Actually, if you're an artist then a bunch of Rarity focused episodes are a godsend. I don't know them by name but:
-Episode where Rarity is making gala dresses for her friends. She works her ass off for them making custom dresses and the others fail to see how much GENUINE WORK despite the years and years of honed skills that is to appreciate it! And Rarity herself hasn't learned to draw the line because she cares about her friends so much. Basically, don't take art for granted just because the artist "does this as their job", pay them for anything extra, tip tip tip and artists, if you love yourselves, please create terms of service!
-Episode where Rarity opens her boutique and all the dresses end up being manufactured and the same instead of with unique designs she always made before because she dipped her hooves in business for the first time. Essentially she was "creating content that sells" and it burned her out so much she had trouble getting back to why she loved making dresses in the first place. Fuck being popular and fuck making content others will like just to get you ahead, fight for and keep creating out of your passion even if industry is demanding the opposite. Sustainability is difficult but it's better than losing what you love to do.
-Episode where Rarity makes stuff into existence with a poof of the magic necklace (I think, it's vaguely in my memory...) She sort of just starts making stuff with no imagination to it because it's easier. It sucks. She goes bonkers with power. Eventually she comes to and realizes all the stuff she made was not at all how she makes stuff. All the passion and personality she used to pour into the work she loved doing was none existent in those poof with magic creations even if she was the one who poofed them. Immediate and understandable disgust. Don't do that. Don't expect to magically make something beautiful, especially if it doesn't involve the process which is more important than how good the results are. You'll get there but not by jumbling shit together via magic necklace-- I mean AI. okay?

If you had battery-related performance issues on an older iPhone—and you got in on a class-action lawsuit against Apple six years ago—you could soon receive some payback for your trouble.
According to a statement released by the law office involved in the suit against Apple, the tech giant will soon have to pay out up to $500 million to customers affected by its throttling of iPhones that had older batteries. The so-called Batterygate scandal affected people using iPhones in the 6, 6S, and 7 families, as well as the original SE model, and stems from complaints from users that Apple purposely slowed down the devices after they installed software updates. Apple hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing, instead positing that its practice of deliberately slowing down its phones wasn’t a technique to get people to buy a newer device but rather a safety measure to keep the phones from shutting down when the battery got too low.
The checks will be doled out to the roughly 3 million people who filed claims for the lawsuit, which works out to somewhere between $65 and $90 per person. It’s too late to make a claim now—the deadline to join the suit passed in October 2020.
Here’s some more news about the stuff on your phone.
Premium Prime
Bad streaming music news for anyone who’s somehow not on Spotify or Apple Music: Amazon’s music streaming service is getting more expensive.
The price hike from $9 to $10 was revealed by a FAQ page on Amazon’s Music site, spotted by The Hollywood Reporter. The increase is relatively small and will apply to Amazon Prime members with Unlimited Music plans and family plans. But it’s part of a trend of streaming services putting the squeeze on their customers. The cost of a Spotify Premium subscription went up by a buck last month after 12 years without an increase. Hulu and Disney+ are getting more expensive later this year. Netflix has cracked down on password sharing and introduced a paid ad-supported tier. And don't forget that HBO Max removed gobs of content from its platform. Amazon Music doesn’t seem to be ditching any of its songs quite yet—or banning password sharing—but clearly the Amazonian overlords want to squeeze a little more out of the platform.
Muting TikTok
A recent Reuters poll shows that nearly half of Americans approve of the US banning the social media app TikTok. (Disclosure: Yes, WIRED is on TikTok.)
US lawmakers have been talking about tanking TikTok for years now, citing concerns that the app’s Chinese parent company ByteDance could share Americans’ user data with the Chinese government or that the app could serve as a software backdoor for Chinese spyware. Pundits and members of Congress have posited the TikTok ban as a push to protect privacy, even though the issue is more due to international tensions between the US and China. (Cue the I Think You Should Leave “you sure about that?” clip.)
The process of actually banning the app from US soil would be laborious and controversial. Montana is going to give it a shot in 2024, when its recently passed TikTok ban goes into effect. Enforcing a ban will be nigh impossible, since users could likely circumvent the rules by using a VPN to make it appear that they are in another location or by simply downloading the app while they are traveling to another state.
Stay Cool
It’s getting hotter here on planet Earth. Heat waves intensify, oceans warm, and wildfires worsen. And all the while, humans—and everything else living on the planet—pay the price. Human influence has undeniably altered the weather of the world, and as we hurtle along in a climate emergency, it’s only going to grow hotter and more unstable.
This week on the Gadget Lab podcast, WIRED’s resident doomsday reporter, Matt Simon, joins the show to talk about extreme heat, why it keeps getting warmer, and how we might be able to adapt.

