In 2022, Taikouvember had been announced on short notice, leading to not many people knowing about the event. And even if several people were participating, causing a nice little atmosphere, we wanted to make sure that this year would be even more enjoyable for everyone involved. And we believe this has worked out wonderfully!

Thus we wanted to thank everyone who took the time to draw, write, make edits, compile posts and so on and so on. We know lives are busy and yet, you all did your best to contribute and that is worth all the praise in the world. Our favourite ship might not be the most popular one out there, but we are proud to have a small community dedicated to showing their love for it. And it doesn't matter what you did, how much or how little you did, if you could finish it in time or just handed in drafts: It's all wonderful.

My Five:

1) Takari Week Day 7: Comfort OR Healing/Taking Care Of

Takari Week was the first Tumblr Week event that I got to be a part of and it was SO MUCH FUN!! I loved all of my responses but this one is my favorite; I’m partial to angst.

2) Knives Out Headcanon

This was another first. Do you guys ever watch something and think ‘imagine the Digidestined in *this* setting’? That happens a lot with me.. and I thought putting them in this movie’s universe was so “out there” but I love those kinds of ideas ;) 

3) "I’m never buying IKEA furniture again” (Koukari)

You know how you write a fic and you stop writing at the fluffy part because it was too cute to handle? Yeah, that’s what happened here. And it was amazing to see others feel the same way. XD <3

4) The Princess and the Dragon (Taiora, AU)

THERE WAS SO MUCH TAIORA (surprise, surprise) but I only wanted to choose one work. It was hard ranking my Taiora stuff personally LOL. But I’m going with this one because this one had hints of romance but was more about family love - Yagami siblings and of course, Papa Taichi and his baby girl <3

5) Effervescent Fires (Howl’s Moving Castle)

I hope to write more of this! I’ve been working on a fic about Calcifer. The idea of writing the story through the eyes of a cursed star/exasperated flame being is so fascinating to me. I can’t find the link to where I originally posted my excerpt (it was a few months ago but buried in the depths of Reddit, so I’m just going to post it under a cut. :D

The boy seemed to know this star's fate as he reached his arms up, holding out his palms for it to land. The star could tell as he settled with his gentle sparks leaving the boy's hands unharmed that this boy was no ordinary boy; this boy knew magic, and he could help him live.

The star could also tell that this boy wanted something in return. A contract? The star did not truly understand, but if it meant that he could avoid his fate for much longer, then he was willing to accept.

And so, with the boy’s inhale, the star was devoured and was met with darkness. It was a different kind of a falling, from all of the bright colors to none at all, until he stopped moving. After a moment’s pause, he felt a beat. A slow, steady tempo within him while his flames lit up in a soft blue.

The blue turned into bright orange as he flowed back out into the world and onto the boy’s palms once again. He was no longer a star on his way to the end; he was now a vivacious fire demon, entwined with the boy by the manner of his heart.

No words were spoken between them, but the fire gathered their introduction by contact.

The boy's name was Howl.

And his name: Calcifer.

Digimon Adventure{s} (Series)/[02] ~ (Closet!) Cosplay ~ (Post-02!)Koushiro[u] Izumi {Aesthetic[s]} / Detail shots {January 2k23} (I don't have a full-size plush of partner yet so I usually consider this Koushiro to be late-final-year of middle school Koushiro, or a Koushiro who enters high school and has a jacket in similar color / style as previously {I intended to cosplay Koushiro pre-Tri as well}.)

In my fic-verse, Koushiro has such a jacket in the darker green color; maybe different color tie and pants because the school location changes (I used "Odaiba High" at the time writing my old fic-verse). There, Koushiro was already in 2nd~ year of high school and Taichi was in the 3rd~ year about to graduate (by J.P.N school system schedule); the original fic follows them all through University years. In my fic-verse the green may also be slightly more "muted" to distinguish it, I haven't fully decided yet; but this jacket still looks pretty bright if sunlight hits it, despite it being dark emerald green) featuring (Me) / @izzyizumi Also in the original fic; The Digital Gate had, similar to Tri, since closed briefly; travel functioned a little closer to 02 still, when they could only see their partners briefly at times via Gate-hopping (until a lead-in to pre-epilogue era had them all "meeting" again under various circumstances). So the Koushiro I cosplay is one who's supposed to be a little distant from having seen partner 'Mon in a while and is feeling the effect of it. (They typically still communicated via brief e-mail messages when possible / when the Gate allowed contact, but it was different.) Fortunately Taichi usually comes in more and they start hanging out. {Wig was bought from & styled by a previous Koushiro cosplayer!} - The jacket for Koushiro's (02) "school!" uniform is actually closet cosplay jacket found in a regular department store sometime just before 2k15! Finding it in this exact shade / color was amazing, I'm not quite sure I'll ever find much close in the future!! (As it's from around 2k15, it's a little old, but holding up!) - Gold Laptop is my own! (in use since about 8~ years ago, aka also around 2k15!) {I bought it less for the cosplay [it was sometime before the pre-Tri fan base revival, actually; I was still actively following the series and Koushiro-relevant fan base things on this blog and in my own time] and mainly because color, price + condition was seriously good for 200+ GB of storage space at the time.} {The yellow laptop Koushiro canonically uses has never really been produced in the right "full" size (Yet?!?), so this was a "next best thing" until I can get a shell replacement or the like similar to the canonical yellow-and-white laptop!}

[ + once upon a time, Oct. 25th, 2017, one day after my birthday. yes, I made a Taishiro Fan-soundtrack using THIS particular track as inspiration, remembered a certain other favorite series of mine had a ton of cool/actually fitting-for-the-themes/plot music, realized “ HEY I MAYBE CAN ACTUALLY MAKE AN AMV TO THAT SONG ”, and things kind of ... uh ... spiraled as I came up with too many AUs to list + EPILOGUE-ERA AUs / HEADCANONS ESPECIALLY INCLUDED ]

