Why do I award BalanWonderworld as a masterpiece?

Introduction

⚠️I'm using a translator, so I apologize if any parts are difficult to read.

In this article, I will write about why I award Balan Wonderworld as a masterpiece, with answers to criticisms.

When I played the demo version, I thought this game was SO BAD. But I believed Yuji Naka and bought the full version. (Before I knew it, I had bought four of them...) I'm not raving blindly about it.

At first, I was hopelessly disappointed because nothing had changed from the demo version. However, in chapters 2 and 3, I was impressed by the three-dimensionality and beauty of the stages, and in chapter 4, I realized the comfort of gaining freedom through the acquisition of costumes.

By the time I was completely finished, I was convinced that this game was a great piece of work.

This is an article that I wrote after spending nearly 100 hours on this game.

I hope you will read it.

Main part

First of all, this game is not a game with flashy action as its primary objective. (Flashy battle action is possible in some scenes.)

【Puzzle】　【RPG】　【Exploration】

It is structured around these three main components.

The game also features a "Balance AI" that senses the player's movements and makes changes to the difficulty and world. There is also a presentation of my own work, so please take a look!

Please read with the above in mind.

■ One button action is stressful.

▶︎ As mentioned earlier, this game is not intended for flashy action. At its root, it is an RPG and does not require multiple buttons. The reason it's a simple operation is because it doesn't need to be.

There is only one button, but instead the player is given the freedom to select up to three actions of their choice. The way to play Balan is to find your own strategy within these constraints.

Some people point out that you can't jump, but only a few outfits limit jumping. Most of them are attack-oriented outfits. It's up to you to decide whether you want more attack power or more movement power.

If you're still not convinced, this game just isn't to your liking.(If that's you, I recommend the Wii version of Rodea.)

NiGHTS and Sonic are also action games with simple controls, but the concept is different from Baran, as explained below.

From the very beginning, NiGHTS and Sonic are one-button games that allow for exhilarating action. The action feels good and allows for improvement through trial and error.

However, Balan begins in a state of helplessness. One of his goals is to use his wits and eventually gain the power to run freely around the three-dimensional stage.

Freedom from discomfort. This catharsis is the best part of Balan.

It is also linked to the story's theme of opening closed minds.

■ The structure of the puzzle is sketchy.

▶︎ There is an intention behind this. By making the puzzle structure more flexible, the player is given more choices.

Therefore, each player will have a completely different solution to obtaining a single statue.

Also, each time you play the game, you will find new strategies, making it a game that can be played repeatedly.

This is the reason why Yuji Naka was so confident about this game.

Personally, I think that this action with a puzzle concept has a similar point of view to card games and rock-paper-scissors.

The Mega Man series is a typical example of a game that requires you to observe the situation and your opponent's movements to find the right technique and move. In fact, there is a famous episode where it was derived from rock-paper-scissors. This is also a game where you can enjoy improving through trial and error, but I think the structure of the rules is similar to that of Balan.

■ It's a pain to stock up on costumes.

▶︎ There is no need to overstock costumes. The minimum number of costumes needed to clear the course will naturally be available. Dependence on certain costumes can make the game monotonous. Also, the BalanceAI can sense your movements and take countermeasures.

As the difficulty level increases, you will have a hard time because the costumes will not come back.

The game is made more interesting by the style of play that allows you to use all the costumes to their fullest extent and bring out the true value of each one.

If you run out, explore the stage while collecting costumes. It may lead to new discoveries.

Even if you don't have a specific costume, there are many situations you can get through by applying other costumes.

This degree of freedom is what makes Balan so interesting. The strategy is left to your imagination.

■ The stage is curved. Isn't this a useless design?

▶︎ The curvature of the map allows you to see every corner of the stage. You may be confused because there is no other game that tries to do something like this. However, this is an ideal map for exploration games.

The basics of this gimmick are used as of chapter 1. Chapter 7, which has particularly large differences in elevation, makes good use of this gimmick.