Lil real life update~ mostly just incoherent rambles
I’m starting a new job in January. It’s been in the works a crazy long time now but I didn’t mention anything sooner, which I’m glad for because it has taken actually forever and anything that could possibly happen to delay the process did happen :’) But it finally paid off. I’m quitting my current job in December because it’s the only way I’ll be able to get time off to spend Christmas with my family for the first time in years (since it’s “forbidden” for us to request time off October - early January at my current job). It caused some drama with my in-laws who I guess pre-emptively assumed we were doing “Christmas” in January because “that’s what we always do” (yeah because I can’t get any other time off, not for funsies or our personal preference lol????) but whatever, that’s a whole other thing. I have finally escaped the service industry! As someone with no degree and no “marketable skills,” that’s huge lol. And I am very excited. I am little nervous since I don’t know a lot about the job or what to expect. The hours apparently vary wildly--some times of the years we are off, some times will be slow, some it will be super busy and I’ll be working a lot of hours. I’m not really sure how it will go. I don’t really have the spoons to keep up with overtime let alone fulltime work. But like? I already work 30 hours a week at an emotionally, physically, and mentally draining job. I lose two entire days every week of my life to double-shifts that leave me no time for anything but sleep and hygeine. I feel so busy and so drained I can’t even enjoy my time off or do anything with it. So like, could it really be any worse than that? It also involves some travel which I am really excited for! I do kinda wanna scream because things are going to shit with my husband’s job and he’s talking about us moving back to DC/noVA because that’s where the most job opportunities for him are now that I’ve finally got this job that I sunk a year of waiting and endless hours of paperwork into and I am so tired of moving :))))) But w/e we’ll see how things go. I am ignoring that possibility for now and just going to let myself feel excited that I can finally quit this shit job LOL I know I haven’t talked about my real job a lot here. I’m a hostess at a fine dining restaurant which is one of the nicest places in this combination tourist trap + retirement community I have the misfortune of currently residing in. Along with all the usual fun of working in the service industry, most of our regular customers are rich, entitled old people, and then we get a lot of people coming to celebrate special occasions and expecting everything to be ~*perfect*~ and business people having business meals and thinking they are more important than everyone else in the restaurant. It’s kinda horrible and to top it all off, my boss may actually be one of the worst people I have ever met. I know most people hate their bosses and like yeah, I’ve had bad bosses before, but no, this is beyond the stereotype. She incompetent. She is lazy, won’t do shit, only comes in for two “shifts” a week (by which I mean she shows up like three hours into an actual shift) but then tries to micromanage and do nothing but lecture people and refuse to help solve any actual problems or talk with customers wanting to speak with her. Her shitty attitude toward us is not even a “the customer is always right” thing; she is actively horrible to both her employees and even the customers, like almost actively malicious toward our customers who give her their money LOL. We get bad reviews about her and she upsets so many of our customers. She’s a spiteful, racist, xenophobic, Fox-news obsessed piece of MAGA shit who goes on about her shitty political views at the work place to us and bewildered customers alike. She won’t let anyone request time off for anything but she’ll take multiple vacations a year + time off for plastic surgeries and not even have someone available to cover for her in her absence. Oh and she loves to party and drink with her employees who are younger than her own children, get mixed up in all their drama, and bring her relationship drama about who is cheating on who in her marriage (well, former marriage now lol) into the workplace and like. If it weren’t for everyone else still there, I would love to see this entire business blow up in her face, but oh well. Anywho, I’m excited for the new job but definitely nervous. Even if it doesn’t work out, I’m just so relieved I can quit my current job before I actually snap. I’m really looking forward to the future now. Even if that means potentially moving yet again.

Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday, Sam!!!!
In your work of fiction, what are your greatest inspirations for the creation of your world?
What are the proemient cultures of your world? Is it real world based?
What are your characters favorite foods and why?
How hass your fictional world influemced the way your characters are today?
Hello, hello! Happy WBW!
Oh my, that's quite a few questions. This will get a bit long, so putting it under the cut.
In your work of fiction, what are your greatest inspirations for the creation of your world?
I draw a lot of inspirations from history, and especially from looking into the everyday lives of people in the past centuries, especially from the lower classes. I learn all these cool things about dead professions or clever solutions that required really simple tools, and I want to use it.
At the same time, I will always list The Stormlight Archive as an inspiration - less in terms of any particular element of it, but how much worldbuilding can fit into a book and how it all meshes together. A meta-inspiration, if you will.
What are the proemient cultures of your world? Is it real world based?
The Sunblessed Realm is very much based on the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth at the end of the 18th century. We're talking fashion, food, climate, a lot of technology, customs, etc., lifted and shifted from this timeperiod and region. The key difference is religion - or lack thereof. In my setting, people revere forces of nature (since it has an elemental magic system), and there isn't a monotheistic religion.
In The Fulcrum, I'm still developing a lot of the details, and the story takes form of a travelogue. I ended up mixing and matching a lot of elements of various Bronze- and early-Iron age cultures from the real world to fit the other aspects of the setting - like the climate or the fact that I can't just use human clothing for avians. And I need to find a tonne of workarounds for plants and animals that were historically used on Earth, but don't exist on Avia.
What are your characters favorite foods and why?
Let's go with the main trio of the Days of Dusk.
Ianim has a sweet tooth. Since methods for processing sugar beets for sugar have just been developed and the first factories are set up, he's enamoured with anything that contains white sugar. It's not yet popularised to the point where sugar is cheap enough to be accessible to an average person, and honey is a more common sweetener. The Princeling often doesn't realise that things that are mundane to him, aren't so 'everyday' to his friends... (Lissan actually doesn't like things sweetened with sugar, since he likes the additional flavour and aroma that comes with honey)
Lissan can't imagine going more than a couple of weeks without apples. He was born in a region nicknamed 'the First Princedom's Orchards' - where at least half of the people were in some way involved in producing or processing apples.
Gullin... actually doesn't have a favourite food. He'll eat anything that's hearty, and filling, and made for him.
How hass your fictional world influemced the way your characters are today?
