When Rose Tyler was five years old, she’d been cast as Sheep #3 in her school’s Nativity play.
It wasn’t a very impressive part—not like Keisha, who’d played Mary—but she remembers the pride that’d blazed through her when her Mum’d declared her brief stint as a farmyard animal as ‘incredibly convincing’.
(Which probably wasn’t all that much of a compliment, considering her role had consisted of little more than crouching into herself and some occasional bleating.)
Still, the experience had remained one of her fondest from childhood; her mum had taken her out for chips after, and there was a photo of the two of them outside the chippy—flushed and pink-cheeked from the cold, Rose still in costume, baring her teeth at the camera in a very un-sheeplike manner—framed and hooked onto the wall at their old lost flat.
Years later, (and a universe away,) in the woes of late-stage-pregnancy-induced nostalgia, she’d told the Doctor about it.
Unluckily for her, the Doctor, who was only a recent member of the human race, had never been part of a school stage performance. He’d thought it hilarious, and Rose had had to endure three extremely long days of her husband trying to sneak in the most absurd sheep puns into every conversation.
Until she’d had enough, and the Doctor had learned not to poke the extremely hormonal bear.
“Rooose,” he’d said with the air of a man who simply couldn’t help himself. “ Let me out of the baaathroom.”
When their five year old skips into the kitchen with a crumpled pamphlet and a massive grin, however, the Doctor sings an entirely different song.
“I knew it all along,” he says loudly, sweeping Mia into his arms. “Of course you’ve been cast—no surprises there. It’s in your blood, you know. Your mum was the finest actor her school ever saw.”
Rose groans, exasperated, turning just in time to see her daughter’s face pucker up into a frown.
“Really?” she asks dubiously. Even at her tender age, she knows her father can sometimes be full of it.
“Oh, yes,” the Doctor says, eyes twinkling, pushing a stray strand of blonde hair behind her ear. “They could hardly tell the difference.”
“Shut up,” Rose tells him, whacking his shoulder lightly with a tea towel, before leaning in to press a kiss to their daughter’s forehead. “You’re going to be brilliant, darling.”
The Doctor tells everyone who will listen, and then he tells everyone who won’t, too.
His daughter’s playing a moon. She’s got two whole lines. She’s brilliant.
“This doesn’t make any sense,” he tells her suddenly, late at night.
Rose squints up at him, rubbing sleep out of her eyes. “Wha’?”
“This!” he says, wrestling with an extremely worn piece of paper. “This!”
Rose squints harder, and the script for Mia’s play comes into vision. The text’s been underlined and circled in several places, overwritten with the Doctor’s rapid, slanting hand, the margins full of swirling patterns and ovals she’s come to recognise as the Doctor’s language, the same ones she’d seen on the TARDIS.
The play’s about a boy from an alien planet, the Doctor explains with some amusement, and he’s looking for his pet cat (the starring role, naturally) but he’s lost, and Rose yawns, wondering why this world couldn’t just stick to something simple like the Nativity.
“Why would the moon even know where Abbadon is? And Abbadon—come on. Name a cat that and it’s like you deserve to lose it…”
“I don’t think you’re supposed to,” Rose tells him drowsily.
“What, lose a cat?”
“Think about it this much.”
But the Doctor’s muttering to himself again, something about inflections and enunciation, pen in hand, so Rose turns to her side, succumbing to the warm embrace of sleep.
It's a warm autumn night, the day of the big show. Rose isn’t sure who’s more excited, Mia or the Doctor.
The school’s bustling late into the evening, only for tonight, and her heart grows warm as she notices Mia, who can barely walk in a straight line at the moment, taking in the familiar building like it’s something she’s never seen before.
It’s a whole new entity at night; wind rustling through the neatly trimmed shrubbery, the ducky swings swaying slightly in the playground, excited chattering from all the children running about behind stage and the all too familiar hissed instructions to stay still by exasperated teachers and parents.
They come to a stop backstage. Mia’s nearly vibrating with energy when she turns to look at Rose, eyes flashing sudden worry. “Are you leaving now?”
“I have to,” Rose tells her, squatting so she can be level with her daughter’s small face. “Have to get a good seat, don’t I? You’ll do brilliantly, Mia, we’re already so proud of you.”
The girl nods once, and then her name’s being called, and Mia’s teacher shuffles her away for her costume fitting.
She’s easily one of the smallest children there, and Rose feels a strange twisting in her gut when her daughter turns to give her one last timid wave.
