he took it to heart, even found it slightly offensive to think someone may have made you reconsider your decisions.

"no one, jakey. no one at all. you're mine now." you feel him ease into your soothing voice, and his arm wraps around you again as the realisation hits. he is yours.

“I wished for the ability to freeze time so we can remain here forever.” You spoke in full earnest, love dripping from your lips and landing in the hearts of his eyes.

“Really?” Jake now found himself saying, eyes searching yours for some sort of lies.

“Really really” you nodded, hand coming up to jokingly salute to him, “scouts honour!” Jake bit his lip as he turned away from you, curling up into himself as he giggled, his hand coming up to slap over his mouth in an attempt to contain himself.

“Why are you getting shy? You’re the one who asked” you sat up to reach his shoulders, rolling him back over to face you as you giggled together. “Because I wished for the same thing!” you gasped as you flopped back down beside him, eyes as wide as your mouth, “you’re lying!” you accused, finger coming up to point towards his chest as you turned on your side.

Jake quickly shook his head, hand grabbing your own and pulling it to flatten against his heart. “I’d never lie to you, ever.”

Before you could reply a bright flash of light flew across the sky.

“A SHOOTING STAR!” you both screamed in sync, both your faces shotting towards the sky, voices a bit too loud considering the time of night.

Ears perked at the sould of keys fumbling with the doorknob.

A tail wagged, a nose sniffed, a heart beat faster at the prospect of what will happen next.

As soon as you opened the door to your home, allowing your bag to sling off your shoulders and pop down on the small shelf by the door, your greeting was interrupted by an excited voice:

"Jakey, I'm ho-"

"Honey! Hi, hello! Did you have a good day? I missed you!"

You were instantly hugged by your over-energetic golder retriever of a boyfriend, face nuzzling deep into your neck as he familiarized himself with your fresh scent once more.

Sure, the house was surrounded by your scent, but nothing compares to the one on your actual skin, you know? Or so he says.

Tiredness startled out of your mind, it took a couple seconds to process what excatly happened just now. Instinctively, your arms went to wrap around him in a confused hug.

"Darling, remember what I said?" You pat him lightly on the back to call for his attention.

The brunet's entire demeanor changed back to his characteristic joyful self once your hand went on to pet between his floppy ears. Jake stared at you with bright brown eyes, while an equally as bright smile shaped his lips.

Pushing the door closed, you talked again, "While I adore your hugs as a greeting, do allow me to fully come inside next time, luv." Once done with the reminder, you opened your arms expectantly.

The hybrid chuckled and dove into your arms, "Understood!"

Turning around to answer, you could see his tail wagging slowly and picking up in speed as you talked, "Of course, silly puppy! I have tea to spill! You won't belive what Yuna said to the manager, like O-M-G my girl gives ZERO shits!"

As you talked and completed your after-work routine, Jake listened attentively. Occasionally, he would let out small hums of agreement and sounds of disbelief as he listened to the tale about your friend Yuna and her fight with that nightmare manager your team was cursed with.

His gentle hands helped remove some clothing articles, taking the time to sooth the skin with leftover marks from where your clothes hugged you a bit too tight. Your lover brought you close to his chest, circling your waist from behind, head dropping down to your shoulder to trail tender kisses all the way to your neck and jawline.

Giggles erupted from you due to his affections, hand going up to play with his hair and rub at the base of his left ear.

Doing as told, you allowed your boyfriend to dress you up in one of his oversized shirts. It smelled just like him.

Bown eyes scanned you up and down with myrth, he loved how you looked in his clothes.

"You're so beautiful," he said, with a lovestruck look in his eyes.

Pecking his lips quickly, you answered, "And you're the cutest ever." Tugging on his hand, you led the way back into the living room.

Finally, the moment you desired most arrived: a moment to wind down and cuddle, catch up on Jake's day, and enjoy some time together.