I'm not entirely sure I understand the question 😶
Since the main cast of Days of Dusk is comprised of Swords, they all serve in the Army. They'd enlisted as the law required them to, but in most cases they stayed in service for longer than the mandatory 20 years.
There are also multiple ways in which their backgrounds and upbringing play into their behaviour and beliefs - see comment about Ianim considering luxuries to be mundane.

[Never would happen, but i don't care] (Mukuro) kissing them to shut them up .
Taken from meme: [x] ||Accepting|| KEK, and that's why I said none of these are canon so just treat it like fun time~ glad you're taking me up on that lol First is a joke drabble.
Haru was talking nonstop like she does at times, and she had inadvertently been annoying Mukuro all this while. He asked her something about costumes, and as it's one of her major hobbies, she was excited to talk about it!
She was getting into all the technical parts of making a costume, and that's not what he was really interested in learning about. Haru had misunderstood in her excitement.
There was only one thing to do. Shove some chocolate into her face.
Haru was surprised for sure, but she wasn't going to waste the hershey kisses that she was so rudely bestowed. Chew chew chew.
-
KEK, now for the actual attempt to clearing the prompt. It wasn't stated who was doing the kissing, so I made the choice.
-
It wasn’t very often, but there were times that Haru would go on some missions, and they were normally recon-based. Sometimes, she’d be asked to infiltrate an area and scope out the place by acting like a regular civilian. It wasn’t hard when you thought of it was a vacation or something. It wasn’t often when she was paired off with another person- but she had reason to believe that it was simply because they secretly had someone tailing her to ensure her safety.
It was like they had no faith at all- rude. Anyways, the Vongola were tipped off to some girls going missing, to never be seen again. Investigations have led to all the women having something in common, that they had contact with a man who promised them that he may have a high paying job laid out for them. The girls would quit their jobs after talking to him, and all seemed fine at first until all contact with them would get cut off a few weeks afterwards.
Having a number of women go missing in such a way was obviously a concern.
That enough warranted the attention of the Vongola, and so they had no other choice than to ask one of the girls to scope the scene and maybe even be the bait. With the prospects of this mission taking weeks at a minimum to complete, many of the women affiliated with the Vongola were busy with their own missions. They couldn’t possibly be held up with a mission like this over a more crucial mission.
Not to mention that some just weren’t cut out for missions involving acting and appearing meek enough to be a prime target for this guy that targeted young women. Through a process of elimination, Haru was asked to take on the mission herself.
Honestly, even Haru initially had her reservations about assigning this to her. It wasn’t to say that she was utterly hopeless at acting… but she did have a temper. Haru wasn’t afraid to simply punch a pervert who had untoward intentions. Dr. Shamal was a common victim of her punches, and Haru will die on the hill that he deserves every punch she gives him.
She wasn’t entirely confident she wouldn’t immediately punch the guy if he did approach her out of righteous vindictiveness, but if she thought about how she needed to find out what had happened to the missing women, she could stay her fist for a brief moment.
What her mission details read, was that she was to somehow make contact with the man in question and find out as much as she could about him. If she could figure where all the other girls had gone, even better.
The true issue were the identities of most of the missing women. They either had no family, or were estranged from their own families, so it didn’t gain much traction for their going missing until now. The other troubling part of their identities were that many of the women had jobs like being a cabaret girl, or working in places like maid cafes.
That alone made Haru cast the judgement that the guy was a major pervert, because he only targeted women who worked in fields where you had to sell smiles a customer service and treat men like Kings.
Was she wrong? Absolutely not.
How they did it, she didn’t know, but after pulling some strings, Haru was given a job at a cabaret club as one of the girls who served drinks to customers. Her name at work was ‘Rumi-chan,’ and all the other workers had the understanding that her real name was ‘Hanako,’ an orphan girl who was struggling because of the debts her parents left her with.
As such, she had to settle for working at a cabaret club. She thought she was going to lose her mind from having to tolerate the perverts who flocked to the club on a nightly basis. If not for her target entering the club, Haru may have left the club after causing some chaos.
Alas… Haru could exercise restraint and patience for the greater good. It didn’t take long for her to catch the eye of the bastard after he’d heard from the other girls about how they had a new hire. They asked him to treat her well because she was struggling with debts.
Tumblr media
Haru was sure they had good intentions… and for the sake of her mission, this worked out great! This ‘Muramasa’ was apparently some 2nd generation rich kid who liked to flaunt his money at all the clubs in this district, so they were possibly looking out for her.
You could get a hefty bonus if you served rich clients, after all.
SIGH
Her poor blood pressure. It took every single fiber of her being to refrain from slapping him every time he touched her. It didn’t even matter how innocent a touch it could have been, she felt disgusted by even breathing the same air as a man who was suspected of trafficking women away.
Whenever she was given a break, Haru would always go outside to be away from the customers. She liked going on a small walk to escape from it all, clear her mind. It was a few days into her meeting Muramasa when she noticed that she was being tailed every time she went on break. (In her defense, she used to not be able to tell if someone was tailing her, but she’s improved! It took her a few days to notice, but she got around to it eventually! Give her some credit)
Anyways, it was evident that she was probably going to be the next target. Guess the next phase of the plan of being bait was going to run smoothly. How great. (Can you hint the sarcasm?)
Sad that even when on break she didn’t have the freedom to truly relax.
Tumblr media
She feels someone’s gaze on her and she looks to the side to see a familiar face. What was Mukuro doing in this district? Maybe he had some business here? Was he looking for information? There were a few underground factions working here, like how some of the cabaret clubs had affiliations with the Yakuza. Maybe that’s how the Vongola managed to pull strings to get Haru a position.