■ The difficulty level is too low.

This game is designed to follow the above flow thoroughly. As a result, the difficulty level in the early stages is kept low, but the endgame is quite difficult. I almost lost my mind in chapter 12.

The bosses are easy to defeat. However, it is difficult to conquer all three strategy patterns.

Also, if you keep defeating enemies quickly without taking damage, the difficulty level will increase.Stronger and faster enemies will appear in large numbers.I found the difficulty level increased at chapter 3.

In other words, the difficulty of the game depends on how good you are.

■ I want to have a HP separate from my costume.

▶︎ This system prompts the player to use a different costume in case of failure.

Depending on the situation, you can either sacrifice valuable costumes, or use inconvenient but well-stocked costumes... The game throws a variety of choices at the player. This gameplay becomes more apparent as the difficulty level increases.

If you separate the HP from the costume, this tense gameplay will be lost.

The system of choosing outfits based on what will happen next fosters the ability to think and survive on one's own. It will also help the child's ego independence.

■ I need more explanations and hints. It's designed in an unfriendly way.

▶︎ It's not a game that requires you to do anything difficult, so if you think about it, you should be able to understand it to some extent. All you have to do is immerse yourself in collecting statues by any route you can think of.

Some people criticize Balan for being old-fashioned, but they are missing the point.

Games are essentially content that teaches you to think and act for yourself. This is a posting of what games should be, and a refreshing return to the basics.

However, I don't mean to criticize modern games. The immersive feeling of being in a movie, and the friendly design of the UI that shows you where you are going so you don't get lost. I think it's a beautiful evolution for today's hectic world where it's hard to find time to be alone.

However, to be honest, it is abnormal to say that only works that follow the latest trends are evaluated, and it is difficult to say that there is creativity in such works. Evolving technology and the presence or absence of originality have completely different meanings.

I would like to say that games like Balan, which have their own rules and think for themselves, are what we need today.

■ I don't understand the story. I want subtitles.

▶︎ With both video and dubbing, the amount of information is extremely high. By not using real words, all the people in the world have the exact same experience. Very romantic, don't you think?

It's not to dismiss the unspoken parts as non-existent, but to let your imagination run wild and have fun with it.

Since ancient times, there has been an aesthetic in Asia that finds meaning in blank spaces.

If you want a more substantial story, I recommend the novel version, which probably has what you want. It is available for Kindle.

At the end

Balan Wonderworld is a game designed to grow with the player the more time they spend playing.

Despite its gorgeous visuals, the reality of the story is deep and Yuji Naka's philosophy shines through, making it a masterpiece that can be called a compilation of his work.

At first, you may find some scenes difficult or the system annoying. However, they all have a meaning and will make sense as you continue to play.

Balan is built on a very complete system.

EVERY MOMENT IS AN ADVENTURE... This tagline is true.

But the fact is that Balan is a very peaky game. But that's also true for Sonic and NiGHTS.

If you have enjoyed Yuji Naka's past works, you will surely understand the quality of Balan. I recommend that you take the time to face this game first without any preconceived notions.

Now that I've spoken highly of Balan, I'd like to offer some criticism of the official advertising.

I think the main reason for this failure was the poor choice of stages included in the demo version, which made it difficult to convey the fun of expanding the degree of freedom by acquiring costumes, the sense of freedom, and the fun of being able to create a number of unique strategies.

As for the official SNS, rather than introducing the costumes and the storyline by themselves, the official should have done a better job of showing how they are all connected to make this game interesting.

That's how it looked from my personal point of view, but I believe that the current situation is the result of continuous failures in the area of advertising.

I'm so disappointed that this masterpiece is being buried, and I hope that the officials will have the guts to turn its reputation upside down even now.

Hopefully, this game will get the recognition it deserves. I love Balan Wonderworld.

