Listening to Kate's stories while working together in the office is becoming a part of my daily routine.

Kate: Yes, that's right. It's about Marianne, the maid we discussed the other day.

Victor: Oh, in that case, give her some time off. It's important for her to meet her lover who is far away.

Victor: Kate, there's a possibility that this mission might not be pleasant for you either. So--

Before I could finish my sentence, Kate responded with a determined look in her eyes.

Believing that above all, we should respect her will, that night, we infiltrated the organization's stronghold.

William: Belongings of the missing, bloodstains, and then a body was discovered. There's no way to deny it.

Victor: I'll go to the basement with Kate. Let's head there immediately to prevent further victims.

Kate: Yes...

William: Victor, how much mercy tonight?

Victor: None needed. Their actions deserve condemnation. Loyalty to your wickedness, William.

Kate, I didn't want to show her too much of the horrific scene, praying that this wasn't the 'right' place…

(Ah, I see. It seems like the basement is the 'right' place.)

In the basement, there was an altar-like structure with flickering candlelight. People wearing masquerade-like masks surrounded the altar, and at its center lay a young girl who seemed barely of age.

(So, that's the 'replacement' for the queen. ...Truly grotesque.)

I noticed a man attempting to lower a candle onto the girl's arm, and without hesitation, I took a step forward.

However, Kate moved before me.

Kate: ............no, stop!

The red-haired man with a mask: W-who is this girl! Let go, let go...

Kate: Please stay away from her!... Kyaa!

It happened in an instant, and Kate, who was pushed away, collided with the altar and collapsed on the spot.

Victor: Kate...? Kate...?

(It's okay, she's breathing. She just passed out...)

---In the moment of her collapse, something seemed to have rolled and fallen near Kate.

While looking at the eerie individuals with masks, focus is on one of them.

Victor: As I command you. Pledge your allegiance to evil.

//Let it be commanded in the name of death. Now, it's time for death to come for you.

The man's eyes gaze into the void, and his expression becomes euphoric.

Red-haired masked man: Ah... It feels so wonderful. I... I...

The man reaches for his own neck and tightens it, ending his life.

Black-haired masked man: He's... dead...? Why did he... commit suicide...?

Looking at the bewildered men, I focus on one.

Victor: ...Starting from the right, say your names.

Black-haired masked man: Tommy Jaeger... Ugh...

Another death command.

Freckled masked man: Leah Rodriguez. Ah, I... Ah!

Another death command.

Finally, what remained was silence and the serene faces of those who died, as if having beautiful dreams.

William: Is it settled? It seems I won't have a chance to step in.

Victor: Yes, Will. The 'target' was here.

Jude's 'Love Kiss' from CE

The shitbrained summary version, definitely inaccurate somewhere but you'll get the gist:

Opens on Kate all, OOOH PRETTY FLOWERS Lovely summer breeze, this is heavenly, I could stay here forever 😍

Then the lovely scene is interrupted by a voice bitching that she can't laze about there and never pay them back, and Kate's thinking, nani the fuck, is that Jude's voice? Crap he's right I can't be in debt to him!

She jerks awake and promptly chokes up a shitload of water, looking around all blearily. BEAUTIFUL PLACE GONE :( Ellis is there, banging her on the back asking if she's okay and such, and she says ya she's alright. Ellis tells her, dang girl you nearly drowned!

She's thinking, holy crap was that garden THE AFTERLIFE? If not for Jude's voice, she might still be there, DED. The idea is kinda freaking her out tbh, so she hugs herself.

Jude sighs that it's bit cold for a swim ffs, and Kate's tells him she wasn't swimming, there was this child drowning so she wanted to save them??? She's panicked a moment over whether the kiddo is okay, and Ellis assures her they are - they went off to a doctor to get checked out but seemed fine, just cold. She's relieved and asks, did Ellis save her then? He sets the record straight though, telling her nope, not me, I didn't get here in time - Jude hauled you back to shore and gave you mouth to mouth.

Cue Kate all…..Jude????

She finally notices that he's soaking wet too, and Jude offers her a smarmy line about how it sucks for her she didn't get kissed awake by a ✨prince✨ - she got the wizard. Kate says, no actually thanks a bunch but record scratch wait. Mouth to mouth?????