... And, you know, I don’t regret that I’ve worked on this 30k+ WORDS/AMVs. Even if only got a couple reviews initially, (I know, my writing is poor) [ there’s reasons for that that would be way too time-consuming to explain ] I met some amazingly kind fans via it I’ve received other nice comments since, too, honestly, after all the hard work/time I poured into those self-indulgent AMVs, I can only say to those who encouraged, supported, and chatted with me, ( me, a person with autism + severe anxiety who was terrified of posting anything with my deeper thoughts, ) those who gave it a chance, thank you so much. I’m genuinely SO HAPPY if my writing/fanworks could help ANYONE. to be honest I wrote more like 50k+ total words including extra shortfic bits but I got cold feet about posting the rest of them for now, I’m sorry... maybe someday I’ll post them to a more private/personal space where I can actually control (again) who follows me & interacts & follows my rules because ... yeah, some other people didn’t do this

Taishiro Fic Notes: REPEAT? [09]

Pt./Ch. 09 (under the cut!)

Ch. 09, (”Incident”) (or, “Hikarigaoka Incident”) This part was also written about partway through everything else (thus not included in the outline) I had various ideas in which the direction of the dialogue could have gone but I wasn’t sure, so in the end I implied maybe they weren’t really discussing the Digimon too much after this? (or maybe in AUs of an AU, they were... if briefly) (there’s reasons too) [specific dialogue notes] - ‘  "That's... that's where we used to live, before moving to Odaiba..." Koushiro starts at first, making Taichi confused, but then nods, slowly -- ‘ Hikarigaoka Incident is still canon to this ‘verse, yes (also the original verse) Koushiro wasn’t actually aware Taichi lived there before too, though when he was asking, he assumed Taichi might have remembered it (or not) (like, naturally) (he might not have thought so if not for the dreams, though...) ... maybe subconscious pinging too about original verse Taishiros as well (not fully sure here tbh) - ‘ (Why does he have a sudden bad -- uneasy? -- feeling--?) (Like the--) ‘ (Timeloops effect ping here too, yes) (Digimon involvement, yes) - so Koushiro explains the Hikarigaoka incident and his thoughts he, of course, knows whatever reason the government pulled out is. [yeah] (... lbr after the/his accident in this ‘verse he probably researched everything ... as soon as he could get his hands on the laptop) (and probably documented everything he could remember, too) (... Koushiro ;;) (... so while in the original verse they forget over time [because the Digimon]-) (this Koushiro doesn’t forget [fully? (not sure but)]) (much like Hikari - except Koushiro had to work at keeping his memories intact) - ‘  "So... you're saying, they called it an 'attack'," Taichi rephrases, slowly -- "And they never even got any details...?" ‘ Taichi also realizes what’s up once Koushiro explains. (he thinks it’s all [lies], too) [..... unintended but maybe the spark of a government ambassador Taichi, too] [listen if you think Taichi wouldn’t involve himself in politics everywhere especially if it meant helping other people (and other Chosen including international Chosen because of everyone getting Digimon I mean) and uncovering (a corrupted) governments’ lies idk what to tell you that’s why that position is so good for him ok it’s not ... a totally passive position there’s tons of important work involved that kind of position can be good if one uses it well] - ‘ "However, there were some reports... -- of strange incidents occuring in other areas. At the same time." ’ Ripple effeeeeect - I still haven’t decided if Tri and Meiko are fully canon to these verses yet but just in case they are [or for in AUs of AUs] - this would relate probably too yeah - ‘ "...My next archaeological dig is scheduled there." ’ (it was actually not planned that way in-universe, Koushiro just took ... slight . advantage of it) (he’s genuinely working too though ok I promise he does enjoy his work) - ‘ (Taichi isn't sure if he should ask, 'are you ok?'--) ’ It’s obvious Koushiro might not be but this kind of relates back to the chapter/part “Cliche” - ‘ -- ...Eventually raises his head again to smile gently, at Taichi. ’ (it’s a [slightly] more controlled smile here, but he does still mean it [genuinely]) - Taichi’s reaction is basically typical (VERY EXCITED) (GENUINELY) Taichi - ‘ Koushiro looks back up quickly -- -- meets Taichi's excited eyes -- -- slowly gives another gentle smile. "...Then, we'll go." ’ (’...Ok.’) [once again] [except this time he’s smiling too ;;] - ‘ ("Besides, how could I just LEAVE you after all this--?!") ‘ seriously, though?! (this line was referred to in the original fic outline, too) (this entire section was actually written out way later though) (also this section was actually unplanned, it was mostly this line itself planned) (Taichi’s thinking it yeah) - the ‘hidden gaze’ section basically Koushiro’s more hidden feelings on the matter - ‘words left unspoken’ IF in AUs of AUs they brought up [the Digimon] or [this] then ..... ? - the following section with the stairs ..... high places BE CAREFUL, KOUSHIRO (I’ll elaborate on that more in later chapters but essentially) (it most likely wasn’t [fully] an accident) ok but I figured at some point he’d be going up and down stairs and eventually this had to happen in between at some point - fortunately Taichi was there...?! - [AND THEY GOT TO SEE EACH OTHER GENUINELY LAUGH--] [hi various Our War Game movie ending fanarts ..... ;A;/] - also, I considered a few more smaller / similar scrapped scenes after this, but ultimately left them out. I was kind of thinking maybe a partly sweeter scene too where on the way home (during the evening/early night) they stop for something [nice] to eat [again Koushiro you need to eat something] [and not fall back now] [I think he’d still try to keep it up though even if he was bothered by the above] then I thought (maybe it’d parallel the pastries scene except this time in reverse??) (like maybe they get ice cream or something idk) [it doesn’t help a similar scene happens with Kagepros in another favorite video] [not both the main Kagepros but still one of the Kagepros] (maybe Taichi would lean in this time idek) (... wow Taichi) (also) (if it was something simple like that maybe Taichi would make dinner again later) (or maybe they make it together?) (OK BUT YEAH THIS IS WHY THIS SCENARIO / SETUP HELPS WITH INDECISIVENESS)    (but yeah something cute would happen at least but then) (... crossings) (also, if in between those somewhere, or in AUs of AU, the park scene) (either way, if anything had happened .....) - fortunately Taichi is still there...?! Taishiro Fic Notes: REPEAT? [10]

pt./Ch. 4, pt. 2 (also Ch. 10) (under the cut!) [previous parts’ notes] [original fic outline]

