I'm from Japan and i absolutely love your blog. I know u guyz get new chapters before us and i unfortunately know what's going to happen in the upcoming chap (thnx to spoilers). I had to say something to the non Japanese mostly western tg fandom. I really appreciate tht u guys contribute to this fandom even tho Ishida sensei lives almost opposite side of the world. But y'all please stop sending hate to sensei. The Japanese fandom is really disappointed to see this kinds of reaction (1)

Please keep it in mind that your culture and our culture r really different. There’s a certain reason we call him sensei. He’s older than most of us & works really hard to write a chap every week. In Japanese culture respecting older people is a sensitive matter. We seek their forgiveness even for slight offense. This is how we r taught from our childhood. So telling sensei to kill himself or calling him a old fuck or flushing down his work not only disrespects him but also our culture. (2)

It’s alright to be disappointed or to have different opinion but don’t send hate to sensei I’m begging u guyz. And please don’t send spoilers either. Don’t call a man’s hardwork trash just bc he didn’t do what you wanted. I wouldn’t have come anonymously if i wouldn’t have gotten lectured by western fans in twitter. I’ll say it for the final time, pls think twice before taking hateful actions bc it’s not okay. I want to say to coromoor tht you’re a really sweet person & this wasn’t ment for u(3)

Thankyou so much for sending me this- I think it’s really important to hear the perspective from a Japanese fan so we can try and understand a little better. I just want to say how sorry I am on behalf of us Western fans- I can speak for a huge majority of us here that we are all horrified and embarrassed by the reaction of some of our fandom. Sometimes I think about what kind of impression we are giving Ishida and I want to curl up in a hole out of shame o)-) 

I can’t count how many times we’ve tried to tell people to stop sending rude and offensive comments to Ishida, or to stop sending spoilers to him on Twitter so we don’t ruin the chapter for the Japanese fans. But it seems no matter how hard we try, some don’t listen or don’t care. Maybe that means we aren’t going about it the right way but I’m not sure how to get the message through. I’ve been thinking lately about asking a few Youtubers who do reviews on Tokyo Ghoul to see if they would help out and start telling people not to tweet spoilers at the start of all their videos. I’m not sure if they will accept that but some of them have quite a large audience so maybe that might spread the message. As for what the Western fandom can do ourselves, I can only say to anyone who is reading this that if you see someone sending spoilers, please try and educate them on why this is not OK. A lot of people who send spoilers are unaware that we get the chapter early and illegally, and that we’re ruining the reading experience for Japanese fans. And if you see hateful comments to Ishida, don’t bother trying to reason with them. Just report their tweet. I’ll try to work harder to stop this too.

To anonymous, please don’t worry about being offensive at all- I too am very disappointed with the Western fandom and their reaction to this. It’s gotten so bad for me that I’ve been avoiding most of the fandom and just staying with a few blogs I trust who will be positive. I respect Ishida and this story so much and it’s really upsetting to see people acting so hatefully. I can only imagine how much this must upset the Japanese fandom too. It really breaks my heart that this chapter has been spoiled for you- Touka and Kaneki are two characters who are very dear to me and I would be devastated if the same had happened to me. I hope it didn’t ruin the chapter for you and that you can still enjoy the excitement! Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts!