Jude: That's usually the standard first aid when someone's drowned duh

Then Jude bitches at her for getting all blushy over something like that and how she's gonna make him look stupid for saving her dumb ass. Finishing with exasperation, all …ugh whatever, I'm soaking wet and I'm going home, get ur ass to the doctor just in case. He chucks his jacket at her with a comment about how she's putting on a show (cause her clothes are wet and plastered and see-through) and it'll cause him problems and look bad to be seen with her like that so cover up. She's swimming in the jacket when she puts it on but it's warm and dry and smells like him and she has to scold herself BAD HEART NO SKIPPING BEATS.

Just about then Ellis tells them both to look up, and Jude's startled to see there's some leftover Christmas decoration or something in the tree above, with some mistletoe. Kate's thinking, oh dang, isn't there some superstition about how if a couple kisses under the mistletoe they'll be together forever?? DOES MOUTH TO MOUTH COUNT?

From the look Jude's giving her as he glances at her it seems obvious to us that Kate's every thought is probably plain as day in her expressions. He rips the decoration down, shoves it at Ellis and tells him: Burn it.

Ellis takes off immediately to do just that, and Kate begins all, uh….soooo…. Jude….

He stops her though and says, you don't actually believe in that superstition right?

Kate: PFFT N-NO >.> why, do you? Jude obesrves that she's a shit liar, before grabbing her arm and saying that he's gonna shove a new superstition into that ditzy head of hers. And with that he yanks her in and kisses her for real this time…but she can't help noticing how there's no warmth to it, not with the both of them freezing cold from the river and such. When he finally pulls back pointedly, Kate is thinking the icy kiss was like proving there's no love between them.

Jude proclaims that kissing under the same spot NEGATES the first kiss, so there - Cancelled. Nulled and voided.

Kate just….okayyyy. Clearly she knows he's just made this up, and she's wondering why the heck he would even bother kissing her again to make up for HER superstition. Does he hate the concept of it THAT much? Because, obviously, they aren't a couple. It wouldn't even apply. They're clearly not making some FOREVER PROMISE to each other.

…But it still kinda stings for some reason she can't explain.

She's chalking it up to the discrepancy between how glad she'd felt that Jude had saved her, and the NOPE attitude here, but Jude says that basically, just a kiss isn't worth it/enough to pledge TOGETHER FOREVER over. Clearly offended by the very idea. Kate's all, what, is a vow that bad??

And Jude simply says:

There's no such thing as forever.

It takes her a second to figure out how that's an answer to her question, and then it clicks. It's not that Jude dislikes the idea of a promise. It's that Jude always keeps his, and if 'forever' doesn't exist like that, he's not going to make that promise because he can't keep it. Nothing is forever, ergo a promise of eternity is bound to be broken, and therefore Jude would never make it. And Kate's thinking, GDI that's actually really sincere of him. People can lie to themselves too, about love and 'staying together forever'…but even if it's just a silly superstition, Jude never makes a promise he can't keep.

She wonders to herself if… someday, he might find someone he wants to pledge forever to. And she's musing how despite bitching and everything, he didn't hesitate to save her. She's spent enough time around him by now to know that he's not a bad man at heart. How behind all his ruthlessness and arrogance, he's not truly cruel at all.

…Someday, someone's going to notice that side of Jude and snag him. And that thought unsettles her, for some reason she can't explain.

And I'm probably realizing this a little too late. I may be arriving late at the theorizing table. Since i have not actually kept up with the ikevil lore properly

El, Al and roger in the same gatcha - makes the most sense cuz they are from the same story

William, Harri, Liam - The Beginning route trio. Liam and William have a connection in their curses story origin. Harri isn't meant to be any specific fox but when he and liam are together they do remind of a pair like the fox and cat from Pinocchio.

Jude and Ellis have a LONG history and their curses are connected.

Admittedly, I did read a translation of victor's first birthday story but even if I didn't, it's everywhere in his character design. He is called the God of Death. He got long her dark like a grim ripper's cape. His designated emoji is 💀. His birthday cake got a scite. Is it even a secret anymore?