Pt./Ch. 4, pt. 2 + Ch. 10, (Shards) So in case if it wasn’t obvious, these two parts basically parallel each other, but they’re happening in different timelines. Ch. 4′s happens in [one of?] the “original” timelines (our main verse / canonverse or at least a canon-compliant verse) while Ch. 10 happens in Archaeology AU [this fic]. Basically, it’s Greymon vs Parrotmon battle in Hikarigaoka (reimagined) yeah. [specific dialogue notes] - ‘ Explosions. Everywhere, the sound of explosions ‘ happening at-scene too obviously but also [looks at Mugendramon arc] (I think Taishiro fans forget sometimes the battle from the first movie may have sounded like this, too ?? but they forget? but like hidden memories etc ....) - ‘ Kids his age - one, looks a bit taller, older ’ hi Jou ;A;/ (I thought this bit was obvious I hope) - ‘ others, younger? -- ’ hi the rest too (again) (also includes Mimi and Takeru, who aren’t referenced in the main fic often either, Takeru especially) - spotlights ok so there were some slight ... differences? between the movie version and the flashback version in the Hikarigaoka ep I thought (and also when recalled later) (during the Homeostasis scenes in canon Adventure) so this was to indicate the Chosen noticing something’s up yeah (of course they forget it all after in canon, too) basically, it’s them becoming ‘Chosen’ (which is also very important for this AU verse Koushiro who ... yeah) - ‘ He's staring not at the monster - or maybe he had been, but now he -- He was staring right at Taichi. ‘ hi tiny Koushiro’s awareness ..... - ‘  ("What do I do?!") ‘ hi ... timeloops effect ... (ok but what can they do? Koushiro feels helpless, too) - ‘ His baby sister. He has to protect her, he has to -- ‘ of course he’s naturally protecting Hikari too [in canon, too] but this is maybe meant to parallel his later protectiveness over Koushiro too (... even the canon kind of does it ??) (’Why won’t you let me fight [too]?!’) - ‘ A charred phone booth -- on the street, an overturned bus -- cars? -- ‘ hi the bus from Koushiro’s flashback (Hikarigaoka ep) (..... um) (cars) - ‘  The other boy looks about ready to cry, too. ‘ (i’m sorry Koushiro) [jump over to Ch. 10] - ‘ [electricity] ‘ hi ... Koushiro’s ... element (... that was natural though) (he’s spelling it out too) (also, Parrotmon = electric) (car ... = electric) (... also fire) - so in this verse Koushiro is also basically frantically trying to escape the wreck naturally too (timeloops effect isn’t helping though) - ‘ his mind still seems to be rational ’ again, natural + timeloops - ‘ I was enjoying myself up until now ’ Koushiro ... hopefully had a happy enough life [if an average child’s life] before the car accident happened (in canon, too?) (i’d like to hope anyway ;;) - ‘ ('There's still so much I don't understand...') ’ this is a common theme with Koushiro ... I’d imagine a tiny Koushiro would feel similar in this kind of situation too ... - ‘ a tiny family ’ sometimes others give the Izumis more living relatives [grandparents, etc.] but considering they were already ‘distant relatives’ and no one else is ever mentioned I’m ... not sure it’d be more than just them [Koushiro, Yoshie/Kae + Masami?] otherwise, wouldn’t Koushiro’s hypothetical distant family members have had more impact upon his life at all re: the adoption thing ... ?? (hmm) (yeah I think it’s just them I’m sorry) (considering a lot of the issues related to his adoption + what he likely angsted about....) - ‘ [contact] with their distant relatives - ’ (hi Izumi family ;A;/) - ‘ -- and he didn't have a ton of possessions, he wasn't spoiled, after all -- ’ relates back to the beginning - Koushiro’s overall lack of possessions before Koushiro gets hyper involved with tech and his office in Tri I imagine as a kid he really didn’t need / want / ask for much this is kind of implied in a Vamdemon arc episode, when Mrs. Izumi talks on the phone iirc / basically Koushiro is a polite, good kid who doesn’t ask for much [but also his adoption angst] before his adoption though I don’t think he’d be spoiled otherwise too though like ... he’s never implied to have an attachment to like. anything. (that isn’t the computer) - ‘ ('LIVE--!!') ’ an important theme overall, yes (... I did not actually intend the Daiken/Kensuke parallel but. it happens) (why are Daisuke+Ken so great too ;;) - ‘ His legs hurt so much he feels like he's on fire, but he isn't (yet?) -- ('You know this is wrong!') ('You weren't here before--!!') ’  this comes back up in ch. 11 and various other points, too, concerning his legs so I figured if he was ever involved in the accident and it was that terrible he’d have some injuries/scars, yeah but I didn’t want it to be his eyes/face and he needs his hands for tech the back is a kind of obvious spot too but it didn’t feel right? ... so. that kind of left his legs ;; (but it kind of related to Mugendramon arc too so...) (there’s a scene in Mugendramon arc where they burst through the glass / debris and. yeah) ‘You know this is wrong!’ / ‘You weren’t here before--!!’ and that’s his subconscious picking up on timeloops yet again yup - ‘ (Or was he?) (Maybe he had forgotten.) ’ seriously where the heck WAS Koushiro on that night -- (... if the Izumis were a tiny family and no other relatives no one related to him would have been at his home right ..... while he was a ‘baby’ [maybe in the original they just meant young? they don’t even use the word ‘baby’ there] .....) (’distant relatives’ implies they didn’t see each other often maybe ....) (idek anymore who knows) (but yeah either they leave him with a babysitter / caretaker [??] or .....) - ‘ Looks up at the starry sky above him. ‘ so, that scene with Adventure Koushiro & Tentomon pointing at the starry sky in Tri? ;; ‘I Wish’? ;; -  ‘ ("Please!! Please beat him--!!") The dinosaur's eye somehow moves -- -- looks straight at him. ’

