First Live Reading of Filthy Sugar!

I am so excited to be one of the readers at Bright Lit, Big City on Thursday, July 21st. The return of Toronto's newest reading series will be held at the wonderful Hirut Cafe at 2050 Danforth Avenue (pro tip: try the vegetarian platter - it's delicious!). Doors open at 7pm and show starts at 8pm. This is a PWYC event. Hope to see you there!

Writing a novel is a journey and as exciting and fulfilling as it is, it can also be a little overwhelming and scary at times. Here I share some tips I learned while working on my debut novel Filthy Sugar (coming out next month with Inanna Publications!). Thank you Neil Traynor for filming this video.

On Saturday, February 16, 2019 my beau, the very talented singer-song writer Neil Traynor, and I put on our annual show “I Got You Babe: An Evening of Music and Poetry” at the wonderful Hirut Cafe (2050 Danforth Avenue).  It was a fabulous evening! We lucked out weather wise (for once no snowstorm or -30 windchill) and had a really great crowd. I read from my novel Filthy Sugar, forthcoming in May 2020 with Inanna Publications; the chapter I read takes a comical look at Prohibition and I was pleased that the audience was laughing along and clearly enjoying it - there was even spontaneous applause! ;-)

As an artist, I am so thankful that we have Hirut Cafe in Toronto - they are truly a blessing! Whether it’s music, comedy or spoken word, there is always something fun & fabulous going on at Hirut! Plus their food is incredibly delicious and affordable. Arts and culture are alive and well at Hirut Cafe!