William and Victor are old friends. When Victor stands next to him, he is Death that follows after the cruel queen of Hearts, who screams "Off with her head!"

Now if you put him next to Jude and Ellis, my brain suddenly remembers that, actually, Falling asleep was NOT the 13th fairy's curse, technically.

This should actually be so obviously i feel fucking stupid for not noticing sooner.

And i had to look this up to check to make sure twst hasn't been rotting my brain with disney lore again but no, this part is the same. The 13th fairy's curse was that the princess will die and the 12th fairy turned it into sleeping for 100 years and then being awaken by a handsome prince . (Altho notably, the parents burn all the spindless but they do NOT send her to live somewhere else, she grows up in the palace and the prophecy is fulfilled nevertheless. A lot of guys die trying to go wake her up till the 100 years are up and the right guy finally comes along and apparently when he does, the thorns even part themselves to let him pass?? No wonder disney had to add more plotpoints)

Why the fuck is jude's superpower putting people to sleep?

Is he not the 13th fairy? Unlikely. He does get excluded and hold grudges and it's deeply engrained in his character design. And we are not getting something as sappy in this game as him being the 12th fairy actually. Nuh uh. That's not what we signed up for here.

You know what could make sense tho?

If a part of his curse is that he CAN'T kill people. Not at all. Not even in self defense. If that was why when a mission's outcome is left to him, he gets people into contracts to pay him back and when someone's gotta go, Ellis does the killing. (Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm gonna look like such a clown if someone comes and tells me I'm wrong)

Holy fuck, god (cybird) made jude and was like "yeah you're gonna get excluded and people are gonna hold grudges and want you dead but you are NOT allowed to kill them. You can put them to sleep in self defense tho"

But actually,,, it would be a little different since curses are supposed to be sorta punishment for a certain sin, right? I know Harri's deal was that he tried to look away from the truth and lied, so he got cursed to always see the truth and also lie a lot. Never tell the truth. And I vaguely know from some event that Ellis' sin was "restraint" right?

In order for this to fit, that would mean Jude's sin would have to be trying to take revenge on someone innocent (like cursing a baby for her stupid parents' mistake) and the punishment to be to have power reduced/taken away (the curse being turned from death to 100 years of sleep)

I don't like talking about negative things too often especially not on a Tumblr blog but I am really liking Kate so far

I actually looked at this chapter a few days ago, but I needed some more time to think. this screenshot still stands out to me (William path is calling me out so bad)

this path is making me feel a lot more emotions than I should. it hurt. at first I didn't like William, but now I do, he's cool

apart from that I have a lot of thoughts on these two chapters

usually I don't like otome MCs. at all. they tend to make rash decisions, naive, oblivious and clueless, inconsistent characterization, forceful, etc. they feel really flat to me. but out of all the Cybird MCs I know (vamp, vil, pri), I feel like I relate the most to Kate... I'm not a fan of Kate's "innocent pure heart" (natural cybird MC character trait 💀), but otherwise...

of course MC varies by path, but in William's path she has trouble asserting herself, and Kate feels really guilty for things out of her control and things she can't change. she wanted to save all the people there. overall, Kate is considered a "people pleaser". sometimes I feel that way. unfortunately I'm much more of a loose cannon than her so nvm... but we do tend to consider others before our own. to the point this chapter felt too real to me. it brought me to tears, not something that happens often when I'm reading. it's likely something that happened back then (Cybird loves teaching us history...) a lot of shi happened in the victorian era. and then of course there's something personal. there's a lot of people who take substances in my family, and as much as I'd like to say "that's their decision"... I can't look away. it hurts to see them suffer. maybe that's why Kate suppresses herself so much. that's why she wants to be polite, to do anything to prevent people from feeling certain ways that hurt them as well. this route is already depressing, imagine how I'm going to feel in Liam route there's never that much info on the MCs, because you're supposed to fill in the blanks yourself... but again, I actually kind of like Kate more compared to the other MCs, because I feel more connected to her... kind of like how I feel some sort of connection with Alfons (I won't elaborate, but not in the unholy way.) I can't wait to see her develop more throughout this path I have to get to doing my work now...