Greymon ;; (if Greymon towers over everything enough that he can see Koushiro here) (even when fallen?) - ‘ Koushiro, on his back, the spotlight on him, catches his eye with a gasp of surprise. Just before the monsters' eye had moved -- -- a whistle had been sounded. ’ Greymon is seriously huge here, so even when fallen he towers Koushiro sees him just before (‘powerful?’) but then Greymon did fall briefly ... young Taichi’s blowing the whistle, yeah - ‘ The monsters' eye opens. ’ (Ch. 4 end) - ‘ ...[Koushiro] closes his eyes. ’ (Ch. 10 part/end) the parallel / crossover (also waking up / falling asleep) ... I haven’t fully decided, but depending probably timeloops effect crossed over these timelines and this happens (yeah) (so... little Taichi + Greymon indirectly [directly??] saves AU Koushiro / everyone ??) (at the least, if Taichi isn’t aware here yet in this point, Greymon definitely is) (..... depending [on AU circumstances], but let’s just say) (he can tell something’s up at the very least) (and maybe feels a need to protect AU Koushiro[s], too) (it also depends on if it’s the same Agumon [Tri implies it is, now....] but probably if it wasn’t Greymon here would still be involved on the side too he’s awesome like that?? [even if in a heartbreaking way]) [to be continued] (also the ending scenes of each to be elaborated on later too)

Taishiro Fic Notes: REPEAT? [06]

Pt./Chapter 6 under the cut! [previous parts’ notes]

Ch. 6 - “Cliche”

OK so this chapter was written about halfway through everything as I was thinking of some shorter interlude bits and also trying to relate a bit more of KageDaze inspiration and Taichi’s feelings, for a change (also some of these weren’t included in the outline due to being written about halfway through everything and after said outline was finished)

In KageDaze yes, there is a line of the song: “in this kind of cliched story, there can only be one ending” ... which continues into: “beyond that repeating summer day, it has to exist” in this bit it’s mainly just the “cliche” quote that’s paralleled but the second quote is basically, (in the original KageDaze music video and this parody) right before the switching of the timelines yup right when the boy protagonist makes the decision to change the timelines yup ok so Taichi here is essentially. yeah. becoming aware this part also kind of, as mentioned in the notes, briefly started as an AU version with the archaeology AU (I was thinking maybe they eventually had the park scene somewhere, too - maybe they still do in an AU of the AU... maybe not...) but kind of blended into the younger Taichi’s frustrations a lot more so it kind of changed to Adventures Taishiros along the way?? basically, this may or may not be the “park” setting where Taichi and Koushiro have various heart to hearts before they up and leave and (yeah. BAM TIMELINE OVER) but I had some other ideas for that too (as you can tell) so basically anything concerning the park scene is like... various interpretations/timelines y u p a lot of this bit was explained in the chapters’ end notes too yeah basically, Taichi hasn’t had his most major character developments here, yet Vamdemon arc hasn’t yet happened Mugendramon arc hasn’t yet happened this part takes place not long after they return to the Real World so yes?? - speaking of that. Timeloops probably starts to become even worse around this point, yes. (will explain in further detail later) (it’s kind of related in the outline but I’ll elaborate more towards the end) basically, also, Taichi is feeling hopeless. What exactly can he say? Anymore?? “It’ll be ok”, “I’ll protect you”, common phrases like that won’t help. (... ?) Words like simple “...yeah”s won’t (really) help. (... ??) So, what even can Taichi do about all of this? How can he help Koushiro stop this thing when it’s so pointless?? (He’s supposed to be the ‘leader’ but...??) (in a situation like this ... ??) It relates to him a bit personally outside of timeloop AUs maybe, too. (basically see the chapters’ end notes, yeah.) (There’s also lots of vaguely related imagery from Koushiro’s songs, here) [specific dialogue notes] - ‘ Like how he sometimes feels like he -- wishes -- he could -- melt -- into the computer screen. ‘ Version Up (Adventure character song): [verse 1] Start by clicking to a dream Let's swim, jump to the future We'll go on a journey To find the window that reflects truth [chorus] And then We'll be reborn anew And be able to forgive So Let's jump together To the other side of the image [- verse 2] When I don't know what do to, I access And type a message on the keyboard To freeze my cowardly self Until I can fly away - ‘ Like how he's felt like that ever since he overheard his parents, that very first night. ‘ TIMELOOPS AWARENESS but also novels Koushiro (yeah) and Koushiro in general outside of timeloops AU - ‘ Like how he feels like a 'm i s t a k e'. ‘ Kioku no Kakera / Shards of Memory (Tri character song): Even if I scream ‘I don’t know anything’ An erased fragment of memory will produce A closed wall to encourage you with the words [“Right” “I want to know” “Mistake”] written all over - ‘  ...Like how he isn't really as smart as he sounds. ‘ basically, his insecurities (maybe he isn’t really as smart as thought) like he gives himself credit for it in ways too but when it seems like everything at every turn is trying to kill you/outsmarting you, yeah..... (hello Mugendramon arc) - ‘ "You are! You're -- you're cool ‘ again with Taichi emphasizing the cool (relates to pt. 1/ch. 1) ("You thought it was 'cool'? That's... probably the first time I heard that.") (or, ’ no one’s ever called [my work/me] cool, before ‘) - ‘ ("...I'm just. Repeating what I've read -- memorized -- in books... online...") ‘ basically. being the smart one isn’t always fun especially not when you’re second-guessing if you’re really ‘smart’ or if you just have. a crazy good memory (but what’s the use of a crazy good memory if you can’t use it in the way you’d like to the most?) - ‘ "How does someone even come up with 'original' things, anyway?" ‘ MTE TAICHI HOW DO PEOPLE DO IT (like I know I know ‘thinking outside the box’ j u s t) (yes I love critical thinking too j u s t) ( ... well, the overall theme is still ‘Cliche’) - ‘ On one hand, he feels a bit... (Fluttery...?) But on the other... ("I'm really not that amazing.") ...He wonders what Taichi-san sees in him. ‘ ‘ Fluttery’ because... well, it’s Taichi. Praising him. But then his doubts start creeping in, again... (also note the original line above was, ‘I’m not really that amazing’) (which changes to emphasized ‘I’m really not that amazing’) (it doesn’t help that Koushiro feels even more helpless, himself) - ‘ (Hey, Koushiro?) (What did Koushiro see in him, anyway?) ‘ yeahhhh parallels (Taichi’s fear of Koushiro seeing too much in him and putting too much faith in him when Taichi’s only going to [Taichi assumes] let him down later??) aaand eventually they’re going to be forced to get up and leave and um (BAD END) (..... unless) (TAICHI STOP) (”beyond this repeating summer day, it has to exist”) [to be continued]