(1) Tell me about your week: Mostly I've been suffering with fatigue and headaches, but I have been working on editing/making my second draft of my original novel (first instalment of a series) when I am able and I went into the city to buy essentials for (2).

(2) Something exciting: Something exciting this is happening is that I am getting a puppy! She's coming home this Thursday and I am so excited! Her name is going to be Isabelle (first name, God's Oath and Beauty) Ai (middle name, Love) and she's a Shih Tzu and Chihuahua cross!

(3) Fandom thoughts: Since it's coming up to Hallowe'en, I have been imagining a ShinKami (because they are my muses right now) fanstory where many of the students and teachers at UA are monsters - vampires, werewolves, dragon-shifters, witches, illusionists, nymphs, etc. In the story, Shinsou is a vampire (Aizawa too) and has received discrimination because of that and his quirk, but, since what monster you are or are not is not mentioned unless good friends, him and Kaminari become friends. (Shinsou became better at blending in so people don't immediately guess he's a vampire anymore.) Then the Bakusquad tell each other what monsters they all are and Kaminari is conflicted - because he's not just human but also from a family of monster hunters (who, to get straight to angst here, have been pretty abusive towards him - like rubbing garlic all over his clothes when he was little to keep vampires away from him, even though he's deathly allergic). The story varies from that point, but that's where it starts!

I don't have the energy to write that story idea myself, as I am already spread thin between my original novel and Risks Worth Taking (which I will update when I am able to, but I am focusing on my original novel for now). But I do enjoy imagining it!

(4) Headcanons: Hmmm. So, I get a lot of headcanons for Kaminari because he reminds me a lot of myself from when I was a teenager (cheerful, outgoing, friendly and lacking a filter). I headcanon him to have ADD (and I *should* headcanon him to be autistic like me, as it would explain the lack of a filter, but I don't). I like the headcanon that he might be gender neutral or a trans guy - but at the same time I also like the headcanon that he's a cis guy that is super comfortable with feminine stuff like make up and nail varnish. All of them work for me! I definitely think he has a sister of some kind, probably older, and he knows how to do domestic chores (if not as well as Bakugo). I also headcanon Kaminari as being from a rich family! It would be a fun twist that someone who blends in so well with the others is actually rich like Iida, Yaoyorozu and Todoroki (just nothing to do with heroes). My favourite headcanons are that (a) he's not seriously flirting with people, he's breaking the ice to befriend them and is just naturally flirtatious beyond that and (b) he gets really flustered and can't flirt back when someone flirts with him!

(5) Stories: I don't know what fandoms, outside of BnHA, you are in. But! I recently read, and am reading the sequels which are even better, of this excellent Draco Malfoy (it is Drarry but not yet) time travel story!

And then there's his new wand, whose choice of him could just mark him as every bit as dark a wizard as his name means he should be.

As for a BnHA story, since I've spoken of ShinKami in (3), I will recommend a ShinKami story which is a Romeo and Juliet situation - and very funny!

Kaminari finds himself head over heels for the newest addition to their class, Shinsou Hitoshi. Normally the flirty blonde would just present himself with open arms but there's a major problem with his infatuation. There's unspoken rules in 1-A and Kaminari is part of the Bakusquad...whereas Shinsou is a part of the Dekusquad. The two can't be together. It's just not possible. There's no way Bakugou would ever allow one of his extras to date Deku's friend.

There's only one thing left to do, give up and move on. Too bad Kaminari can't seem to escape Shinsou.

Aka the fic where Kaminari is Romeo and Shinsou is Juliet and they have to secretly date so their squads don't fall into an all out war.

nice headcanons!! I don’t have many for Kaminari myself, I like following other people’s interpretations, but you should headcanon how you want. I’ve never heard someone headcanon about rich!Kaminari much but it could definitely add something interesting to his character/upbringing/interactions. I totally flirt platonically with friends, though only if they’re comfortable with it; that’s very sweet.

