open to all ; when she turned 28, the family curse activated and jasika became a mermaid. she's a very wealthy influencer and more than slightly annoying ; possible connections could be a friend, frenemy, partner, body guard, etc.

What in the everlasting fuck was happening to her? Quite seriously, what was happening to her?! One second, she was settling down into an extremely relaxing bubble bath in preparation for her magical birthday celebrations that night and the next a huge tail replaced her legs and splashed water out of the already large tub. The large multi-chrome tail had scales, a fin, and a hue like an oil slick. It was heavy and it wouldn't fucking disappear. Finally, she had to call for reinforcements. "What took you so bloody long?!" She demanded after hearing them outside the bathroom door. "Now before you come in, do not, under any circumstances, freak out. Because them I'll freak out and then I'll be very angry with you!"

I’ve been thinking about how much repressed anger Ariel probably has lately. For as much love as she has for her family, she also resents them. She can’t be herself around them, has to actively hide herself, and she feels like she always has to try to be the bigger person where they’re just blatant in either their stagnancy or their bigotry. She feels that she’s constantly on the opposite end of contradictions, cruelty, and things that don’t have logic, and no one ever comes to her defense over them, but she’s condemned and the finger is continually pointed at her. A part of her hates living in Atlantica, because it’s muddied the ability to peacefully exist in her family unit. She’s convinced that every time her sisters are lingering in their bedroom doorways, they’re listening for something they can take to Sebastian; that every time she senses a shadow a few paces behind her, it’s someone her father has entrusted to spy on her and that their livelihood is contingent upon compromising her wellbeing to give her Father a morsel on how she’s disobeying him that day; every time her Father pretends to want to hear what she has to say, the rare instances on which that occurs, she’s convinced he’s not actually interested, but is just waiting and listening for an opportunity to trip her up, twist her words against her. It sometimes gives her a deep-seeded mistrust and disdain for those around her, but it’s in direct conflict with her heart and the love she had for life and the spirits around her. The more she lives in Atlantica, the more she feels those feelings bubble up inside her, and they make her feel guilty and she doesn’t want to hate life or those around her or be mistrusting, so she kind of just continues to numb and kill parts of herself so she isn’t consistently bogged down or with a permanent bad taste in her mouth for some of these factors.