Taishiro Fic Notes: REPEAT?_

Ch. 4, pt. 1 under the cut! (skipping pts./chapters 2+3 for now, will get back to them later!) (beginning fic notes: here) (original fic outline: here)

- This chapter was super embarrassing omg Taichi WHY ARE YOU EMBARRASSING - Taichi voice “IT’S NOT MY FAULT” - ok but it actually isn’t maybe you’re ok Taichi [specific dialogue notes] - ‘wait you do THAT with him and you're just gonna LEAVE, that's even worse maybe?!’ tbh I agree with rambly Taichi here like (ok but jk jk but [Taichi avoided the BAD END?? ?]) (lbr if he had left and didn’t get to join on the dig eventually, well.....) (thinking about it I didn’t plan it this exact way but maybe subconsciously kind of had them stay together during the whole time because if they did separate who knows what could have happened to them) (basically them being around each other also can maybe help stop the loop?) - ‘but his skin is giving off a surprising amount of shine’ yeah Koushiro’s inner glow is REALLY going off here (lbr Koushiro is. pleased. yeah) (.... I didn’t plan this exactly this way either but legit now that I think about it this could parallel things too .....) - ‘ "shin-ji-te-ru" ("shinjiteru", "believe")’ this bit was explained in the notes for this part but also thinking about it (YEAH) (... ok this bit was planned but unplanned is) (maybe Koushiro subconsciously was getting some hope back from all of this yeah .....) (I was kinda thinking the new meeting with Taichi in this timeline kind of helps him subconsciously start believing in things [himself] again??) - ‘ I believe in you ‘ (that too) (re: Taichi) (lbr though he never stops believing in Taichi though) - ‘  He seems to not quite know what to do with himself still, when he looks up suddenly, as if sensing, and his black eyes stare right at Taichi. ’ ok this bit was planned a bit. Basically Koushiro was going about in a sort of mental daze earlier (because of the previous nights’ events too but also because of his dreams, the name in the back of his mind.... etc. etc.) but for once it was a more... pleasant one? anyhow, their subconscious both probably ping whenever the other’s around (naturally too) but probably extra so for Koushiro, yup. it doesn’t help that Koushiro’s hyper aware in canon too at many points like that comes with the Knowledge thing and having a sharp mind and noticing the little details yup - ‘ "...Your tie...?" ('I FORGOT MY TIE--') ‘ ok this part was NOT super intended but... “Tai” puns.... (a-ahahaha) (look, dubverse probably does exist in background timelines somewhere too, ok) (even though I don’t typically write in it anymore) (and I disliked a lot of the script changes/etc. even re: some important Taishiros) (..... negl the overly 90s vibe of the dub and their overall personalities/voice actors there still give me feelings too though yeah ;;) (so take this as a sort of mini tribute aha) (... oh also. still. maybe. “Ta-i-”--) - ‘ Koushiro interrupts him this time. "...! Your name -- I, um, didn't..." He suddenly seems like he's about to think hard, like a thought came to mind all of a sudden, and he wants to think about it but he's trying to keep his gaze focused on Taichi too, his mouth pursed but a bit uneven as he tries to keep ...steady. ‘ Again, relating to him trying to subconsciously remember Taichi’s name from the last part. (Koushiro’s trying to subconsciously keep him from leaving too, maybe) (they weren’t as in danger here this time since Taichi would have stayed in most instances but yeah, if either of them leaves...) (and um. no comment on ‘steady’) - "...I-It's Taichi. Yagami Taichi." There's a fraction of a section of silence. Koushiro keeps staring. (SUBCONSCIOUSLY REMEMBERING ALERT SUBCONSCIOUSLY REMEMBERING ALERT) (Koushiro’s probably like “.........” mentally right there) (even if it takes a fraction of a second for him to actually react yup) - ‘ "...Taichi-san, then." ‘ dun dun dunnnnn (SUBCONSCIOUSLY REMEMBERS THE “-SAN”) (AND THAT IT’S “TAICHI-SAN”) - "Normally, I'd call you Yagami-san." Taichi freezes. Koushiro's mouth quirks -- just slightly. "...But I think we've become too acquainted for that." Koushiro is stubborn like that ??) - ‘ "I... look, Koushiro? (He really deserves an honorific from Taichi's idiotic self, for once, but then again Taichi literally already used his name since...) ‘ (...since the night before, yes, Taichi) same thing here (Taichi subconsciously remembers to use ‘Koushiro’ sans honorific) (he does that normally with most people anyway, but Koushiro’s special yup) (because Koushiro doesn’t take offense to him using only ‘Koushiro’ when he normally might with someone he doesn’t know well or like, and that maybe makes Taichi feel kind of nice too) - ‘ I swear I don't want to hurt you or anything, I really really--" "You haven't hurt me." ‘ Taichi seriously did not want to hurt Koushiro ok Koushiro SERIOUSLY is not hurt by it ok (ok but this was also to emphasize yes it was consensual and yes they both very much enjoyed it) (... also Koushiro puts a freaking huge amount of trust in Taichi yup) -’  "Even during that," Koushiro adds, almost maddeningly. "...Taichi-san." Koushiro pauses, blinks a bit, suddenly. "...That wasn't where my train of thought was originally going, but it was..." Koushiro corrects himself. "What you... we... did..... it was nice. Taichi-san." ('Uh?!') "Very nice. ... You really haven't hurt me." ‘ (again, emphasized) ‘That wasn’t where my train of thought was originally going’ - it actually wasn’t, p-pfft. but yeah, Koushiro’s maybe uh. remembering the night before and realizing yeah, he should emphasize this and stop Taichi from freaking out further - ‘ ('"Nice?'"... "Very"? - Or? But-' 'Wait, what else can you really expect--?! Your sorry ass should be GRATEFUL he even called it 'nice' after that, he should be DROPKICKING YOU INTO THE STRATOSPHERE RIGHT ABOUT NOW--!!') ‘ (I’M SORRY TAICHI PICKING ON YOU IS FUN) (but yeah lbr Taichi you’re seriously lucky Koushiro is seriously too kind for his [and your] own good) - ‘ "N-No, I meant-" Taichi feels about ready to fall right where he's standing. "Not like that, but like - I don't want to hurt you. Koushiro. I really don't want to hurt you, I messed up, you don't deserve--" "You really haven't hurt me." Koushiro is insisting now, driving his gaze into Taichi, and Taichi's words falter and fall. He stares back at Koushiro. "I... you..." "It was... enjoyable." Koushiro is looking away again, and Taichi isn't sure if he should feel worse or not? Koushiro's eyes flicker back to Taichi. "What I'm trying to say, Taichi-san, is... I don't mind." "...But I'd like to know more about you, too." Taichi's mind freezes to a complete halt. Again. ‘ /DUN DUN DUNNNNN aaaand Koushiro drives the point home (also, when Koushiro looks away - Koushiro’s tendency to look away when he’s nervous or closed off, yeah?) (Taichi notices and he really hates seeing Koushiro worried/upset even moreso if it’s because of him so yeah) (this relates to a bit in pt. 2 as well... towards the end yeah .....) (but it’s ok Taichi, Koushiro was nervous because of all of this ok) (.... also Koushiro was maybe a bit calculated here too like he often is when he’s trying to make a point, especially a serious point) ... ok thinking about it too I should probably mention this now, but. So in this universe, it’s a ‘nevermet’ AU, right? in the original fic outline, I mention how the timelines become so messed up even nevermet AUs form? well, I imagine in quite a number of them, they might subconsciously be trying to stay away from each other (or not interfere with each other) - this later kind of relates to Taichi speaking with the younger Koushiro in his dream towards the end. Each of the two eventually blames themselves, subconsciously, and they don’t want the other to keep dying because of them. They know it’s pointless to keep trying, but... (ok but they seriously need to stop blaming themselves they were kids they were kids they didn’t ask for this ok. ok.) Well, so, in some nevermet AUs, depending, they’re maybe subconsciously putting themselves far away from the other, as if maybe that’d also help keep the loop stable or something, somehow. Because if they never meet, maybe the other won’t die, right? The other of them will be safe, right? It’s better this way, right? (..... hahahaha) So in the above section - Koushiro’s basically subconsciously making a decision. To pursue this timeline with Taichi further, yes. Maybe this time, they can... - ‘ Koushiro looks down. "....I'm not very good with feelings, though." ‘ .... he really isn’t (especially not in this verse) (I’M SORRY KOUSHIRO)