Chapter 3

a/n Trying to make these look nicer. I might go back and fix the other 2 as well. Little bit longer this time. I know i said this would probably only be 3 chapters but I only have a general idea of where this is going so as i write it it sorta just gets bigger (and hopefully better but y’all are the judges of that.) I don’t know exactly how many more chapters this will have but probably like 1-2 more. Maybe. I’m not good at sticking to what I say. The question mark is next to language cause I've forgotten like 99% of what I wrote. I need to stop writing these on no sleep. That is my excuse if there are any mistakes. Ok imma stop here now.

It’s been two weeks since Chan first showed up in my history class. Since that lecture he’s always showing up out of nowhere. If we share a class he always sits close to me, but I’ve followed my unspoken rule of not acknowledging his existence hoping he’ll go away. Thankfully he has yet to sit right next to me but with the way my luck has been going he’s gonna do it sooner or later. He hasn’t spoken to me yet but I can hear him react to things I say. Rosé and Lisa are the only people who will sit next to me these days. I don’t know why I’ve suddenly become the center of his attention but I hope everything goes back to normal soon. I run into him All. The. Time. I’m so over it. I’ve started spending a lot of time in the library hoping I’ll get away from him. The worst part about it is all the whispering. No one but Rosé and Lisa talk TO me but everyone else on campus don’t seem to mind talking ABOUT me and why Chan seems to never leave my company. Honestly people don’t you know pointing and staring is rude? I can hear all your whispers, do you think I asked for the hot bad boy who may or may not get me killed to start paying attention to me?

Ever since this whole situation began I’ve picked up the habit of ranting about life out loud. I hate it but it helps relieve the frustration for some reason. I hear him laugh whenever I do it. “For the last time Lisa I am not going. I’ve said it 17 times now, I will not say it again.” Yes I am actually counting. Even though I said that I know she’s gonna keep asking until I crack and say yes, but I am as stubborn as a mule so she will reach the hundreds until I finally do. Unfortunately she has 4 more days until the Halloween party and it’s only 9 am. “It’s gonna be so much fun though. Like everyone is going.” Sigh. “I know they will. That is why I’ll be staying home and watching Horton hears a who for the 25th time on Netflix.” It was the wind, just ignore it, it’s definitely not Chan. “But it’s ha… Did you say 25 times? Really?” Don’t look at me like that or I’ll bite you. “Yes. Stop with the face, it’s a masterpiece of cinematography.” 100 percent the wind. “Oook, moving on. You have to come. I already told Binnie you’d be there.” I’m just glad she stopped flinching whenever he makes a noise. That really got on my nerves. “You know how disappointed she’ll be if you don’t show.” Oh she’s pulling all the stops now. “That’s just low. You know I can’t say no to those puppy dog eyes of hers.” Thankfully she’s not actually here. “It’s still a no and I’ll just have to deal with the disappointment.”

True to my thoughts she continued to pester me about going to the party until 4 days later 3 hours before the party I cracked. It wasn’t just Lisa though, she bought reinforcements. “I’m actually gonna kill all of you. I know how to make it look like natural causes too. I spend far too much time on the internet.” They could at least let me choose my own outfit but no, here I am on my bed just glaring at them as they rifle through my clothing in an attempt to find something they deem “suitable”. That meaning as short as humanly possible with plenty of skin showing up top. “Yes dear we know.” Why’d they have to bring Binnie into it? I know her sorority is the one throwing it but I can’t deny that girl anything. She’s adorable. If it were just Rosé and Lisa I would’ve been fine….. probably. Ok I wouldn’t have been but I can pretend. As much as I hate this I’m just happy that Binnie doesn’t seem to care about my whole Bad Boy Leech Problem™. She came back from her month break found out what happened and just rolled with it. “I don’t have time to go back to my dorm, Rosie got anything she can wear? Nothing I’ve found is good enough. “Hmmmm, maybe. I think I have a good one. Just a sec.” Well, they don’t like my clothes, nice. “Come here and let Binnie start your hair while I set up the makeup.” They aren’t even going to see me coming. They’ll be going about their day and then I’ll just be there. Then they’ll be gone and I’ll use my elite skills to, “Oww, Binnie.” She’s first even though she’s my favorite. “Sorry. Don’t worry the hair will cover the burn.” Don’t look at me with that cute smile. I’m tryna be mad at you. “What do you think?” I think I’d rather wear jeans and a hoodie but I don’t get a choice. “Isn’t this a halloween party? Why am I not going as a bunny or something?” I have the perfect onesie for it. “We got you a mask.” Yes, because that’s the best halloween costume. “It’s perfect Rosie.” Makeup happened at this point.