The Doctor’s saved her a seat in the front row, because of course he has, and his extremely battered Converse tap the ground restlessly as he bickers with her mother. It’s a habit he still hasn’t given up, the shoes—no matter how posh he’s dressed, and it endears him to her, impossibly as it may seem, even more.
And he is dressed posh tonight—in his best tux, in fact; Rose simply hadn’t the heart to tell him that he’d gone a little overboard.
“Well?” he asks her immediately, ignoring whatever it was her mum was saying before he caught sight of her.
“All good,” Rose says, plonking down on the seat next to him. “A little nervous, but that’s natural.”
“Nervous?” the Doctor scoffs a bit too loudly, even as his frame visibly relaxes. “There’s nothing to be nervous about. It’s these other parents who’ve got to be nervous. No one’s even going to notice their children after ours—”
“Doctor, shh!”
It’s only when the lights turn on that Rose realises how large the audience actually is.
The auditorium’s packed to the brim, and she feels a swooping unease in the pit of her stomach as she imagines their tiny daughter reciting her two lines under those harsh stage lights.
Had it been this hard on her mum? She spares Jackie Tyler a glance, who is chatting away happily to Pete, and wonders if it gets easier when there’s a bit of a gap in relation.
The Doctor’s muttering to himself again, and Rose wonders if her experience would’ve been as good if she hadn’t successfully pulled off her bleating—if she’d gone on stage, frozen in front of that massive audience and forgotten her lines. She wonders if she should’ve actually checked on what the father-daughter duo were up to every spare moment they got, because God knows what the Doctor’s taught Mia, and—
“Good evening, everyone! Thank you so much for being here today. Our students are so excited to…”
It’s probably a good thing that the Doctor knows the entire script by heart, and proceeds to perform it live, because Rose can barely hear over the pounding in her ears.
Her grip on his palm (when had she grabbed his hand?) tightens when Mia stumbles slightly on entrance, the massive cardboard moon she’s been taped to getting in the way of her feet in her haste to enter stage, but she regains balance swiftly.
“Don’t worry,” she enunciates loudly, her voice clear as a bell. “I’ll show you the way.”
And Rose’s entire being swells with pride.
It’s magnificent, it is—even if the Doctor begins applauding right after (only to be stopped by a mortified Rose), and she can tell by the way her daughter is beaming that all that bubbling anxiety’s now glee, and it’s positively overflowing.
There’s probably not that much she’ll remember about this age in her life but this moment? Of looking into the audience with a sense of accomplishment, and seeing her parents unbearably proud?
This moment is eternal.
The rest of the play flies past, the two of them barely paying attention, still coming off the high that this is their life, and this is their daughter—
“I love you,” the Doctor says abruptly, lifting her palm to his lips. “Thank you.”
For what? she wants to say, but the words never make it out of her throat.
Mia is, thankfully, moon-less when she barrels into her adoring fans, less than half an hour later.
“How was it? HOW WAS IT?”
“Amazing,” Rose says truthfully, giving the girl a big hug, matching a wild smile with one of her own. “You were amazing!”
“You were wonderful, sweetheart,” her mum gushes.
“An incredibly convincing portrayal,” Pete says dutifully. “Best moon I’ve ever seen.”
Mia turns to the last member of the foursome now, the one whose opinion probably matters the most, on tenterhooks.
“Well,” the Doctor frowns, tugging on his ear. “Honestly, I’m a little disappointed.”
Mia’s face falls instantly. Jackie tuts in disapproval.
“Disappointed,” the Doctor continues, “because I didn’t know we raised a thief. What—you thought you could just steal the show like that and get away with it? The other parents are furious, you know. We’ve been getting requests all evening—haven’t we, Rose? They all want to take you home, all jumping at the chance to have such a brilliant performer in the family. I told them I’d think about it, of course…maybe for the right price—”
“DADDY,” Mia shrieks when the penny finally drops. “YOU LIKED IT!”
“Of course I liked it!” the Doctor roars, sweeping the girl into his arms. “I loved it. Nine hundred years, I’ve never seen a better…”
Rose watches them bid her parents goodbye with a slight stinging in her eyes; the Doctor’s face is alight with happiness, and Mia looks like she’s on another planet altogether.
The Doctor notices, because of course he does, stepping closer to Rose.
“What,” he says to Mia, even as his eyes never leave hers, “d’you say to some chips?”
“YES!”
The Doctor chuckles fondly, before lowering the spirited girl to the ground, from where she takes off immediately after her grandparents, probably in the hopes of haggling for a few more sweeties.
He reaches into his jacket pocket then, retrieving a battered looking instant camera. She knows it must’ve been hard to track one of them down—they hadn’t much been in fashion in Pete’s World.