(but in canon too) - ‘ "K-Koushiro..." Taichi's voice is a bit weak. "N-no, you... you deserve so much better than this kind of - one night stand, or one night stands, or - I'm really bad at this, too--" "I'd be fine with just one night stands." Taichi is about to open his mouth to protest again (something like 'don't be fine with that!!') ‘ ... yeahhhhh so if it wasn’t obvious enough in fic basically, Koushiro is ... struggling ..... a lot in this timeline, yeah. (also indirectly paralleled by the original Koushiro/our Koushiro struggling) he’s probably been through Depression Hell and back multiple times even (... it’s probably chronic by this point, to be honest?) (I think canon Koushiro probably deals with it a bit easier, but still... it has a tendency to resurface down the road, and especially with this timeline) (not helped by the adoption reveal still not having happened) and tbh (he probably would be fine with just one night stands.) (but Koushiro that’s the wrong way to go about it here, maybe) ok but Taichi’s thinking right here yeah (’don’t be fine with that!!’) - ‘ but Koushiro shuts him up with his next line -- "...But I really wouldn't mind more than that, too." "When I said I want to get to know Taichi-san, I .... meant it." Taichi feels himself physically drain. ('M-maybe it's ok?? Maybe I haven't royally screwed up completely yet??') ('Maybe....') ‘ ok so here (dun dun dunnn) Taichi’s giving in yeah ok but also he was probably mentally freaking out thinking like -- Our War Game kind of, you know?? like the Taiora wasn’t canon intended yeah (it was due to staff not knowing about Sorato endgame) and I don’t intend it here either (Taiora’s actually kind of like... close to the very bottom of my ship preferences I’m sorry [even moreso than Koumi tbh there I said it I’d still take Koumi in more certain ways/fanworks I’m just extremely picky with it] and I very much prefer it [too] portrayed only in very specific ways though [same goes for Taiorato though I’m more open to that] like. again. I’m a multishipper I don’t mind fanworks and very much enjoy alternative portrayals too ok please leave me be. it’s just not in here though) but still, a similar feeling - he doesn’t want to screw this up, and definitely not with Koushiro (and this .....) (also, this kind of relates to mentioned Sorato in this universe a bit too, yeah.) (he’s not jealous over Sora, but he is maybe scared of losing more friends and being alone -- because this Taichi only had them for so long) (because he didn’t have Koushiro) [this chapter was kind of long so for longer ones I may revise these later!] [to be continued]