I’ve been here all of 20 minutes and I’m already over it. People with red plastic cups everywhere, people making out wherever I look. PDA, disgusting. Everyone is dressed up in actual halloween costumes. The three demons that caused my pain are dressed as a slutty bunny, a slutty maid and a cute angel, 2 guesses as to which one that is. Speaking of slutty bunny is headed my way with 2 red plastic cups. “You could at least pretend to be having a good time.” I don’t think Rosé understands how deep my hatred for these events runs. “I could. But then people would think I’m here by choice. I want everyone to know that I want to be anywhere but here.” I need some wood because of her next sentence, or maybe a bottle to hit her with. That would also work. “At least you know Chan won’t be here. He’s never been to one of these parties.” She’s jinxed it now. I’m gonna have to look over my shoulder the whole time I’m here now. “I can’t believe you’ve done this.” She’s laughing. The absolute nerve. I’ve changed my mind, she’s first. “Calm down and drink your worries away.” Easy for her to say, she doesn’t have a Bad Boy Leech Problem™. Sipping the drink she handed me as she walks away I scan the room to see if I can find Binnie. She’s the only reason I’m here so I’ll be damned if I let her get away from my moping. Making a bee line for her as soon as she came into sight I was stopped by some guy dressed as Luigi who was tryna dance all up on me even as I tried to get past to Binnie. “Dude imma stand on your toe if you don’t skedaddle.” It seems he didn’t quite hear me. “I said-“ Gonna kill all of em’. “She said beat it kid.” Especially Rosé. Luigi couldn’t seem to get out of the way fast enough. Continuing on my quest to get to Binnie I felt him follow. I hate how well I’ve adapted to ignoring him.

When I finally reached Binnie which took a lot less time than expected, probably because of the guard leech, she took one look at me then looked to Chan, then back to me and I could see the apology in her eyes. Those goddamn puppy dog eyes. “We will talk later but just know my statement stands. You’ll never see it coming.” Having Chan standing right there seemed to be making her nervous so I just let out a sigh and moved to find a corner that was loud enough that holding conversation would be to troublesome but quiet enough that I won’t go deaf. “We can go anywhere you want and I promise I won’t try to make conversation.” Do I trust that or should I keep looking for my perfect corner. Giving him the benefit of the doubt I find a nice secluded corner to hide from everyone in. And he’s gone. How did I not notice that until now? Should I be relieved? I know I should but I feel a little disappointed. Taking another sip of my drink if whatever it is I noticed something. It’s empty. I don’t remember drinking it but it’s gone and there’s nothing on my dress or shoes so I assume I didn’t spill it. “Did you seriously only now realize your cup is empty? Not very observant are you?” It’s a good thing the cup was empty because it would be all over the both of us. He is a ninja, I swear. I didn’t see him at all and now he’s right in front of me. “What happened to not making conversation?” I need to work on my Glare of Doom™, he didn’t even flinch. Handing me a cup of some kind of alcohol I assume, he smirked. Dammit. I acknowledged him. “I was just saying. I’ll stop now.” That god damned smirk is lethal. I looked at the cup, then at him, then at the cup, then at him again but suspiciously. “What is it?” I wanna punch that smirk off his face. “Vodka and lemonade. Don’t worry I’m not trying to drug you.” Sniffing it, as if that would tell me anything, I took a cautious sip. He’s yet to try and kill me and he seems smart enough to realize he’d get caught if he did while surrounded by this many people. It tastes the same as what Rosé gave me so I’m just gonna hope he’s telling the truth.