“I know it’s not the same,” he says almost shyly.
Her heart is expanding so much and so fast she thinks it’s a miracle her ribs aren’t cracking from the force of it.
“No,” Rose tells him, beaming, “it’s better.”

2017 ‘Best Happenings’ Tag

Last year I made a post about some of the best things that happened to me that year and I’m going to make another one this year!

Okay so this year hasn’t exactly been the greatest for me as I moved out of a country that I lived in my whole life and into completely different one. I usually like change but this wasn’t the kind that I was looking for. It’s definitely been hard but this tag is a great way for me to put a positive spin on it :D
Let’s goooooooo!
January - I spent Christmas and the New Year in Hua Hin! This was the last time I was gonna be at this beach which was really weird for me because I had been going there at least twice a year since I was three. I played my ukulele and read Harry Potter by the beach. I had some super fun late night walks on the beach (because I hate walking on the beach during the day) and I rode around the city on a bike with my parents (we each had separate bikes just to clarify). Oh how I miss Hua Hin :’ )
February - February was mostly spent freaking out over my personal project (which I got a 6 on by the way so HAH @ people who said I wouldn’t make it) but in between all of that, I had tons of fun with my friends and classmates and I’m pretty sure this is the month where I accidentally came out like a million times to so many people. I have no idea why. (side note: I was still closeted)
March - I went on resi with my grade and had heaps of fun! I was lucky enough to share a room with my ENTIRE SQUAD and no one else :D Also for some reason, my anxiety levels skyrocketed and I was a nervous mess but I kept on trying to cover it up. Thanks to my amazing friends, every night turned into a group therapy session and we laughed and we cried and we dozed off and eventually fell asleep together :’) it was beautiful.
April - I went to India! Exploring this totally different culture was so interesting and I learned so much! Obviously, there were a lot of things I saw which greatly saddened me, but I also met and learned about so many people that really gave me hope for not only the parts of India that are suffering but for the future of the world. Also I performed at battle of the bands this month! Say whaaaaaat?! Shy Adriana with stage fright was no longer. I NAILED those bass lines, CRUSHED those vocals and KILLED those harmonies. Oh and I had a shit ton, no wait, a FUCK ton of fun :D
May - Imma be honest, this month was a blur. I vaguely remember screaming at my laptop, chugging coffee at midnight, oh and handing in an incomplete lab and still getting a 7 on it... how the fuck did that happen. ( I didn’t have a conclusion or evaluation... and yes I did ask the teacher to make sure I got the correct mark and he said yea sooooooo... I’m not complaining).
June - This month marked the end of my days as an MYP student and my days as a student at my old school. On the last day, I realized how much I had grown as a person in that school. I started off being alone, constantly feeling unwanted and wondering what the hell was wrong with me. Now I have an amazing group of friends who make me feel like I belong somewhere and who help protect me from my own mind. I realized how many important relationships I had made with so many other students from all ages in my school and how we all helped each other out in different ways. As self-centered as this sounds, I realized that I actually mattered to people, which is something little Adriana would never have believed to be true.
July - July was mostly spent in Canada trying to set up some stuff in our new apartment and figuring out how to get around the city. I did have a lot of fun though! Lots of crying myself to sleep because it was finally hitting me that I was leaving Thailand forever and it would be a while before I saw my friends in person again! But there were still lots of fun times! (By fun times I mean eating and sleeping a lot).
August - This was the month where I was officially moving. It hurt like hell to leave behind the city I grew up in along with all my friends, but it also helped me realize how lucky I am. Living there was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. I learned so many things that I wouldn’t learn anywhere else and had experiences that helped shape who I am today. My best memory from this month was having a sleepover with my best friends/saviours for the last time. Never did I ever imagine that I would make such amazing friends, so amazing that it would hurt so much to leave them. I am insanely lucky to have a friendship like that.