Taishirou Fic Notes: REPEAT?_

(For Chapters/Parts 1+2) Under the cut!... (... There’ll be spoilers for the entirety of the fic) (This is a preliminary draft/outline until I can make it neater ? looking yeah pfft) (Also see the original fic outline for more earlier elaboration)

-- Chapters 1+2 --

- These chapters are somewhat partly self explanatory; the ‘prologue’ of sorts that set everything up. I think they were the third/fourth or so pieces that I wrote / outlined for this thing? (After the couple of chapters towards the very end...) - This entire idea spawned when I was thinking of Taishiro AU ideas [including previous ones I’ve had] and basically going ‘what’s a Koushiro AU I hadn’t thought of yet??’ - Somehow my mind went ‘ARCHAEOLOGIST ..... KOUSHIRO’ ??? ‘PLUS TIMELOOPS / KAGEDAZE TAISHIRO AU’ ??? PLUS ‘COLLEGE AU’ ???? - Essentially I was thinking of careers Koushiro could have in the real world that would a) be suitable for him b) satisfy his thirst for Knowledge [while also relating to how Knowledge is used in the timeloops] c) would take him a while to complete, but be very worthwile to him in the end d) would have some mystery / intrigue involved, especially when connecting to the Digital World e) would keep him close to Taichi [because he relates tech with it, and is involved in higher education / etc., eventually it could lead to him still becoming a researcher like in the canon epilogue in the end, or in other spinoff AU thoughts... also Taichi having a law-related career that keeps him close to Koushiro] ... etc. etc. - then my mind went ‘OH THAT’S A GOOD IDEA I CAN ALSO RELATE IT TO ‘THAT THING’ YEAH’ (i.e. THE WELL the well where HE FINDS HIS CREST) - however in the back of my mind I was probably also thinking of a super-cute old Cardcaptor Sakura series 1 episode / moment in which then still mostly newly introduced “rival” to Sakura, Syaoran Li, watches Fujitaka Kinomoto’s archaeology presentation. Syaoran grows more and more interested the point he’s internally [and externally, but ‘hiding’ it (well ? from Fujitaka, badly otherwise)] cheering over it when Fujitaka offers to show him more archaeology related things in the future - only to immediately find out next Fujitaka is Sakura Kinomoto’s father [hahaaaa]. Of course Syaoran x Sakura becomes the canon couple in the end anyhow [hahaaaaa. sorry Syaoran ilu but you were pretty amusing back then and also v. tsun in that ‘fail’ kind of way] (some of his early tsun expressions kinda remind me of Adventure Taichi too??) (...Our War Game Taichi even kind of ??) - So my mind might have subconsciously been ‘combining’ all those things (along with an image in my head of photographer Koushiro from Tri studying things in the Digital World) and basically turning that implied Syaoran/Sakura + Archaeology things [if indirectly] into Taishiro + Archaeology AU yes - (also I was following CCS’s new Clear Card Arc at the time in both manga form first and then anime form, so ... yes it was at the back of my mind) - The first lines that basically spurred on this AU were the opening rambles / summary but more notably what immediately came to mind was Koushiro’s “Oh, I’M adopted.” - line, in response to Taichi’s dumb question literally HE WROTE HIMSELF (Koushiro - unfortunately - never has a scene in-show where he actually talks about it with the other Chosen, not even in an 02 era cd drama where he was literally visiting his biological parents’ graves and right after on the way home runs into the other Adventure Chosen sans Taichi and Yamato - and he STILL doesn’t even bring his biological parents up at all, not even that he was just visiting them like ‘oh, I was just on my way back from...’ - so essentially this is him saying it right off the bat and startling Taichi indirectly with it while he’s at it.) - It also prevents having to take forever to set that particular reveal up ... while at the same time taking forever to set that reveal up in Adventure universe and with more impact otherwise hahaaa. (CRY) - So, these two chapters are the setup. - You may notice there’s a feeling of ‘something’s definitely not quite right here’ or ‘something’s up’ all through these parts, the writing style (I basically kind of... mentally storyboard, then translate that into an outline, then storyboard again, then attempt to write anything etc. etc.), (but also the kind of ‘limited’ writing style, too) and basically the entire fic. That’s the timeloops effect lingering in the background, impacting events / feelings / actions, etc. Even the slightest things like Koushiro’s expressions as he regards Taichi, the tiniest movements he makes, or Taichi’s mind running a little (A LOT) more wildly than usual. - When Taichi first hears Koushiro’s ‘(smooth) voice drifting through the open door’, that’s basically the timeloops effect slamming into him right from the get-go. His mind is running wildly subconsciously too like ‘WHAT? WHAT?? WHAT???’ because he’s so confused / startled / scared / basically majorly freaked out to the point of a feeling of dread / horror etc. l-lolll poor Taichi I’M SORRY I love you really (this is also the KageDaze inspired effect because poor Hibiya there, too, [the boy] is basically this through most of the song) [specific dialogue notes] -  ‘ok, he's not really a "kid", he's a fellow adult, but Taichi's mind seems to insist on calling him that, for some reason....’ and all of the ‘his age’ bits etc. - Taichi’s mind is subconsciously relating Koushiro’s actual age to him (‘he’s younger than you think!!! you KNEW HIM IN SCHOOL!!! BEFORE!!!’) except he’s not fully realizing, of course. - short-cut spiky red hair and pure black eyes ('why are you staring so intently at his eyes, idiot!!') Again, timeloops effect slamming. Taichi’s recognizing Koushiro’s features right away and what stands out the most are his hair [dark red] and his eyes [somehow pure black (...lol fandom injoke?)]