We stood there in silence for what felt like a year but was realistically only 20 minutes. I have to pee. I have no idea where the bathroom is. I assume he doesn’t either since Rosie said he’s never been to one of these thing either, and I wouldn’t ask him anyway, since I’ve gone back to pretending he doesn’t exist. Pushing myself off the wall and walking away abruptly in the hopes he won’t react in time and I’ll lose him, I go in search of a bathroom. It didn’t work so I had Chan following me as I walked around looking like a lost child looking for their mum. “There’s a bathroom on the 2nd floor, 3rd doorway to the right.” Not acknowledging him but taking his advice, I went back to the entryway we just walked through and started climbing up the stairs. Coming up to the door there was a line so I just leaned against the wall with my eyes closed and sipped at my drink while we waited. As the line moved Chan nudged my shoulder a little to make me move up. “It’s your turn.” I handed him my drink and walked into the bathroom. Doing what I came to do, I thought about how this night has been going. I hated it at first, and I’m still not really enjoying myself but I find myself hating it less and less as time goes by. “C’mon princess people are waiting.” Why am I red? Am I blushing? Just from that? Shaking my head to clear it, double checking my face to make sure I’m not red and making sure all of Binnie’s work hasn’t come undone I open the door and come face to face with Chan. “There you are princess, you were taking so long I almost kicked the door in.” I’m really finding it hard to hate tonight.

“Are you nervous bein’ on this side of town?”

“I didn’t know I was visiting you in Arkham,” he sassed back.

I chuckled and rolled my eyes at the sarcasm. “That’s not what I meant, wiseass. This is Gotham; every side of town is the bad side. I just meant being in college town.”

“I come here often to speak at the schools.”

“Yeah, but this ain’t a business visit, now is it?” I playfully nudged his thigh with my foot as he sat at the opposite end of my couch thumbing through my notebook. “You’re the only person I know moved to study after having sex.”

“You take very extensive notes.”

“I’m glad they impress you.” He smirked to himself as he turned the page.

I watched him as he pored over the page painted in scribbled handwriting in boxer briefs, his legs extended before him and crossed at the ankles. I told Bruce I had an exam to study for this weekend; he was booked solid on Saturday but Sunday was as free as a bird. My need to study for tomorrow’s test now more than ever didn’t stop him from coming over. He arrived bearing a bottle of red wine which probably cost a semester’s tuition, some lunch Alfred prepared, and dick on a platter. We worked up an appetite with sex and enjoyed wine and lunch on my couch. “You don’t wanna put your clothes on? Seven could walk right through the door at any moment now.” Seven is my roommate that was home visiting her family for the weekend.

“How can I when you’re wearing my shirt?”

“Would you like it back?” I teased.

“I’m not concerned about your roommate walking in and seeing me like this. Are you?” he asked challengingly, turning to look at me.

“Shut up. What are you reading that for anyway? None of it has anything to do with business.”

“You think business is my only interest?”

“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t know medicine interested you.”

“Wayne Enterprises has a pharmaceuticals leg, you know. And chemical. Biotechnology and things.”

“Is there any stone Wayne Enterprises hasn’t turned?”

“When I find one I’ll let you know.”

“Yeah, after you turn it over,” I mumbled to myself with a shake of the head, but surprisingly it got Bruce to release a sound I never heard before in my life: laughter. I looked up and he actually had his head tossed back, an uncharacteristic toothy smile on his face. The most I’d ever gotten from him was a light chuckle and a grin. “Are you okay?”

