ok ... I do Not understand the fandom all deciding that Squilf should be with Shrewpaw instead??? Like..Shrewpaw was a background character that hardly interacted with her and then died PLEASE just let my girl be single

there's at least built up friendship between the two (even if it's a few scenes gotta latch onto those crumbs) and squilf did at least think of him as her best friend

i think childhood friends to lovers is popular and with the way squilf is often the book's punching bag, people thought it would be nice to reimagine a character who was actually her friend to someone who helped support her. i think most squilf ships are just "oh god. i wish you were with someone was nice to you for once" lol

i'm a single squilf truther too but you know, fandoms like shipping and as someone with a whole au dedicated to pairing up randos i would be a hypocrite to complain about that