Plopping down on the couch, you turned on the TV and let the random channel from last night play on the background.

A look thrown Jake's way sent you both into motion: the golden retriever laid down sideways on the cushions as you unfolded the light blanket hanging on the armrest. Your sweetheart gently guided you down near his chest while you flicked the soft cover over both your bodies.

You sighed happily while nuzzling into his toned chest, humming in delight at the calming atmosphere surounding you two.

Jake carded his fingers through your hair to help you destress even more, tail tumping against the sofa with every volume spike in your hums of enjoyment.

"Missed you so much, Jakey," You mumbled into his chest.

"Missed you, too, my love," He answered back.

“he’s been asking for you.” jay mumbled, seeming annoyed as he entered the dorm. he had texted you to meet him and jake there, explaining how the boy had been talking his ear off about you after a couple of drinks. jake emerged from behind jay, his lips in a pout and his eyes resembling a sad puppy. his expression changed when he saw you, a smile stretching across his face.

“y/n!” he exclaimed, a small giggle escaping from his mouth as he embraced you.

“good luck.” jay smirked before walking away to his room. jake hugged you tightly, his head buried in your neck as he left kisses against your skin. you chuckled, placing your hands on his cheeks and lifting his head away from your neck. as soon as you made eye contact with jake, you smiled, noticing the lovesick expression on his face.

“i missed you so much…like, so so much.” he mumbled, pulling you against his body again. you bit back another laugh, running your hands through his hair.

“how much did you have to drink, baby?” you asked, sliding jake’s jacket off his body. the boy finally backed away from you, still not being able to take his eyes off your face. you were just so pretty that it made his whole body feel warm and fuzzy…or maybe that was just the alcohol…probably both.

“i think i’m too drunk to change my clothes, can you help me?” jake asked, clearly teasing you because he was able to walk easily and his words weren’t slurred. his movements were a bit abnormal, but he was capable of changing his own clothes.

“you just want an excuse for me to undress you.” you giggled, reaching into his closet for a new shirt and pants. jake let out a disappointed huff before pulling his shirt over his head. you handed him the shirt and sweatpants.

“i’m going to get you water, ill be right back.” you said before kissing his forehead and walking over to the door. jake let out a whine, wanting you to stay even though you’d only be gone for five seconds. when you came back, jake was sprawled across the bed, his smile widening at the sight of you. putting down the drink, you joined jake on the bed, squealing when he nearly crushed you in a hug.

“i never want to let you go ever again. i love you so much. like, so so much.” jake mumbled, kissing the top of your head. you turned to face him, being met with his lips on yours. jake began to kiss you harder and you let out a gasp when he slid his hands under your shirt.

“jakeee…” you groaned against his mouth, pushing him away slightly. the boy bit his lip to hold back a smile, finding your flustered reaction amusing.

“aren’t you tired? jay told me that you were falling asleep on the way home.” you asked, not stopping jake when he began to kiss your neck. you could never resist his affection, it was too addicting.

“seeing you gives me energy.” jake replied, lifting his head to meet your eyes. even though he wanted to have his hands all over you, he also wanted to make sure that you were comfortable before doing so.

“if you throw up, pls do it away from me.” riki mumbled, his eyes still focused on the game. he was playing single player since jake decided to keep his attention on you. he wasn’t sure what you were like drunk but he knew that you didn’t need to drink anything else. you tried to take more of his soju as well but he gently pushed your hand away.

“why are you so mean to me?” you whined, roughly rubbing your hands over your eyes. you managed to spread your mascara around your face, causing jake to laugh at your new look.

“i think it’s time for you to go to bed.” jake spoke up, slowly lifting you off of the floor. you groaned, holding your head as he pulled you up.

“i’m gonna get her ready for bed. don’t take any of the drinks.” jake said to riki, giving the younger boy a glare when he eyed the soju bottle. riki raised his hands in mock surrender, trying(but failing) to hide his smirk.