“No- I mean yes, it’s just… you’re right. You are absolutely right.” I stared as he composed himself, sniffing and sitting himself properly upright again. His smile lingered for a moment longer before I leaned over to him, my textbook falling from my lap, and kissed him.

Bruce and I didn’t kiss. It was some sorta unspoken rule he and I had since the beginning of whatever it was we were doing. Casual hookups were fun and sexy, and somewhat risky considering I lived in a dorm with a roommate. That’s why we stuck with daytime visits; Bruce Wayne spotted here at night on multiple occasions would be sure to cause a mess if the media got wind of these visits. At least I could pose as a friend or some Gotham youth in need if we kept things in the daylight and not hidden in the shadows of night.

But kissing? Kissing made things too intimate, too familiar. Made it seem like there was something more to be desired than just casual sex. In this very moment it was the only appropriate thing to do. It was like a movie scene: ridiculously handsome guy, sun of dusk beaming on him at just the right angle, a charming, radiant, never before seen smile etched into his face. It felt like my lips were bubbling, like a champagne-infused kiss.I felt his smile fade before I noticed what I was doing and pulled away, staring at his mouth before looking him in the eye.

“And what was that?” he asked.

“Hmmm… I guess I shouldna done that, huh?”

“Why not?”

I shrugged. “Isn’t it against our little rules or whatever?”

“I don’t remember making that rule.”

“Some rules don’t need to be spoken.”

“That makes no sense. How is anyone expected to follow a rule they have zero knowledge of?”

I looked at him, mildly surprised. “If you had no knowledge of it then why haven’t you ever kissed me?”

“Is that something you want?”

“I mean, I’m not entirely against the idea, no!”

He smirked; back to normal, I see. “So you thought this entire time I was refusing to kiss you?”

“Okay- When you say it like that, it sounds a little ridiculous-”

“-I think it would sound ridiculous no matter how I slice it.”

I rolled my eyes, my face warming at my sudden awareness that I was making something out of this. Not a big deal, but a deal nonetheless. “Whatever. Sure, let’s just go with this was all in my head.”

He shrugged, picking up my notebook and resuming his reading. “I’m just saying, if you’re gonna kiss me at least do it right,” he mumbled to himself.

“Well what is that supposed to mean?”

He rested my notebook on the floor and turned to me, scooting closer before taking the back of my head in his hand. “For one, you don’t need to rush.”

I rolled my eyes. “I didn’t rush.”

“Well you didn’t exactly take your time, either.”

“Are you saying you didn’t like it?”

“I’m saying I’d like it more if it were… more like this.” He didn’t meet his lips with mine, but instead made me come to him as he brought my head forward. He was calm as he kissed me, but firm and directing.

It was something I’ve never experienced before.

He was forceful but not overbearingly so as he reached up with his other hand. As his hands slid into the hair at the back of my head and gripped, I reclined against the arm of the couch. I’d kiss his neck, his chest, and he’d kissed my breasts and my thighs, things in between; neither of us ever kissed on the lips. This was breathtaking, almost heart-stopping. My head was spinning off my shoulders by the time he pulled his head back, my bottom lip snapping from between his teeth.

He nodded to himself. “Now that was a kiss.”

“Yeeeah, okay,” I agreed as I rose slowly, grabbing his hands and pulling him up with me. “What do you say you, uhhh… Teach me a little bit more so I can take really good notes.”

“Back to the extensive, thorough note taking?”

“Oh yes, I wanna memorize every single detail.” I walked backwards and pulled him along with me to my bedroom.

“Don’t be afraid to ask me to repeat anything, I don’t mind showing you more than once.”

“Very good to know…” I grinned as he kicked the door closed behind him, yanking me close to him and slamming his lips back to mine.

