Hey fam,I was a lurker for years on this sub, and read countless posts and went through the full rollercoaster almost every week: get excited about a niche/business model/opportunity -> start doing research -> keep doing research till the excitement dissipated -> go back to reddit to take a break from the research -> go into a reddit hole or find another idea to start the cycle again. In a way this is just like an addiction cycle that has manifested in other areas of my life that I'm working on as well, and this "launch" while laughably small and insignificant compared to what some of you are doing feels like a massive milestone - I've never been able to get this far in years of lusting after the idea of quitting my job for a business that I've started.I now humbly come to you lot for feedback (constructive or otherwise)! The site is www.greencardinterviewquestions.com. Ive tried to create a resource for people in the USA who have married someone from another country (or vice versa) and are now in the process of applying for a Green Card (permanent resident status). Specifically, if they end up on my website, they have been asked to come in for an interview by the US citizenship and immigration service and are shitting bricks because they dont know what to expect. Having gone through this process myself, I wanted to make it easier for someone in this situation to get the info they need to prepare and feel less anxious about the interview. As you can tell, this is a very very very specific niche. The info I'm providing for free in the articles and selling in the eBook is designed to make it easy for a couple to understand what to expect at the interview, what to bring, and how to prepare. For those who arent familiar with the process, the couple applying is asked a bunch of questions to validate if their relationship is kosher (or halal, whichever way you swing). Sometimes the couple is separated and their answers compared, to see if they are actually in a real relationship (something like "what's the color of yours and your spouse's toothbrush?"). These questions are pretty simple but there are some nuances to how the couple should deal with the situation in certain cases like if they forget something. Obviously this is pretty stressful, and even people with bona fide marriages stumble because its a kind of question no one has every asked them (which of your spouse's family attended the engagement?).Basically Im trying to help these couples in real relationships, chill out, prepare and go over what they kind of questions they might be asked and show up relaxed and comfy on the day of the actual interview. Note that there is no way to know what exact questions they can be asked, Ive just collected questions that other applicants in the past have been asked in their interviews, which i believe to be representative.I wanted to deliberately keep the niche very specific, even if there wasnt crazy depth and no potential to make millions. I'm considering this a small scale test bed business and a way to cut my teeth with all the different aspects of starting and running a bigger one.How I got here:*Bought a domain on Google domains (hate shady GoDaddy)*Started a SquareSpace trial (had to pay to launch the site)*Picked a theme*Started creating content*Uploaded said content*Did design tweaks*Used Google Search Console to ask Google to crawl my siteImportant to note that I'm not technical. I have a background in product management and know a little about a lot of things but I'm not an expert in design or dev. If you are like me and have been harboring aspirations of starting something - you can actually get pretty far with limited tech skills! Dont lose hope! What I'd love from you: My next step is to start promoting it with some FB ads just to play around with paid traffic. So far I've had 3 dozen visitors organically (including test traffic and family) and no conversions unsurprisingly.I feel like the site is a little bare and doesnt offer much confidence (though I'm not certain, maybe the only way to tell is through feedback or with more traffic?)I'd love for you to spare a min to check out the site and share any feedback: design, content, layout, anything at all!Things I'm on the fence about:*The grayscale above the fold part of the homepage (esp the image), is it too grim? I was trying to create an emotional connection.*The cover of the ebook, i created it on MS Word, should I get a designer to create a professional cover?*The amount of articles - not that much more you can say about the subject. Is it too light?*Trust - I prefer to not use my identity online, but I do realize that people buy from other people. I can see the power of putting my face, name and story there (in the About page or home page) but the idea freaks me out. Any thoughts?*Will this convert? No way to know without lots of traffic - but how much? At what point do I say that there is no market for this product?*Best way to target? Best place to target? Im thinking FB as you can get pretty specific, but not exactly sure how to determine if the person has recently gotten married and is in the green card process. Maybe I can do it based on immigration forums on FB they might have joined. Thanks so much for reading and for creating a community that gives so many people hope that they can one day put something together that puts food on the table without have to work for a company.