The eye contact had gone for too long now that she thought about it. Ah! Did the ones tailing her notice that? Was that going to look suspicious? She quickly changes her pathing and she heads straight for him.
“Kyaa~ You’re back in town? Its been so long!”
(No one look at her please, her pride is dying here with every step she takes!)
Tumblr media
She reaches for him, guiding his face with her hands so she can steal a kiss.
Almost.
In truth, just at the last second, she placed her thumb in between their lips so they didn’t actually share a kiss.
She fears that she’d get in a lot of trouble if she stole a kiss from Rokudo Mukuro.
Just when she pulls away from the ‘kiss’ and she gives him a big hug next. “I’m on a mission, and I go by Rumi. Don’t ruin my cover.” She whispers. When she pulls away from the hug, she left a small note tucked onto the collar of his shirt. “If you could deliver that, I’d be grateful.” It was a note that she had to get delivered to any of the Vongola guardians.
“You’re so mean, why didn’t you say anything about you being in town again? Mou~ You’re so bad. Are you going to visit the club later?” Haru continues to act as though she was just talking to an old customer she knew.
(Surely that’d be enough to fool her trackers? QuQ)
“Ah, my break is almost over. I have to go back. You should visit again, okay? Bye~” With a playful wink (she’s only acting as her Rumi setting requires of her. Don’t judge her!) she trots off back to the club to resume work.
Someone save Haru, she doesn’t want to do this anymore! Hasn’t she suffered enough? Now someone she knows had to witness her acting. Excuse her as she’s mentally crying her life away.

Day 18 and 19 of Building Elsa’s Ice Palace
Yesterday I crashed for like 12 hours lol. I mean I had to stay up for like 28 hours for that to happen, but totally worth it, right?
(Hopefully that won’t happen again any time soon.)
I finally looked up vrbo and boy am I late to the party. I thought it was for regular rentals, not vacation homes. Oh well there goes that idea. I guess I can try advertising on craigslist.
Well I couldn’t do anything at work (personal projects-wise) because the internet kept going out, so a bit of a delay on my end. It gives me time to plan out my weekend.
I don’t remember if I mentioned that I considered getting another overnight gig or not, but I was thinking about getting a second job to overlap with my first one, since most of my night is pretty quiet. So on a whim I decided to apply for a tumblr customer support job lol let’s see if I hear back I wanna see what happens.
Once I got home I was finally free to get my butt in gear and get my business started! :D It’s actually not hard at all filing for an LLC and making your business legal and filed with the state. Only problem is for my particular state you need to pay to file for the paperwork. :/ Oh well, small cost in the long run.
Honestly getting zoom set up took longer. It was super annoyingly hard trying to get my calendar and mail connected and set up with it. The thing wouldn’t connect through google to let me sign in at first. But now it’s done, so people can sign in and schedule appointments. I tried to make a website, but I’ll have to set up my business bank account first so that I can process payments and start actually booking appointments (gotta at least have a place for the money to go, right?)
And honestly? I feel really good. I felt super productive and started getting things done left and right. Granted it was simple stuff but it still didn’t leave me feeling exhausted like it normally does. Maybe all that praying finally worked lol. Only issue is that for any website, app, or service etc. that I can find to help me book appointments or schedule things is still a paid service (which makes sense since this is for businesses) which means I can’t do anything until next week when my paycheck comes in. Looks like it will be split between down payment costs and business start ups. But hey, at least I can write these off for my taxes!
Checking craigslist there seems to be a few people renting and a couple people looking to rent, so that’s promising. I sent a couple emails out to people so I’ll wait to hear back from them. As long as I can find a tenant a couple weeks after closing, I’ll be golden.
Speaking of closing, my loan is now with the underwriters. Basically they're the final approval process for the loan. Everything should go smoothly, and I assume I'll hear back sometime next week.
Well I’d better eat and head to bed. There’s going to be a lot more involved in the business start up than I even realized, but what else is new, lol. Wish me luck in my new ventures!

you are a librarian, right? what's it like? (-a high school senior trying to find her way in the world)
very very newly i am a librarian! i got my degree this year and my first actual librarian job a month ago, so i'm not the most experienced person to ask. with that said, here are some thoughts.
i work part-time in two public libraries; i'm the youth services librarian at one (very small) and a clerk/substitute librarian at the other (fairly large). there is a LOT that i have just not done yet because my hours are shorter than my ambitions, but at the moment, most of both jobs is helping people print their documents and check out books.* in the day-to-day there is a Lot of customer service involved. in my experience, most (not all) library patrons are polite and happy to be there, but you definitely want to like people to work in a library. like, i'm an introvert, socially awkward, and constantly tongue-tied, but i do really like helping people.