September - I had my first day of school which went pretty well! I went to Niagara Falls with my mom, my aunt, and my cousin! We went on the Maid of the Mist and got soaking wet! Then we got tickets to go see a play at Niagara on the Lake where the actors gave me a birthday shoutout mid-scene. :D Oh and I also went to the Terry Fox run that my school held and it was heaps of fun and before that, my new classmates invited me out for a birthday lunch and made my day :)
October - I came out to my mom! It did not go well at all! In fact, it was terrible! But I still did it! And I was incredibly hurt but also incredibly proud of myself because I am a total coward! I refuse to do anything that’s even the slightest bit risky! Yet I still did this! And it feels good to not be in the closet anymore! I also came out to the rest of my friends and that went super well :) And I came out to some of my classmates at school who were incredibly supportive (especially when I told them I was about to come out to my homophobic parents) and they did so many little things that just helped me so much throughout the entire process. They’re such great people :D I also dressed up as Ryuk from Deathnote for Halloween with my friend who dressed up as Misa. Oh and this was also the month where I went to my first BP debate tournament. It wasn’t great, I was super nervous and there was this dude from my grade who I never talk to and he was debating and I had to debate against him and he scares the shit out of me. I’ve never actually talked to him but he seems scary and my friend agrees. So apart from being scared shitless by the debate dude from our grade, getting CRUSHED by opponents and humiliated by judges, we made some awesome friends from other schools and we both suffered together which definitely made us closer.
November - It snowed this month! It was the first time I had seen snow since I was like eight! It was awesome. Okay so it didn’t really snow that much, there were just a couple of flurries but it was super fun. The day after it snowed I got together with my friend group at one of their houses up north and we had so much fun. We watched Tangled while stuffing our faces with ice cream, danced along to BTS (and other Kpop bands’) dance practices and to top it all off we went out for dinner by going through my friend’s backyard, trying not to tumble down a hill full of snow and leaves and branches, walked for a bit through a forest (it wasn’t really a forest, I don’t really know what to call it), tried not to fall while climbing up a hill, probably tresspassed and made our way into a subway to get some sandwiches. I also switched out of physics into history and realized that my TOK, Spanish and History teacher is actually the best person on this planet and has helped me SO MUCH through my rough patches this year.
December - Like Petra said, “December isn’t over yet!” But I did do some pretty cool things. I signed up to do hair and makeup for my school’s play, not really knowing what I was getting myself into (I just wanted CAS points) and I ended up realizing that I’m not half bad at doing makeup and I’m actually pretty good at doing hair. After three nights of doing hair and makeup, on the last night I was invited to the after party! This was the first party I had ever gone to! People got really drunk or really high, I managed to stay the sober and responsible one (along with a bunch of my friends) and I had heaps of fun dancing to Russian rave music while scarfing down a pizza and feeding chips to one of my drunk friends (yes I know that doesn’t really sound like fun but it was funny). And today it snowed! Like a lot! I’ve never ever been in so much snow in my life. It was amazing! So yea.
Despite going through a HUGE change this year, I still had fun :) There were still good things that happened to me. And if I hadn’t moved, I wouldn’t have met all the new amazing people I now have in my life.

SIMON
I wake up to the doorbell ringing. I look at the clock. 5:59 am. Fuck. Who could it be at this unholy hour? Probably my father, coming back home drunk after a night of partying. Damn, why didn’t he stay in the hotel, as usual?
The doorbell rings again. “I’m fucking coming, dad!” I yell.
I put on some clothes and go to the door. I open it, ready to scowl at my father but, instead, there’s a delivery girl looking at me through her pointy glasses.
“Good morning,” she says. “A packet for Simon Snow.”
“Uhm… that’s me,” I tell her, a little bewildered.
She gives me the packet and makes me sign a paper. I tell her thanks and make to go back inside. “Wait,” I shout before she leaves. “Next time, could you come, I don’t know, in the afternoon? When I’m not sleeping?”
“Sorry, the sender wrote specific instructions to deliver this on 21st June at precisely 5:59 am. He even paid an extra and called the company to make sure we followed the instructions. Sounded rather bitter. I wouldn’t risk my job,” she explains. Ha. Like dying her hair blue wouldn’t risk it. Though, I have to say it looks awesome on her dark skin.
“Oh, in that case… Thanks. Have a nice day,” I wish her.
“See you later!”
I close the door and go to the living room, to open the packet. It’s a basket full of fresh-baked cherry scones and some blocks of butter. There’s a card with a note. It reads:

Oh my God. Baz. Right, it’s my birthday. It’s nice of him that he remembered. Baz is my best friend on tumblr. Well, he is my best friend, period. Although I’ve never met him in person, I feel like we’ve known each other for years. And to think that we used to be at each other’s throats!
When I first read the book A Charmed Life, I became hugely obsessed with its characters—i.e. the protagonist, a half-dragon named Craigon Rain—so I created a tumblr blog to obsess about them. At that time, there were very few people in the fandom: gampire-chaz-loves-craigon-rain (Baz), rainchaz61 (Penny), tape-exists-and-im-glad-for-it (Agatha), trixiethelesbianpixie (Trixie), gampirhys (Rhys), so-noted-rainchaz (Niall), and craigonsnowrain (me). And we were like a little family.
