Election results for JP IkeGen’s 3rd Anniversary. It looks like this year’s votes have increased exponentially. 2021′s total votes was 4,829,082. The total votes this year just from Yoshitsune and Akihito (1st and 2nd place) have already exceeded that.

Ohhh after reading your last post I'm dying to know how much revenue each app makes in Japan? My favourite is IkeRev and I was always afraid they would stop updating (it seems the least popular online) but i absolutely love it. How does it do in JP? Compared to IkeSen, Pri and Vamp?

IkeRev JP still have yet to have it's election this year. (Probably real soon tho given that their 5th anniversary was yesterday). Dalim's route is also right around the corner so.... we shall see.

As a player of the jp versions of the Cyb*rd games, you have a right to express how you view and critique the games. This is odd because I have seen a lot of posts with criticisms of ikev*mpire and it’s characters that never resulted in backlash. Why is ikepr*nce exempt?

An excellent question, Nonny.

I suppose the easiest answer is it's still in the honeymoon phase for people - those who are excited about it just want to gush, and that's alright! It's great to be excited about something new, especially when there's still a lot of unknowns and people have yet to draw their own conclusions. Ikepri is not a bad game, by any means...you could do a lot worse, for sure.

But I suspect there is a defensiveness to it all. Yes we know money talks and it made the decision and we all have to live with that...but nobody can deny that the game some of us were excited about and hoping for was skipped.

It reminds me in a way of an election, where someone let's say...wins by electoral college technicalities but not the overall vote. (Not a 1:1 analogy here because we know ikegen isn't as popular but hang with me) There's always a contingency of those who supported the winner that immediately want to tell the other side, who's understandably upset, to just 'be quiet and accept the outcome'. They want the hubbub swept under the rug ASAP so they can enjoy their victory guilt-free.

As I said, this isn't a perfect analogy. I'm well aware Cybird is a company, not a government, and they can do whatever they damn well please. That's absolutely their prerogative! I cannot blame them at all! But when a usual pattern of behavior is altered in a way that leaves some folks out in the cold...they're going to feel a little betrayed, even if their rational mind recognizes otherwise. As long as we can all stay respectful, I would hope that people can recognize and sympathize with that.

ikevamp - interlude (chap 11). I skipped charles' route at that time due to the election. No idea when I'll have time to do him

ikeprince - keith's route (chap 9). I skipped silvio's and I don't have time to read litch's rn. I didn't decide yet if I'll do gilbert. I think once they release all the guys routes, I'll just read their act 2 if I really feel like it

ikegen - sueharu's route (chap 12) and kagetoki (chapter 5). Kagetoki is on hold until I finish sueharu's

Why does ikegen seems like it has few fandoms. I'm only judging since it seems only a few translates it in tmblr. But could it be the reason why it doesn't get an English release.

Who knows why they aren't releasing it in eng. Either they think that the eng fandom doesn't really care because no one from the eng fandom was hyping up the game on its release like we all do now for ikepri and ikevil or maybe it could be this one comment I read:

Saying that we eng players won't understand Japanese mythology is a bullshit excuse because I went into this game 'BLINDLY'. Do you know what blindly means? I didn't watch any trailers or read the basic premise of the game's story. Heck, I didn't even know Yoritomo and Yoshitsune and all the other male leads (except for demons and Sueharu) were real-life people. I didn't know the actual history about them at all. You see, when I first played ikevamp and ikesen, I at least knew that the male leads were based on real people. For example, I knew Nobunaga was a real-life samurai and that's all. I still played the game, ikegen because it looked very pretty. After playing the game for almost 4years, I can say that----Yes! this game does mention real life events such as the Genpei war and stuff. What I can tell you is that, even if you don't have any knowledge about the Japanese history or mythology, you can still enjoy this game as much. What this does is that, this game makes you curious as to what actually happened in real life. So that excuse about players not knowing mythology is not an excuse because if someone as dumb as me can understand, then you intelligent people can understand it too.

I don't know why, but the last comment makes me salty for no reason but it could also be true. Ofc ikepri is ikesen level popular in jp and overseas, but that doesn't mean that ikegen is any less popular. My Twitter is filled with Jp players and they all love to talk about ikegen 24/7. They come up with stupid ideas and theories and it's fun to read. Not to forget, their fanart and fanfic are very juicy most of the time. Ofc they also write and draw other ikemen games as well, but they all show equal love to every ikemen game. If you wanna check out some cool fan work of ikegen go to this link.