*in my larger library, we have a separate department for circulation (aka what i do as a clerk), so librarians are freed up from the actual checkin/checkout work and shelving and so on. in the small library, we have fewer employees and fewer things to process, so everyone kind of pitches in together. so how much of the grunt work you do as a librarian varies a lot by the size and funding of the library.
the other big parts of my youth services job that i've started sinking my teeth into are collection development and programming.
so collection development is just taking care of what's in the library. what are you going to purchase? what do people in the community want? what reflects the community's diversity? what's good? what's informative? what's new? what's a classic? what's popular? what are you going to take out of the collection, because it hasn't been checked out in a long time or there's no more room on the shelves or it's falling apart? what are you going to replace it with? etc. at my larger library, there are enough librarians that the collections get split up, and they start newer librarians handling, like, maybe just the nonfiction 700s. or just youth graphic novels. at the smaller library, i'm it, baby. so next week i'll be doing some purchasing for the whole youth collection. picture books, chapter books, juvenile fiction and nonfiction and graphic novels, teen fiction and nonfiction and graphic novels, children's dvds... probably some things i'm forgetting, because i'm still getting to know the library. and obviously, i have to do this within the constraints of our budget and physical space (both also small). it's insanely fun but also a lot of responsibility. fortunately i have people to lean on as i'm starting out.
a lot of being a librarian is also asking other librarians for advice. fortunately librarians love to give advice.
programming i have barely scratched the surface of yet, but it's planning and carrying out programs for people in the community to attend. depending on where you are and what age group you're serving, that might be classes on esl or resume-writing. it might be book clubs or storytimes. it might be art programs or trivia night or d&d. or honestly anything. this is the part of the job where (i think, and a lot of other librarians have told me) you get to shape your role to your own interests. of course, i'm also trying to figure out what is plausible with the resources i have and what people will actually sign up for. (my community, like many others, got hit hard by the pandemic, so figuring out what can be done virtually and what can safely be done in-person is another element of that in this historical moment. but it's also important to think about the accessibility of programs broadly.)
there's way more to the field as a whole, to academic librarianship, to archives… but that's most of what it's like for me, right now. in a day as a youth services librarian, i sit at the desk; i process books; i help patrons as they come in, and i try to ask people (especially the kids) what they're checking out and what they like; i read book reviews and make lists with lots of notes about what i want for the collection and why; i might also have a project going during the day, like pulling the books off a shelf and going through them one by one, so i can physically see what needs to be discarded, updated, or replaced.
if you think you might be interested in working in a public library, i would say
talk to (other) librarians
look into volunteering locally (or working part-time, if that's an option). you will mostly be doing the grunt work, but it's the best way i know to find out what goes on in a library and if you like it. if you're curious and ask lots of questions, most librarians want to talk about their work. again, we love to give advice!
i would also say... don't worry about the money and grad school aspect of it until after that.
like, to be clear [this is the depressing paragraph], i don't get paid a lot. i think librarians on the whole don't get paid enough for all the roles they are sometimes asked to fill. i mentioned that i have two part-time jobs, and unfortunately that's typical for a lot of people in my position. a lot of libraries, being critically underfunded, might not have more than a handful of full-time degreed librarians, which means they can be really competitive positions. and grad school was a real struggle for me, and i stress out about repaying my loans, um, a lot.
so that's definitely something to know! but i'm still saying don't worry about it yet, because really, i think as a high school senior, it's getting way ahead of yourself.
full disclosure: i am advising you to do what i did as a high school senior, lol. i volunteered and then worked as a page at my local library. when i was getting ready to go to college, i talked about wanting to be a librarian, and was basically told "there's no money in that," so i kind of put it out of my head. but here i am anyway, because i really loved it and continued to love it and still love it. so to me, the first thing to do is just find out if you like it! is it something you can see yourself doing? would you like working in a library?
and if you do — you may still want to ask yourself what it is that you like, because there are other jobs in a library besides librarian that might scratch the itch of the things you like about it. in a larger library, we have full time supervisors and administrators who have never gone within 49 and a half feet of library school.
i hope this was helpful. i'm sure there's more i could say but my brain has stopped working and i need to eat pizza immediately

love the guy assigned to my case at the “help you get a job” program. i have exactly 2 modes. 1) procrastinating until the absolute last minute. And 2) guess I will complete months worth of work that is also due at the end of the year in exactly 3 days of non-stop effort. You can basically flip a coin as to which approach my brain will decide to take for any given task.
so yeah I have a job now. and my poor case manager dude is like “wait. no. that was so fast. it’s been one week. you did how many interviews? and you picked...this one. the one that is not like anything you have done before and also was not on the “jobs I think would work out for me” list that we made?”
and he was scrambling like “accommodations. training. oh god. um. do i need to talk to your employers?” and getting more anxious when I was like “no i think I have it covered.” like i am sorry bro but i know that my vibes in person are like “quiet forgetful autistic person who can pass for either a high school student or a grandma at any moment” and this does not inspire confidence, but I am actually pretty independent once someone gives me a little push to start a thing.
also...dude you have my job history. winter sports area general worker (concessions, ticket sales, renting ski/snowshoe equipment, managing cross-country trails, monitoring the tube hill, etc.). family restaurant hostess (basically every role in the place except a cook). person selling fireworks out of tent for all of July while also living in a smaller tent behind the shipping crate filled with things that go boom. call center customer service rep handling 4 different clients that range from crafts and home decor to incontinence products and super expensive furniture. freelance dog-sitting with clients ranging from “rich couple who wants me to let their elderly cockapoos out twice a day for $50 bucks a pop in a house with a basement theater” to “i’ll give you $10 a day to exercise and feed the 3 huskies in our small apartment also they can jump higher than you are tall and scream louder than you thought possible.” bro we added a whole “volunteer experience” section to my resume because I wrote grants and worked with an environmental group to restore native bluebirds to the community and volunteered at the community table and the animal shelter and the library. like i have done lots of things that are not really connected at all. someone says “hey do you think you could do this?” and I am suddenly living out of a tent for a month googling “what the fuck is a crossette?” i once ended up in Memphis for 2 months doing volunteer construction work in the aftermath of a hurricane because my cousin didn’t want to go alone and everyone was like “oh we know someone who goes with the flow so hard.”