But I hated Baz. And he hated me. We would make stupid competitions to see who had the most notes on their posts. I finally gave up because the fucker draws the most brilliant fanart. So I decided to befriend him and make some projects together.
A smile draws in my face as I eat the delicious over-buttered cherry scones. Just the way I like them.
I grab my cellphone to send a thank you message to Baz.
When I’m done with breakfast, I scroll down my dash on tumblr. No happy birthday message. Well, it’s still early. Not for Baz, though, he lives in England, so it must be the afternoon already.
I decide to watch TV for a while—I have nothing planned for today. The fact is that I don’t really have any friends in real life. I don’t know many people here in Nebraska, and the ones I know are complete idiots. So my plan is to stay in all day and read a freaking lot of Rainchaz fanfiction.
After a while, I turn off the TV and go to tumblr on my laptop. Oh, one notification: gampire-chaz-loves-craigon-rain mentioned you in a post.
I open the link and it’s a beautiful doodle of me and Baz, fighting a chimera—as in one of the book’s scenes. I’ve posted some pics of me before, so he has references. The post says:

I’m reading a smutty Rainchaz fic when the doorbell rings again. It’s not that I’m gay, I just love the characters so much. And the smut is great, I love it. The authors in this fandom are just brilliant.
I look at the clock. 7:59 am. It’s still too early for dad to come and I’m not expecting anyone. (Ever.)
I open the door and the same delivery girl brings another packet, this time smaller.
She smiles at me and says, “You know the procedure.” I sign the paper and she leaves with a “See you later!”
“Later,” I reply.
I go back into the apartment and open the packet. It’s a book. The book. A Charmed Life. I go to the first page and, holy shit, it’s signed by the author! It’s so difficult to get a signed copy, I’ve been trying for months, but the author is not very sociable. She wrote:
To Simon Snow,
May you fight your own battles and forge your own wings.

Wow. It’s perfect.
There is also a card with a note that reads:

I grab my old copy of A Charmed Life—don’t want to ruin this one—and start running through its pages. With all these gifts I feel like re-reading it. Again. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read it.
It’s a Young Adult fantasy novel about a very special chosen one. A chosen who doesn’t want to be chosen. Craigon Rain is the last half-human, half-dragon alive. He’s never met his mother—that’s where he got the dragon part. His father wants him to take part in a battle that’s not his own. A battle against the vampires. At first Craigon—the half-dragon—obeys his father’s orders until he meets Gampire Chaz, a teenage vampire who finds himself in the same situation as Craigon, but on opposite ends. The two boys fall in love, defying everything that’s been established by their families and it’s precisely their love the thing that saves them all.
I identify myself quite a lot with Craigon Rain—my name is Simon Snow, see the irony. I never met my mother either and I also think my father is the responsible of everything bad that happens in my life.
Baz identifies himself with the antagonist, Gampire Chaz—only because he’s got brown skin like him, and their middle names rhyme. The moron.
My phones buzzes and I leave the book on the table. Another tumblr notification: gampire-chaz-loves-craigon-rain mentioned you in a post.
I open the link. It’s an aesthetic with six pictures of us—separately, duh—and three pictures with vampires and dragons. It’s beautiful. Under the post, Baz has written:
“Strong. Graceful. Fucking ruthless.” (Page 14)

I can’t believe any of my tumblr friends—we call ourselves raindrops—has wished me a happy birthday yet. Except Baz, sort of. I mean, he hasn’t said it explicitly. Penny lives in India and Agatha in France, I think they should have posted something by now… Now that I think of it I have no clue where Rhys, Niall and Trixie live… Well, Niall is clearly asian but that doesn’t mean that he lives in Asia. I don’t know.
I’m hungry. Thinking too much makes me hungry. Thinking makes me hungry. I go the kitchen to see if there’s anything to eat.
Nothing. Fuck. I’m gonna have to go buy something.
I go to the closest supermarket and buy some popcorn and a peanut butter cup ice cream. Perfect combination for fanfiction reading.
As I climb the steps to my apartment, I bump into the delivery girl from before.
“Hey, watch out,” she scowls and extends me yet another package.
I sign the paper and tell her, “later?”
“Later,” she answers, with a smile.
Once I’m inside, I open the packet—the third one today, and it’s only 9:59 am.
There are some papers inside the packet, a photo of a star, I think?
I read the note that Baz has left:
“Twinkle, twinkle little star!” (page 260)

(These are official documents that prove that this star is named after you and is now yours.)