. This also relates in ch. 4, “Bridge” - when young Taichi notices Koushiro’s red hair ‘stands out the most’ in the light, and Koushiro’s (eyes are) staring right at him (because that young Koushiro’s becoming aware of the loops and freaked out / feeling dread crashing into him, himself). (also other similar parts of the fic) This also relates to novels Koushiro knowing he ‘stands out like a sore thumb’ in class (and how that line relates later with the Izumis / his adoption, as well.) - social sciences? Psychology? Health in general? Science itself? ARCHAEOLOGY??! Basically Koushiro is a freaking genuis [timeloops.... effect] [but also natural hhhh-ha] and subconsciously-or-not relating his career to as many ‘Knowledge’-gathering fields as possible, yeah. SLOW DOWN KOUSHIRO - and he's talking so animatedly and precisely and smartly because again, Child of Knowledge / timeloops. (He’d probably be an amazing professional teacher too negl) (and also how do both his seiyuu/voice actors sound so good HOW). Ok but for real, this is also simultaneously Koushiro’s ‘professional mode’ and / or his ‘mask’ so to speak. He’s enjoying it too, mostly, but... at the same time, it’s like going through the motions.... Koushiro ;A;/ - Taichi keeps staring at him, how is he so... pretty - ('wait what?!') ('but he kind of is, in that way where he has this glow about him-') Timeloops effect reminding him yes, Taichi, you are definitely attracted to Koushiro Izumi (maybe a bit too much) Koushiro’s ‘glow’ is basically him becoming animated / excited whenever he talks about Knowledge-related topics he’s particularly interested in! (But also kind of like... his inner... glow ehehhh....) - The presenter (Izumi?) turns around and stares at him directly, sharply, (kindly?) with those black eyes and says semi-brightly despite the situation he's in, in front of this room full of dumb college kids like Taichi himself - "Oh, I'M adopted." Dun dun dunnnn (hey, Taichi, did you REALLY get Koushiro’s last name/name or-) (...he didn’t) Now Koushiro’s directly focusing his attentions on Taichi, subconsciously recognizing him while he’s at it. He’s staring ‘kindly’ because of the warm feelings his subconscious / past self has towards Taichi; while also out of genuine kindness / intrigue from this universes’ Koushiro himself. Koushiro’s definitely feeling that ‘pull’ but at the same time warning bells are going off like crazy in his head too, and maybe subconsciously freaking him out too (although he’s a little more logical about it than Taichi, maybe... ...? or trying to not panic before he finishes this thing anyway) - After the presentation is over, the kid is gathering up his things outside the room, and fixing his slightly moved tie all neatly, and Taichi approaches him awkwardly from behind. THE TRUE MEETING and basically they’re both subconsciously knowing they were going to have to talk here but .... - "Izumi" turns to stare at him, more intently, now. "It's all right. ...?" (He was a little confused as to why this cool looking kid [??] bothered apologizing to him for that, but he accepts it...) Koushiro’s staring intently because he’s so hyper-focused subconsciously, but also because he likes giving his full attention where it matters in general, too. Also ‘cool looking kid’ is Taichi’s mind thinking maybe that’s how Koushiro might see him, basically. (TAICHI PLS....) (ok but he also added the ‘??’ because he realizes... yeah TAICHI PLS) (Koushiro was a bit surprised this boy actually did think to apologize, but....) - Koushiro smiles slightly. Actually smiles. KOUSHIRO’S SMILES ARE VERY IMPORTANT IN THIS FIC OK Koushiro smiles so impassioned-ly at the start of everything (especially in this verse, where he rarely gets the chance to smile AT ALL it doesn’t help that this Koushiro didn’t go to the Digital World, didn’t make any close friends, DIDN’T MEET TENTOMON OR TAICHI and etc....) - so that when this Koushiro smiles genuinely, it’s SUPER IMPORTANT, OK - "Are you interested? I'm afraid the next dig is already scheduled very soon, but..." "Wait, you're leaving, soon-?!" ('Shut up, you idiot!!') Koushiro is looking at him oddly now - Taichi’s mind is going even more wild with the warning bells and basically yelling ‘SOMETHING’S DEFINITELY WRONG HERE DON’T LET HIM GO IF YOU LET HIM GO HE’S GOING TO UP AND LEAVE AND YOU’LL NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN !!!!!’ (Also his mind running wild kind of parallels Ep 21′s inspirations too??) (don’t forget Taichi hasn’t had a lot of his ‘character development’ here as well) Koushiro’s looking at him oddly because he’s having a similar feeling but trying to figure out what the heck is up with this and ... this boy... ? - Koushiro is about ready to have to leave again, and Taichi thinks as fast as he can. Taichi’s not ... as known for his thinking deeply in canon when he’s younger (lol) (well, um, pre...? SkullGreymon ? anyhow maybe w-wah) and considering WARNING BELLS he’s basically thinking of the ‘last resort’ type thing he can say / ask / (yell?) / etc. (or - BAM, TIMELINE OVER BAD END). - "W-Wait, which area are you in-?" Koushiro turns with a raised eyebrow and another slight smile. Koushiro’s raising his eyebrow / smiling because he’s basically internally thinking ‘...This one, hmm ..... ‘ - He lives in fucking Odaiba. Literally a block away from Taichi. ('SHIIIIIIIIIIT') ('TAICHI YOU ARE AN IDIOT') ... oh. (yeah) (TIMELOOOOOOPS EFFEEEEEECT) (TAICHI YOU ARE AN IDIOT) -- Chapter 2 -- (kind of) - He doesn't know how it happens, but in some other universe somewhere, he probably ends up not walking Koushiro home and regretting it for the rest of his life when Koushiro just ups and leaves on an archaeology dig somewhere and Taichi never sees him again - ('Seriously, stop thinking!!') So yeah, that part about ‘YOU’LL NEVER SEE HIM AGAIN’ ?? [Taichi(+Koushiro) avoided the BAD END ?? ?] [to be continued]