so you better believe i told you “oh i don’t know, maybe a receptionist position would be nice” and then applied to every local job known to god and then a few extra and took the first one to say “cool can you start next week?” i know i did not give off “I will try anything at least once if you ask me fast and then go ‘great!’ before I can process what i agreed to” vibes while sitting in your office in my colorful leggings, grandma sweaters and animal hats while not making eye contact and talking about how lovely my nephew is and how much I enjoy quiet time alone and gardening and i struggle with a poor memory and navigating social interactions. but i know you proofread my resume my guy. you asked questions about all these things except the construction thing because i actually forgot to mention that actually which is good because then i might have had to mention the cult involvement that i wasn’t aware of until i was stuck on-site but it all worked out so no sweat. still, i am glad that he is concerned by my “out of the blue” spontaneity. it’s kind of his job to help people settle into jobs that they can handle, and I also know that I would realistically need more assistance from him if I wasn’t so good at adapting on the fly due to my bad habit of saying “sure, I can do that” to literally anything. also my new job is honestly pretty tame, so i am not sure what he is freaking out about. i should really not mention some of the other jobs i spontaneously applied for before accepting this one. like..my friend...i could be working in a bridal shop. i could be training to install and repair vending machines or decorating cakes or delivering medical equipment. i applied for a job that was literally “window production.” none of these are actually as wild as that time I spent 2 months with a religious cult doing manual labor and living out of an abandoned, half-destroyed school building because my cousin talked me into it. i had to watch a dramatic reenactment of the crucifixion of Jesus on my very first night that brought the whole gymnasium of strangers to wild, howling tears while I was awkwardly clapping my hands as my cousin sobbed incoherently into my shoulder. i once dog-sat a bluetick coonhound for 2 weeks in the dead of winter, and the snow if his yard was so high that he was able to jump the fence and book it down the street. i had to chase him through knee-high snow for over an hour before he stopped to sniff a bemused old lady long enough for me to catch him. i once had a customer at the restaurant rail at me for a good twenty minutes because she was absolutely sure that we did serve pineapple upside down cake and i was just withholding this dessert from her, specifically. the bar for “jobs I would apply for” is so low that I actually thought “well as long as nobody spits in my face, pukes on me consistently, or shanks me in the kidney again I could probably do anything.” although to be fair to my case manager i did not mention those things to him (except the pineapple upside down cake lady because I mention her all the time, i am still pissed off about that situation). also, my sister was actually the one to have a dog wake her up in the middle of the night only to puke directly into her mouth, but I watched it go down, so the psychic trauma of witnessing that still exists.
#honestly i think my poor social skills get me into half of the situations in my life#because i agree to things before i process them because most people talk and talk too fast for me#so i spend the whole conversation trying to keep up also figure out what the hell we're talking about#and then at the end i turn to my sister and say 'so what was that about?'#and she says something like 'you signed up to sell fireworks out of a tent for all of july' and i just have to run with that#the other half of the situations just come from having relatives and family friends that actively seek out situations#but want to drag someone adaptable and chill along who will also not say 'that's literally insane. no' when asked#also i need less cousins who take the zombie apocalypse life tip of always bringing a slow runner with you to situations#like i am a small person ok. my legs are shorter. i can't help it that everyone else is sprinting around on their stilt-legs#also just like i like to take walks with my dad because the mosquitoes love his blood way better than mine#i have a history of 'first person to get stabbed in a situation' that is probably just due to being the weakest looking person in any group#and i don't really panic in emergencies. i don't really know why. maybe it's something to do with being autistic#but if someone is screaming in pain and writhing on the floor#or an alarm goes off#or a bus skids on the ice and smears a stranger across the sidewalk right in front of me#or if i get mugged in a coffee shop while i'm studying for exams#i don't really do the things that other people around me do in the same situation#i personally think that the bubble i exist in just runs slower than everyone else's#so they're all having their reactions and freaking out while i'm still like 'damn something sure is happening right now.#am i supposed to do anything about this?'#and then if the answer is: 'yeah you should probably calm down that guy on the floor. figure out why he's screaming. then call 911 maybe?'#then i'll just do that while other people are saying things like 'oh god what's happening?!'#like if i panicked every time i had a dog that i was responsible for make a stupid life decision in front of me#or had a cult member ask me. an atheist. if i felt like i connected with god at the emotional catharsis activity#or honestly even just every time i've ever been stabbed in the left kidney even tho that's only happened twice#then i don't know i would probably be doing a lot of panicking#maybe it's an energy thing. i feel like panicking requires more energy than i usually have access to

The Importance of Delivery Software in Last-mile Connectivity
Most customers don’t know how goods are transported and the complex work involved in the entire operation. The process starting from the point of ordering to reaching the final receipt at the destination can be confusing if not automated with a proper software designed for last-minute delivery. It is complicated work to keep a tab on the movement if you don’t use Delivery Management Software.
Here are the advantages of using a delivery management system in the last-mile experience of customers.
The entire operation becomes transparent and customers can directly log into your website or app and check all information on a real-time basis. The customer can monitor the exact location of the merchandise, arrival, and departure at each point of transhipment, details of the delivery agent (or driver), and a graphical display of the route. A good last-mile experience is important if you want to give users a historic experience.