(Sorry I couldn’t give you the Universe, but this is a star-t.)
(Yes, I knew you wouldn’t understand shit of what the papers say.)
Baz
I’m at a loss of words. What the fuck. It must have cost him a fortune. Well, it must have cost his father a fortune. I guess they can afford it.
I send him a message on tumblr: got the star. what the actual fuck? speechless.
And then I add: why arent u replying to any of my posts? u ok?
Right after reading the first fic, halfway through my ice-cream, the doorbell rings again. 10:59 am. I’m guessing it’s not dad, just yet.
I open the door, and a familiar blond haired girl with the most beautiful brown eyes I’ve ever seen is standing there, looking bored.
“Agatha!” I scream.
“Happy birthday, Simon,” she smiles at me and kisses my cheek. “I’ve come to bring you your next gift.” She shows me what seems like a tattooer box.
I know what Agatha looks like and that she’s a professional tattooer. She’s posted several pics on raindrops faces day. And the rest, too. All except Penny. (She says she can’t be bothered to take a selfie.)
“Agatha!” I shout again. I still can’t believe it. “Come in,” I add.
We sit on the sofa and she gives me the next note. It reads:
“Flames and Blazes—The Art of Burning.” (page 203)
10:59 am - First tattoo

Agatha shows me the design. It’s a constellation. And there’s fire surrounding it.
“Simon,” she says. “This is going to hurt.”
“It’s wonderful, Agatha,” I say when it’s finished, looking at my back through the mirror. “You could’ve been gentler, though.”
“I was gentle, Simon, believe me,” she replies.
The doorbell rings again. I think that it has rung more in one day than in nineteen years.
“Lunch,” Agatha says, and goes for the door. She opens it. “Hi, Penny,” she says to the delivery girl.
What?
“Penny?” I ask, stupidly.
“Sorry, Simon, it was too fun seeing you all clueless,” she apologizes.
“I am still clueless,” I retort.
She takes me into her arms and gives me a tight hug. “Happy birthday Simon! Let’s have lunch. Where’s the dining room?”
“Uhm, here, in the living room. I eat in the living room.”
“Oh, your note,” Penelope says as she gives me the card.
“Because roast beef and Yorkshire pudding are fucking real as Rain.” (page 84)

Baz
We sit on the sofa and start eating our lunch. I’m so happy. It’s like we do this everyday. But I miss Baz. I miss him so much. Where the fuck is he?
We finish eating and Penny looks at her watch. “It’s 12:59,” she says. “Dessert is here,” she smiles wickedly.
“Open the door, Simon,” Agatha says.
I go for the door and open it.
Baz.
Baz is here. With a cake in his hands.
Baz is here. And I can’t hug him.
“Baz!” I say, grinning widely.
“Hey, Snow, happy birthday,” he says, and hands the cake to me. There’s a card on it, too.
“But he just stood there for as long as he could stand it. I don’t know how he resisted the pull; I felt like my intestines were going to burst out and wrap around him.” (page 167)
12:59 - First meeting
(I’m here.)
Baz
Baz looks like he’s trying to hide the huge smile that’s drawing in his face. But I can see it.
“Fuck, Snow,” he says, finally giving into the smile. “I wanted this to happen at 1:59 pm, but here you go.”
“What?” I ask
He takes out another card from the back pocket of his jeans and reads it.
“Trying not to crack a smile. Page 517.”
Then, he looks at his watch and adds, “ 1:01 pm, first smile. First real life smile from me to you.”
“The presents are getting better,” I say, trying not to smile from ear to ear.
We eat the cake on the sofa. Baz tried to oppose to it, but I don’t really have a table with nice chairs to sit down and chat while drinking tea. I’ve never had anyone come over.
We talk about our lives. Well, they talk about their lives and I listen. And look at Baz. His eyes are prettier than I had imagined. And oh my God, his skin. It reminds me of toffee. It has such an appetizing color it makes me want to taste it.
After a while, Baz leads us downstairs and into a cab that’s parked in front of my building.
The taxi drives for around twenty minutes before it comes to a stop. “We’ve arrived,” the driver anounces.
Baz tips him and gestures us to follow him. We enter a place called The Wavering Wood Cafe.
“Happy birthday!” Rhys, Niall, Trixie and other fellow raindrops I identify from tumblr say at the same time as I go through the door.
“Jesus,” I say. I’m stupefied. A surprise party. For me.
Baz hands me another card and our fingertips brush. He cracks an undecipherable smile and looks away.
I read the note.