Also if you have seen the last ikegen anniversary general election it went from mere 4m total votes to 20m total votes. That's actually incredible when I saw it because I thought the total votes would drop. So there is a fandom in Jp that are ready to whale for ikegen I swear. I don't really know about the eng fandom. They all are interested but they don't want to try it out because its in jp (and I swear half of these are also the ones who play ikevil and ikepri in JP *angry grudge noises*). Yeah, do whatever you like. Thank you for making me salty for no reason!! *making angry grudge noises*

I see you are worried for ikegen future after the news about Ikerev. I mean, I was devastated. We haven't event gotten Blanc route yet. But... Maybe it's a sign that they will release ikegen in English? Or am I just crazy?

This is just my theory. Maybe they decided to shut down Ikemen revolution because they're planning on releasing a new game. Because like I said, Cybird must know when to stop. I know many fans still like the older games, but if they want to release new games in the future and if you want to play newer games, at some point both have to stop and move on, right? It's sad, but we can't do anything about it. At least we could say Ikerev survived more than 4 years I guess...it's copium...which is way better than what happened to Ikelive. No one even talked about that game when it was released and that survived for only 6 months or so. If you go to the Ikelive official website, you can read the interviews of the voice actors and it is so heartbreaking to see that they had so much planned for the game and its upcoming events but due to not gaining enough popularity it had to be shut down.

This comes to my second question, why Ikerev instead of Ikegen? Between the two, Ikerev is more popular than Ikegen. It even got an English release and has a larger fanbase than Ikegen. But I was confused as to what is the actual popularity benchmark. Some JP players (who, like me, were paranoid if ikegen would be next!) said that the popularity of their games is not only determined by the votes that are gained from the general election, but also from the merchandise purchased for each game and their revenue, as well. Because Cybird like any other company is greedy. Now I'm not saying that you should go spend your life savings on Ikemen genjiden to make it popular...No! The reason why I started this blog was to make people aware that this game exists. Because when I found out about this game, I saw no one on Tumblr posting about anything related to it. No fanarts, no fanfictions, heck! not even a rant post saying that 'Hey! Ikemen genjiden is shit. Don't play it'... So I tried the game myself to check if it was even worth my time and since then I've never uninstalled it. I started to write as many translations as I could because I know English players won't play the game until it has a global release and it's a painful process to sit down and translate each line. That's why I did the painful work so that you can guys somehow enjoy this game. I felt like if more people started playing the JP app, voting for the general election on their anniversary, answering their survey, etc will let them know that even English players are interested in their game. You don't have to buy their merchandise if you don't want to, but at least show some support by downloading the JP app and playing. Again! I'm not saying that waste all your time, 24 hours a day, playing this game. I'm just saying, if you want to support the game and enjoy more contents, play the Japanese app. Even if you don't understand what's going on, you can at least enjoy the spine-chilling soundtracks!

I already translated 3 main stories in my blog, @sakura-samsara is translating SHigehira and Yoichi's route, @yoshitsune1411 is doing the Kagetoki route. So check their blogs as well. If none of these are your favorite characters? No problem! I have a solution for that too. You can ask summary for each route from world-famous Ikemen writer @dear-mrs-otome herself. I'm sure she won't mind. (Please don't curse me @dear-mrs-otome for using your name...). If you're still complaining, use a translator! You guys didn't seem to mind playing the JP app of ikemen prince when it was released then why are you not doing the same thing for ikemen genjiden.

See, if you want Ikemen genjiden it has to be very popular and just because they shut down Ikerev doesn't mean that Ikegen's English release is possible. Because if they wanted it, they would have already done it.

Also, the other two people who send me some other questions relating to Ikemen genjiden...don't worry! I've already seen it, I'll answer it soon because I need some time to gather some facts about each character to give somewhat of an accurate answer. I'm also a little busy, right now. Can I just say, the Japanese players LOVESSS Yasuchika so much? Yet why the hell is ranked so low in Ikegen general election? I do love Yoshitsune, but compared to him, I have seen many fanarts of Yasuchika. There are more fanfictions on Yasuchika than any other characters.....yet I cannot understand why is he ranked so low. Looking at the fandom, I feel like he should be at least at the 3rd position, right?