Delivery management software has a wide range of functionalities that are difficult to manage manually. The problem with manual delivery is that they are prone to human errors and inefficiency. The software can auto-assign tasks for drivers automatically and minimize human attention. It can schedule delivery, notify customers in advance and overall reduce the burden on the delivery teamwork. Overall such software increases your brand’s reputation.
Last-mile route operation with the software will improve better utilization of vehicles. The software will calculate using intelligent algorithms for determining the shortest route the driver should take, traffic density in the route, weather forecasts, and the ability of the vehicle being used. It can locate the nearest driver available and maximize the number of stops the person can service. Management software for delivery can be used for analyzing by using historical stored data.
Software handling the last-mile segment will help the business operator in making accurate delivery charge calculations. It can calculate charges based on a flat-rate basis, variable charges calculated based on pickup and drop points, minimum charges (example 2 KMS) with provision for additional charges on the actual distance covered, and in eligible cases free delivery. The benefit is you can give customers a transparent and rationalized tariff card.
Your delivery business will have limitless benefits such as: quicker deliveries, time-bound delivery commitment, precision delivery point locating, direct customer-to-driver communication, operational transparency to all stakeholders in the loop, and a higher level of customer satisfaction that will increase revenue flow and profit.
Why Outfleet?
Outfleet is a reputed Delivery Management System that focuses on customer satisfaction and ease of operation in the last-mile delivery of all types of merchandise. Worst Mistakes in Sales That Cost You Deals
Tumblr media
When it comes to sales, there are a lot of things that can go wrong. In fact, studies show that the majority of sales deals fall through because of mistakes made by the salesperson.
This can be costly for your business, so it’s important to learn what these mistakes are and how to avoid them.
In this blog post, we will discuss some of the worst mistakes in sales and how you can prevent them from costing you deals!
Only trying to close once
One of the most common mistakes salespeople make is only trying to close once. There is no perfect time to ‘close’ a deal, and salespeople should be looking to close multiple times throughout the sales process.
What we mean by this, is that you should always be looking for ways to move the deal forward and get closer to a sale.
If you only try to close once, you’re missing out on opportunities to build rapport, establish trust, and create value for your potential customer.
There are a couple of reasons why this mistake is so costly.
Firstly, it puts all the pressure on the one ‘close’ attempt, which can often lead to rushed or premature decisions. Trying to close too early can also put the potential customer on the defensive, which is never a good position to be in.
Secondly, by only trying to close once, you’re effectively giving up after the first ‘no’. If you think of each sale as an incremental process, then you can see how giving up at the first ‘no’ is missing out on a lot of potential sales.
The solution to this mistake is relatively simple: don’t try to close the sale on the first meeting. Instead, focus on building rapport and trust, and creating value for the potential customer. By taking this approach, you’ll find that closing the sale becomes much easier.
Not asking for what you want upfront
Another common mistake salespeople make is to skirt around the issue of what they want from the potential customer. The fear of rejection at an early stage leads them to shy away from asking for what they want, whether that’s a commitment to meet again or an actual purchase.
The result of this approach is that the salesperson wastes a lot of time going back and forth without ever getting to the point. Not only is this a huge waste of time, but it also puts the potential customer off as they can see that the salesperson is avoiding the real issue.
At some point in any negotiation, you’ll need to take a stand and ask for what you want. The key is to do it in a way that’s respectful and confident, without putting the other person on the spot. If you can master this skill, you’ll be well on your way to closing more deals.
Being upfront also minimizes the amount of wasted time and resources spent on pursuing a deal that’s not going to happen. By being honest about your position and what you’re looking for, you can save everyone involved a lot of time and energy.
Not taking into account the customer’s needs
Understanding the customer’s needs is essential to being able to sell them the right product or service. If you don’t take the time to understand their needs, you’ll likely end up selling them something that isn’t a good fit, which will cost you the deal.
Make sure you spend enough time getting to know your customers and what they’re looking for before you start trying to sell them something.
The initial discovery call is a great time to start learning about your customer and what they need. Make sure you ask plenty of questions and really listen to the answers.
While closing the sale is important, proving an effective solution to the customer’s problem is even more so. If you’re not able to provide a solution that meets their needs, you’ll never close the sale.
Using statements instead of questions
This is a fairly simple one, but it comes up a lot. When you’re trying to close a deal, make sure you’re using questions instead of statements.
Asking questions allows you to further qualify the opportunity and understand the customer’s needs. It also shows that you’re interested in their business and want to help them succeed.
On the other hand, making statements implies that you already have the answers. This can come across as arrogant and turn the customer off.
When a customer raises an objection, it’s important to take the time to understand what they’re really saying. Asking the right questions can help you negotiate around the objection and get to a mutually agreeable solution. Simply boarding them with statements will only make them defensive and less likely to do business with you.

I'm starting my own business. I feel an absolute cliche of a stay at home wife but that's what I'm doing. To be honest, this is what I'm good at. I spent 10 years puttering around inventory and packaging and customer service. I can do this and I know I can.
Plan to sell small quantities of substrates at a reasonable price. Right now, you either pay up the wazoo or you buy a giant bag of things like chunky perlite. People with small collection or small budgets don't have the luxury of either of those.
I want making your own mixes to be accessible. In the future, I plan on selling small succulents, plant kits, and 3d printed plant accessories. This first iteration is mostly a proof of concept. I want to be sure I can actually do the damn thing before I invest more.