“It feels like a party.” (page 40)
2:59 pm - First birthday party

Baz
I’m having a great time. It’s so fun talking to all my tumblr friends in real life. I finally got to meet Keris, Trixie’s girlfriend. She always posts pics of them together. (Penny finds it gross.) (But that’s personal. She doesn’t like Trixie.)
I keep giving glances towards Baz’s direction. I don’t know why I can’t stop staring at him.
Suddenly, my phone buzzes. It’s a tumblr post from Baz.
I open the link. It’s a fic. It’s called Snowbaz. Not Rainchaz. I read the summary:
“Because I’m disturbed.” (page 205)
“Ask anyone,”I think out loud, smiling. And then continue reading the summary:
3:59 pm - First fanfiction about us
Baz
I start reading the fic. It’s all fluff and love until the last part. Smut. I read it all. And love every word. Fuck.
I look at Baz. He’s already staring at me. I step towards him.
“Hey, Snow,” he says. “Ever tried a flaming shot?”
“I’m underaged, you know.”
“Not in my country,” he smirks.
“Okay, fine, give me a shot.”
“A flaming shot, Snow,” Baz says. “Here.”
He hands me a small glass of liquor and sets it on fire with a lighter. He does the same with his glass.
“To us,” he says.
“To us,” I reply.
He blows out the fire and drinks all the liquor. I mimic him. Ugh. I grimace.
“Sharing a room with the person you want most is like sharing a room with an open fire,” Baz starts saying, looking directly into my eyes. “He’s constantly drawing you in. And you’re constantly stepping too close. And you know it’s not good—that there is no good—that there’s absolutely nothing that can ever come of it. But you do it anyway. And then…”
“Then you burn,” I finish. God, his eyes are fire.
“Page 177. 4:59 pm, first flaming drink.”
“First drink,” I correct.
He laughs and orders a couple more.
We have a couple more shots and talk about our favorite AUs. We talk more than we drink.
Suddenly Baz looks at his watch, and then back at me. With the same blazing eyes from before. He stays silent, just looking at me, for a moment. He looks hesitant.
I think he’s going to kiss me.
But he doesn’t. He keeps staring. Some minutes pass. I stare at my watch. 6:10 pm. Where’s my 5:59 pm gift?
“Simon…” Baz starts, flaming shot in his hand.
And then I kiss him.
We kiss for a long time. Then I let go and make him reach for me. And we kiss again.
After a while, we break the kiss and smile at each other. I’m grinning. I can’t help it.
“I was going to say You were the sun, and I was crashing into you,” Baz says. “But I guess the best quote for this is And then HE kisses ME.” He can’t hide his grin, either.
“Page 342,” I say. “6:10 pm, first kiss.”
“Shite, what time is it?” He asks, already looking at his watch.
“6:50 pm,” I answer, moronically.
“Let’s go have dinner, Simon. You and me, only.”
“Okay,” I say. And I follow him to the next room.
There’s a small table for two with two candles. It’s always fire with Baz.
We sit down and he takes out another card.
“You smell like something I’d gladly eat, page 421,” he says, staring at my eyes. “6:59 pm, first romantic dinner.”
I blush.
After dinner, we all go to a pub. It’s called The World of Mages.
It’s great and I’m so happy to be surrounded by friends and the person I like. Baz. That’s new. Liking boys. No, not boys. Only Baz. Wanting to kiss him over and over again.
He takes my hand and says, “Want to dance?”
I nod and smile at him. I’m crap at dancing but I don’t care.
Baz puts his hands on my waist and leads me through the song. Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.
“I should have known that this is what it would be like to dance with Craigon Rain. Fighting in place. Mutual surrender,” Baz whispers into my ear. “Page 508. 7:59 pm, first dance.”
I place both my arms around his neck and slump into him.
We’re still at the pub. Dancing. Well, at least I’m trying.
“What are we going to do?” I ask him. “You’re going to leave back to England.”
“I know,” he answers with a crack in his voice. “We’ll figure it out, little puff.”
“Baz,” I say. “What’s the next gift? I think I have a better idea.”
“Huh? I was going to take you for a drive…”
“I want to be your boyfriend. Your terrible boyfriend,” I say. “Page 390.”
Baz looks surprised. He places both his hands on my face and kisses me, tenderly. “Of course,” he says. And kisses me again.
“8:59 pm,” I say. “First boyfriend.”
And I kiss him again.
After the pub, we say goodbye to our fellow raindrops. There’s a lot of hugging and kisses on the cheek. God, I’m gonna miss them.
“We have to do this more often,” I say. Even though I’m broke. But I’ll find the money somehow.
