Like Betty Cooper literally represents the social decay of suburban communities and the question of what responsibility we bear to atone for our parents sins and Archie Andrews is the exploitation of the working class and the predatory nature of military recruitment and Jughead Jones is the cycle of poverty and corruption of the criminal justice system and Veronica Lodge is the myth of ethically accumulated wealth and the dichotomy between familial and moral responsibility and Cheryl Blossom is religious hypocrisy and the morally dubious roots of old money and Kevin Keller is the marginalization of queer people in small traditional towns and how that interacts with white privilege and I could talk about this show and the rest of the characters for hours

Initial thoughts on the Fallout TV show:

- I really enjoyed the show overall. The pacing, story and tone is great and it was so fun seeing all the various background details and references to the games. They really outside themselves with the sets, costumes, props and overall art design. And the music!!! So fun recognising the songs from the games. And the twist was great!

- Lucy is a sweet cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure. I adore her. I also love that she's stuck to her morals even after everything she's been through.

- I really like Cooper (I'm a sucker for an anti-hero) and enjoy the big contrast between his pre-war and current personality. Also I love that he proves that ghouls can be hot.

- I had very mixed feelings about Max at the start of the show but I really like how he's grown and developed thanks to Lucy's influence. I also feel instinctively protective over him cos I just know the fandom is gonna be racist and shitty about him.

- On a related note, the shipping discourse with this show is gonna be a disaster. Can't wait to see takes such as "Cooper/Lucy is problematic because of the 200 year age gap" and "Max doesn't deserve Lucy because he lied to her, instead she should be with Cooper (despite him being a cannibal and serial murderer who literally tortured her and almost killed her multiple times), this makes perfect sense."

- To be clear, I actually like both Lucy/Cooper and Lucy/Max as ships! (though not as much as I like Lucy/Literally Any Woman), they're just prime material for stupid shipping wars and I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

- This show is really good but is in desperate need of more girls and gays (I need Lucy to have female companion/romance options lol) Barb, Moldaver, Steph and Betty were great but they were 1. All kinda-antagonists (who were only ever seen from other character's POV's) 2. Did not interact with each other. The gender imbalance is especially stark when you consider there are almost twice as many men in the main cast list as there are women.

Previously on For the Crown:

Jason Blossom was murdered under suspicious circumstances at the Cooper duchy in the River Kingdom. Unhappy with how Constable Keller was conducting the investigation, Betty Cooper took it upon herself to find the culprit on her own.

Meanwhile, feeling pressure from their own Kingdom, King Frederick and his son Archibald called on their Allied kingdom counterpart, the Serpent Kingdom, to assist them in security and the finding of their killer-at-large.

The Serpent force was led by their own Prince, Jughead Jones, who had been away from the Allied Kingdom for several years in his studies and assignments.

Jughead soon becomes reacquainted with Betty, and after numerous interactions riddled with misunderstanding, begin investigating the mystery together.

Soon, they find that Jason’s kingdom, the Forest Kingdom, has been growing poppies illegally that are then shipped to the Western Free States to make opium.

Jason absconded with the ledger proving such transactions and left it for his betrothed, Polly Cooper, in case their plan of escape failed, which it did, resulting in his death.

Thanks to the poor work of the constable, Hal Cooper was deemed the killer of Jason Blossom, though Betty and Jughead know this to be false.

Before Hal escaped the kingdom in disgrace, he named Betty his heir to step in for Polly Cooper, who chose to join the nunnery after the death of her twins and her betrothed.

Through it all, Jughead and Betty find comfort and love with each other.

Unfortunately after a brutal fight, Jughead and Betty become estranged, just as a bounty was put on Betty’s life, for yet unknown reasons.

Jughead, and a small serpent crew escape into the Serpent Kingdom where after a terrible attack that put Betty’s life in jeopardy, they meet Charles Clayton, Betty’s former betrothed.

After recovery and healing talks with former loves, Betty and Jughead reconcile.

When they arrive at the Keep they are greeted by Jughead’s sister JB who reveals she has been carrying on a love affair with none other than Trevor Brown.

With only one more day before their parents and their troubles converge, the pair want to spend as much time together (alone) as possible…

Every single main character having straight up tortured someone (Betty and Veronica boiling a man alive, jughead cutting of that tattoo, Archie re-breaking Nick the rapist’s broken legs)

Christ. Okay. There's gonna be some rarepairs and some crackships on here and I'm not going to apologize.

Cheryl Blossom/Veronica Lodge (Riverdale) - Sorry not sorry putting this number one. I've been on this train for over half a decade. I feel like I have a red string board about how the narrative implicitly connects them but the writers are cowards. Justice for Camila Mendes, who spent seven seasons trying to kiss women and the writers kept putting her back in straight relationships.

Dinah Lance/Zatanna Zatara (DC Comics) - This is explicitly the comics canon, because I don't think they've really interacted in any other forms. Admittedly this one has less to do with the ship and more the fact that Zatanna is my pathetic bisexual wet cat and no one at DC seems interested in examining her trauma through anything besides her relationships with men.

Sam Carpenter/Kirby Reed (Scream) - God. The wasted potential here. The Scream franchise has never written a protagonist that wouldn't be better as a lesbian. The shared trauma. The height difference. Can they both get some goddamn rest.

Robin Buckley/Nancy Wheeler (Stranger Things) - This one has dropped to four because of my umbrage with the fandom in general, which I know I don't need to explain to you. But besides Natalia and Maya having so much chemistry, Robin being the only one who consistently listens to Nancy and vice versa is so important to me.

Yelena Belova/Kate Bishop (Marvel Cinematic Universe) - Once again, specifically in the MCU. Again, Hailee and Florence have such amazing chemistry, and their relationship is the natural successor to Clint and Nat. I can't wait to see how the MCU wastes their potential!

Hazel/PJ (Bottoms) - RIP to everyone who loves Josie and Isabel, but you can't give me a local dirtbag and a cringefail butch and not expect me to smoosh their faces together like Barbie dolls.

Kate Bishop/America Chavez (Marvel Comics) - The MCU already decided they didn't want this one by aging America down and Kate up, but this was the ship that originally got me onto Tumblr. They're still kicking ass and taking names forever in my heart.

Betty Cooper/Donna Sweett (Riverdale) - I just think she (bitchy prep school brunette with big eyes) is pretty neat, ok?

Sansa Stark/Margaery Tyrell (A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones) - They hate to see one girlboss winning, much less two. In a different world, they are Cheronica in a different font. Stop booing me, I'm right.

Laura Kinney/Marc Spector (Marvel Comics) - Are they an M/F ship? Sure are! Have they ever interacted in canon? I don't think so! But this one I can explain - when I did Marvel PBP, my Moon Knight ended up romancing X-23 and now I desperately need them to interact. Their dates mostly involved patching each other up and talking about their trauma.
