Ancient Etruscan vase: This monster is unknown, possibly from Etruscan mythology, which is little known. Given the long flexible tail, I would guess a lion—they likely still lived in Italy at this time, perhaps 500 BC. The Etruscans left us many examples of beautiful vases like this.

When were the first folk tales/myths about Draculas vampiric nature spread throughout the region, where did they originate, and is there any reference to how he came to be one. I am writing a novel, and though it is not about Dracula, the information would be profoundly useful. Joe

there is NO such thing. Nothing, nada in Romania. Dracula Stories are of foreign origin, mainly German (late 15th century) and have absolutely nothing to do with vampires. CD has some pretty good videos about those stories and their origins:

Cetatea Neamț a fost construită în timpul domniei lui Petru I (1375-1391), ea fiind menționată pentru prima dată la 2 februarie 1395, în timpul expediției regelui Sigismund de Luxemburg al Ungariei în Moldova.

Cetatea Neamț (cunoscută impropriu sub titulatura Cetatea Neamțului) este o cetate medievală din Moldova, aflată la marginea de nord-vest a orașului Târgu Neamț (în nord-estul României). Ea se află localizată pe stânca Timuș de pe Culmea Pleșului (numită și Dealul Cetății), la o altitudine de 480 m și la o în��lțime de 80 m față de nivelul apei Neamțului. De aici, străjuia valea Moldovei și a Siretului, ca și drumul care trecea peste munte în Transilvania.

He settles on the daughter of his southern brother(he-he) and they have two daughters together. The older screws up a peace treaty and causes an invasion by running away with her boyfirend and the younger one fixes her sister’s shit using tactics that would make everyone from Decebal to Fănică the Great proud.

the white,    clean walls of the medical room that runs beneath the city feels eerily familiar,    yet like a stranger at the same time.     she runs the tender flesh of her fingertips along the ridges of the wall,    seeing if connecting to it will remind her that eden was once her home too,     but instead of the flooding of relief,    she drowns underneath the weight of guilt.     isolation is a requirement to newcomers of eden.     the intention is to make sure that they are not infected,    and they won’t bring in the disease that licks at the walls of eden,    taunting them of the reality they dare to hide behind rusting metal.

the hiss of a door echoes in the medical area,    and hal turns her head to the glass wall that separates her from the rest of the world.     she believes it will be her nurse that has been checking on her,    a new woman that hal doesn’t recognize from before she left eden months ago.     she doesn’t seem to hold the same worry and hurt that she sees in the eyes of everyone she remembers when she re-entered eden.     instead of her nurse,  however,    she comes face to face with jace from across the glass,    and her heart drops.     “jace..”     hal whispers,    a sigh drifting from her tiers as she watches him.     in this moment,   her heart sings and reminds her that she missed him most of all.     “hey,    stranger.”

“  i don’t even know where to start,  ”    selene tells him,  before she exhales as she looks around the area.   the planet was nothing like she’s seen before and it seemed as if earth was long, long gone.  it was the first place she truly felt peace and it was the only time she was able to see the sunrise and feel any sort of happiness.  it was the place where she was able to reunite with apollo and feel like she was slowly coming into herself and what it was that she wanted.  how could that be conveyed to a total stranger?   even if he was only trying to help.

     jeanny let’s out a sigh as she focuses her gaze away from diego, “look, i don’t know the first thing about being a hero. or saving the world. there isn’t much use to my powers.”