They all agree.
Once they’re gone, it’s just me and Baz.
“Let’s go back to my apartment,” I tell him.
“What if your father is there?”
“At this time? Not likely. He must be out, drinking again.”
“Okay,” he says.
We go to my apartment and settle in my room. It’s full of constellations on the walls. Because I love astrology. Hence the tattoo.
“Baz, you haven’t seen it,” I say.
“Seen what?”
“The tattoo, idiot!”
I take my shirt off and show it to him. He places his fingertips on my back and starts tracing it. The touch sends shivers down my spine.
“So beautiful…” Baz says.
I turn around and look at him. I reach for his shirt and take it off. Eyes locked on his. I close the distance and kiss him. And then my hands go down. I can’t stop myself. I kiss every spot of his dark olive skin. And I want more. And I can see that he wants, too.
So I take more. I take it all. And I give it all. To him. To Baz.
“Because we match,” I say after a while. My head is resting on Baz’s chest. Our fingers laced. “Page 420.” I look at my watch. “10:58 pm, first time.”
“When did you start giving yourself birthday presents?” Baz asks.
“I think it was when I did this,” I answer. And I kiss him.
“God, I love you, Simon Snow.”
“I love you, Baz.”
“Fell in love, didn’t you?” He smiles.
“10:59 pm, first I love you,” I say.
I go with Baz to the airport. I’m sad that he has to go. But I’m happy that he came. And he’s going to move to the States with his aunt, Fiona, next year. So I just have to wait for a year. And I’m going to visit him soon. Maybe for his birthday.
He looks at me with watery eyes. He holds my hand so hard it hurts a little.
“I’ll come to England, in a couple of months,” I reassure him. “And then you’ll come back. We’ll be seeing each other a lot. You won’t get rid of me that easily.”
“When I come to live in America with Fiona, I’m going to haunt your door day and night.”
There’s a shout for all the passengers of the flight to Southampton Airport.
Baz kisses me, before letting go.
“Goodbye, Simon,” he says. “This is a first and a last goodbye. Because the next time I see you, I won’t let you go for anything in the world.”
“Go on, then,” I say. “Carry on, Baz.”

My car is a 1994 Lexus ES300 with 125,000+ miles on it. I would say it is in good or fair condition, the leather seats are cracking badly and it has a few scrathes, etc. I'm just wandering if it is in my best interest to repair this car or for it to be totaled out. The estimate for repairs in $3500.00, which could always go up once repairs start for unseen damage. I'm just not sure the car is worth repairing for that amount considering its condition. Okay this is annoying me. My car insurance policy is up for renewal very soon. It is a 6-mo policy. I am currently 24 yrs old but turning 25 literally 7 days after my policy renews. As you might know, generally car insurance rates decrease when you turn 25, because 25 is the age threshold that is no longer considered to be a high risk age group. However, my car insurance company insists on rating my entire 6-mo policy as a 24-yr-old...which means that for literally 96.2% of my policy period, I will be 25 yrs old but paying the higher rates of a 24-yr-old. How does motorcycle insurance work?
So I just wanted to know a little about the pay brackets with motorcycle. Im not talking specific numbers cause I know to just get a quota for that. What I heard is for things like scooters or bikes under 150cc there is a bracket. Then it goes up for anything between 150cc to less than 400cc. Then after that you can expect insurance to go up more when you get into the 600cc supersports and so on. I know im wording this kind of poorly. It makes sense just like how insurance for a Ferrari is going to more than a pickup truck or economy car. I just remember someone saying on a forum that they got a ninja 400r and they were happy that its technically a 399cc engine bucause if it was just a bit more the insurance would have gone up to the next class in motorcycle insurance. I just wanted to know if someone can help explain how this works. I wouldnt mind having something stronger than a 250 or 300 motorcycle but if it means that insurance is going to double or something for a 600 or 650 then I may stray away from it because I still have insurance for my car. Also on a side note how exactly does super sport insurance typically compare to standard bikes? For example maybe a gsxr 600 or CBR 600 vs something like a SV650. Both have similarly sized engines but Im sure 600 super sports are more aggressively tuned and other factors. Lastly my one friend had a Kawasaki. I cant remember what kind but it may have been like a 2002 ninja 600? Anyways his monthly insurance was like less then $20 a month! Does anyone know what kind of coverage he may have had. I have a 4.0 and financial aid, however my state requires student have health insurance... and the only insurance my school offers is over $80 a week on top of the $85 a week lab fees, dr visits, and meds because I have a severe blood disorder and need to go get my blood check every week.
