I put this under a “read more” because it was getting too long, LOL! But seriously tho, you raise a good point X’-D I’ve been meaning to draw the hobbits looking a little shaggier. It’s just too tempting to draw them the exact same way every time, and I’m lazy ;-P

Heck, there were a LOT of costume changes I probably could have done. Their clothes should have been more dingy and ratty; both of them should have lost more weight; and Frodo’s glasses were supposed to break at the hinge LONG before the gang ever got to Shelob’s lair. All of that slipped my mind, and by the time I realized what was happening we were already in Ithilien.

(Who knows?? Maybe the Rangers had a razor that the hobbits could borrow. I figure that’s the last time they’d ever be able to get a haircut.)

Frodo for sure will have a costume change after Cirith Ungol, so maybe that will be my chance to draw him and Sam with longer hair. But I have half of RotK to get through before I come to that ;-)

At any rate, it’s no good trying to pick your way towards Mordor with your hair in your face, so there’s how they probably would have dealt with it (while they still had options for dealing with it).