I may have just come across the best and also the worst study buddy in my life.

ok, so im new to the exo-l's. I feel I need a place to start. I've listened to most the music and most music videos... but you seem so knowledgeable I decided to ask. (any suggestions would be welcomed on what to watch/listen/whatever) I'm new to k-pop in general ;-; but im in love with EXO so much. (I hope this ask is ok!) (bias is chanyeol in case anyone was wondering)

hmmm okay well i’ll probably forget quite a bit since exo is 5 years old so that’s a lot of time and a lot of things to watch but i’ll try 😅

• first things first you have to watch “showtime"….aside from music + mvs that’s the number one place to start it’s like an unspoken (but very spoken) rule you have to start off with showtime• you also need to watch “first box” and “second box” - they’re both dvds that were put out that include cute segments with all the members then follows them around various places in each dvd (first box follows them around hong king during wolf era and the other one follows them around for when they were shooting pathcode - which reminds me DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY, DEFINITELY watch all of their “pathcode” teasers they were the teasers for exodus era/call me baby and not to sound dramatic but they genuinely were a total game changer for exo at the time, they’re insanely good and cool teaser videos!)• EXO. NEXT. DOOR. it was a webdrama they did that’s really cute!!! everyone says it’s really corny and tries to downplay it and make it seem like it’s worse than it really is but don’t listen to them they’re boring and have no taste. but anyway it’s 16 episodes and all the episodes are ~12 or so minutes long (and stars chanyeol for the most part ☺️)• then they’ve got various concert dvds you can find floating around online, and you can find lists of which ones those include like TLP in seoul, TLP in japan, exoluxion in seoul, exoluxion in japan (more specifically at the tokyo dome), etc. etc. • i’m sure you know by now that all of the members (for the most part) have been in movies and dramas right?? and chanyeol was in “so i married an anti fan” which i’m sure you know….. mostly all of the members have done acting things which you can also look up because that’s too long of a list for me to write down and also because i know i’ll forget a lot lol• they’ve got various variety shows they’ve been on as well! like weekly idol, running man, starshow 360, infinity challenge, happy camp, etc. also a list of shows you can find online but those are some of the big ones (sorry if i’m forgetting some big ones it’s information overload here lol)• download V App on your phone and watch all of their live streams! they did a whole big series of live streams right around monster called “exomentary” and those are the absolute BEST things to watch! they’re all individual live streams too, so you can see the boys interacting with the camera on their own which is suuuuper nice for getting to know their personalities better ☺️ (plus suho’s live streams were the cutest sorry @ everyone else!!!!!!)• watch their performance of “with you” on immortal song….. trust me• as well as “alright alright / i like you” from their overdose comeback showcase• AS WELL AS their performance of “why so serious” by shinee…. that’s one of my favorites lol• AND SABOR A MI OOOOOOH MY GOD YOU HAVE TO WATCH THEM SINGING SABOR A MI FROM MUSIC BANK IN MEXICO!!!!! A TRUE LIFE CHANGER!!!!!!• so because that’s enough of a starter for you (and you’ll find lots more along the way trust me lol) your other job is really just to finish and listen to all of the rest of their music, watch all of the music videos, watch all of their live stages from music show performances from all their comebacks (which is a pain since there’s so many but very fun!), listen to all of the boys’ OST songs from dramas they’ve sang for, yadda yadda yadda……. you’ll learn more about exo/kpop in general along the way so if all of this seems confusing because you don’t know terminology and stuff you can ask me or just look it up! it’s overwhelming now but gets really easy once you get the hang of things • ok my mind is in overload right now and i feel dumb because i probably forgot some super major things but if anyone wants to comment that would be really helpful + nice!!!!• and because you asked me for this list it’s my job to shamelessly promote MY MAN MY BOY MY LOVE SUHO!!!!! so please read this very long and detailed list of things i compiled about him for another anon before here! ☺️💕

sorry if i forgot anything i was trying to think of everything off the top of my head but regardless you’ve got TONS to go off just based on this list alone so have fun!!!! they’re all such sweet, amazing, talented and loving boys i hope you have even more fun learning about all of them and getting to know each of them even more 😭💕‼️🌸
