that was.... the most beautiful thing i have ever read. in this house we love and support jacob markstorm and we call him nifty at least once a day (also, he is definitely the kind of guy to buy a metal straw and like go out of his way to clean it with the pipe cleaner thingy and try to get all his teammates to invest in metal straws i 🥺🥺🥺)

STOP I CAN’T GET OVER THIS. I LITERALLY CAN’T. I MADE ANOTHER POST ABOUT IT BUT I’M GONNA CONTINUE TO TALK ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I’M IN LOVE WITH HIM NOW.

he does the dishes!! or whatever his designated chores are!! he doesn’t even complain, he just does them!

he’s reasonable. when you go car shopping, he doesn’t look at the flashy cars. he looks at the practical ones, the ones with good gas mileage and four-wheel-drive. if you pass a Very Sexy Sports Car he makes a dad joke and moves on. his ideal dinner night? takeout and a movie. he is not a risky guy, he doesn’t crave an adrenaline rush, he doesn’t thirst for things he can’t have. jacob markstrom is An Average Guy and he likes being an average guy, and that is now the only way i will ever be able to think of him

Dad!Marky for the soft thoughts: imagine him teaching your children how to swim. He's a giant so he would be comically barely in the water while supervising the kid's first own strokes alone standing beside them, but oh so proud!

And then ofc the price would be going into the "big water" on Daddy's back afterwards.

Oh my goodness, yes!! They'd be scared at first, and have Marky hold them, but they wouldn't be at all touching the water. He'd put them in the water and watch on as a proud dad as they swim and get used to the water. Just watching the children hanging off of him as they go deeper would be so cute!!

Silent Night -> Jacob Markstrom

12 Days of December

Author's Note: Happy Day Nine! This one is just pure fluff and just all-around super soft. Although the song is a Christmas song, there is no mention of Christmas at all. Here is today's question: What's your favorite December evening activity? Enjoy this one!

Warnings: gender-neutral!reader

Word Count: 608

The wood was crackling in the fire as the lights were low and a few candles flickered. You pulled your sweater closer against yourself and breathed in the pine cologne that was on it. Maybe, it wasn't actually your sweater. Maybe, it was Jacob's sweater, but no one had to know that. You pulled your knees up to your chest to let the warmth encompass you.

"It's snowing," Jacob says as he walks into the living room. He grabs the blanket sitting on the opposite end of the couch before sitting next to you. Once he sits, Jacob scoops you up and pulls you close against your body. You rest your legs across him as your head rests on Jacob's chest. He lays the blanket on top of you as you snuggle into his side.

"Is it?" you ask.

"I wouldn't have said it was snowing if it weren't actually snowing," Jacob teases.

"You're not funny," you reply in mock annoyance. "I like this sweater on you."

"Yeah?" he asks. Jacob was wearing a plaid sweater that brought out his eyes. You nod. "I like my sweater on you." You feel your face warm as you realize he caught you. You burrow into his side and let Jacob's warmth consume you.

"I'm going to pick up my mom from the airport tomorrow at 4 pm, assuming her flight isn't delayed," Jacob says after a few minutes of silence pass between you two.

"I'll be sure to have the guest room ready for her," you reply, and a comfortable silence settles over your living room.

"She keeps asking me this question, and I always give her an answer that I know she doesn't really want," Jacob says randomly. His voice is shaky, and it makes you nervous.

"Then just give her the answer she wants, then." You know how close Jacob is with his mother, and you know that he'll do just about anything for her.

"It's not that simple."

"Okay?" You're confused now.

"It requires you giving me an answer to a question," Jacob explains. Your eyes furrow in confusion. You didn't give Jacob a question about lunch tomorrow, but you doubted that it was a matter that Jacob's mother so direly wanted an answer to.

"What's the question?"

Jacob doesn't answer but takes your left hand in his. He begins to stroke patterns on your fingers, nothing out of the ordinary. You don't take any notice to it until you realize that his thumb keeps tracing over one finger. One finger with an empty space where a ring could be. Oh, now you understood.

You open your mouth to say something, but you don't know what to say. Is this him proposing, or is this him telling you something else? Your mouth is dry as you process Jacob's actions.

Did you want to marry Jacob? Yes, more than anything. Were you ready to be married? Not quite. But you wanted to be with Jacob, so all of your worries don't matter. He's the one, you know it, so you know that he'll listen to any and all worries you have.

"Yes," you whisper.

"Yes?" Jacob asks with excitement in his voice.

"Yes," you clarify. "It will always be a yes."

Jacob smiles and places a kiss on your forehead. "It's always a yes for me, too."

You smile and burrow further into Jacob's side. You listen to his heartbeat and know that your life is going to be filled with nights like these. Silent, quiet nights filled with being with the person you loved the most.

It was a notion that you couldn't wait to have forever.