The kits are going to be particularly fun as they involve mason jars. I am a cliche but I fucking love mason jars. Before I sell the kit I need to make sure I know the ins and outs. I want to be able to competently answer questions about the things I sell. This requires me to grow a couple plants in it and that's exciting! Experiments!
CHEMISTRY!
Hydroponic nutrient mixing requires a bit of chemistry and it's fun to mix things up. I'm super scared of nutrient lock and burning roots but I did it and I'm monitoring them. Definitely should have experimented with just one or two plants before feeding them all the solution but lol 1 or 11 amirite?
This year was not great. I had a lot of loss to process. My family. My boyfriend. My favorite person. I hurt for a lot of it. I still hurt and I'm not sure the hurt for any of those is going away any time soon.
BUT!
Good things are happening and I am sometimes happy.

Unlocking Business Synergy: A Comprehensive Guide to Salesforce SAP Integration
Tumblr media
In today’s hyper-connected digital landscape, enterprises are constantly seeking ways to streamline their operations and enhance productivity. One of the most powerful strategies gaining traction among decision-makers is the integration of Salesforce as CRM with Backoffice operations like ERP. SAP is a widely used ERP system used by many companies. By seamlessly connecting these two industry-leading platforms, organizations can unlock a plethora of benefits, ranging from improved data visibility to enhanced customer experiences. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll delve into the intricacies of Salesforce SAP integration, exploring best practices, integration methods, and actionable insights for decision-makers.
Understanding Salesforce SAP Integration:
So, picture this: Salesforce, the king of CRM, shaking hands with SAP, the heavyweight champion of ERP. Sounds like a match made in business heaven, doesn’t it? These two powerhouses, with their own unique strengths, can actually bridge those pesky gaps in your business processes, making data flow smoother than butter and fostering collaboration across all your departments.
Integration Methods for Salesforce and SAP:
Now, there are a few ways to go about this integration gig. You’ve got your point-to-point integration, Middleware, and Custom, let’s get right into them.
Point-to-Point Integration:
Point-to-point integration involves establishing direct connections between Salesforce and SAP systems using APIs (Application Programming Interfaces). While this method offers simplicity, it can become cumbersome to manage as the number of integration points grows. Moreover, SAP offers many APIs for different functions, and creating complex integration scenarios, requires many intertwined APIs to be integrated. Maintaining the custom code and adopting future changes are other challenges
Middleware Integration:
Then there’s middleware integration, like Third-party iPaaS platforms like MuleSoft, Zapier, Make, Tray.io, and many more. Think of it as the mediator between Salesforce and SAP, orchestrating data exchanges like a conductor leading a symphony. This one’s great for flexibility and scalability, letting you adapt to changing business needs without breaking a sweat.
Custom Integration:
And let’s not forget custom integration – for organizations with unique business processes or specialized requirements, custom integration solutions tailored to their specific needs. Leveraging the expertise of experienced developers and consultants, custom integrations can deliver precise outcomes aligned with business objectives.
Salesforce SAP integration Use cases:
Streamlined Sales and Order Management:
Imagine a manufacturing company that integrates Salesforce with SAP to synchronize sales data with production schedules. The outcome is transformative: sales teams gain access to real-time inventory levels within Salesforce, enabling them to provide customers with accurate delivery estimates. Orders placed in Salesforce are automatically transferred to SAP for production planning, streamlining the entire sales-to-production process. This integration not only enhances operational efficiency but also improves customer satisfaction by ensuring timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Enhanced Customer Service:
Consider a retail organization that implements Salesforce SAP Integration to empower its customer service team with comprehensive customer histories. Customer service representatives can access complete customer order histories and preferences from SAP within the Salesforce interface. This integration results in faster responses to consumer inquiries and more personalized service, significantly enhancing the customer experience. By having a 360-degree view of the customer, businesses can tailor their interactions and solutions to meet individual needs, fostering loyalty and repeat business.
Improved Financial Reporting:
A global corporation integrates financial data from SAP into Salesforce, revolutionizing its approach to financial reporting and analytics. This integration allows for real-time financial reporting within Salesforce, facilitating better forecasting and financial planning. Sales data correlate directly with financial metrics, providing a clear picture of the company’s financial health and enabling more accurate and strategic decision-making. With this level of integration, businesses can identify trends, optimize resource allocation, and drive profitability more effectively.
Benefits of SAP and Salesforce Integration:
Many businesses grapple with siloed information trapped in disconnected CRM and ERP systems – Salesforce and SAP being prime examples. This data fragmentation hinders sales cycles, frustrates customer service, and impedes strategic decision-making. But fear not, there’s a powerful solution: Salesforce SAP integration.
Imagine unlocking a world of:
Real-time inventory visibility: Empowering sales teams to provide accurate delivery estimates and streamline the sales-to-production process.
360° customer views: Enabling faster responses and personalized service, boosting customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Unified financial reporting: Accessing real-time data for accurate reporting and forecasting, driving strategic decisions and profitability.
This isn’t just wishful thinking – it’s the transformative power of Salesforce SAP integration. By seamlessly connecting these powerhouses, you unlock a treasure trove of benefits:
Enhanced Data Accuracy: Say goodbye to inconsistent information. Integration ensures real-time data synchronization across CRM and ERP systems, eliminating errors and boosting data quality.
Superior Customer Experience: Empower your customer service team with a holistic view of each customer. Access order history, preferences, and other valuable data directly in Salesforce, allowing for personalized interactions and a truly exceptional experience.
