ok i just want to ramble about what i want for byler kiss (and before it too) (also censoring all the other ship names just in case)
so first i want s5 to either be posted slowly, maybe by a week basis? or a vol 1 & 2 situation. i love suspense and i also want to see everyone's episode reactions instead of the whole season (also i can't binge </3)
saw a post where the op wanted the most awful tension between byler the wholeee time before the kiss and that would combine well with breaking up the episodes :) suspense and suffering <3
now byler confession? sorry i want that shit to be soft, quiet, and not at all rushed. just to really drive home how different byler and m*lven are. because mike's ily monolog? loud, ugly, awwwwwfuuulll. he only did it because he thought he needed to because she was like dying.
but my byler confession? no pressure. maybe the only pressure being "oh i want to tell will before the world possibly ends" or somethin but not because he feels like he has to y'know?
and YEAH i do want mike to confess first. but i also want it to be like obvious to will that "hey...maybe mike does return my feelings :/?" just because i love when will can read mike and also i don't want to deal with will being like completely shocked
(best ideas are like mike showing will the art binder? will seeing how much mike smiles with him/acts differently to him? mike talking about how awkward m*lven was? just! mike telling will how important he is to him)
anyways after the confession it's a soft, hesitant kiss (just wait) but oh no jonathan interrupts (sorry it would be so funny) so nothing further then.
now they're put in situations where they can't talk about it or do anything. it's obvious they're getting antsy about eachother. throwing obvious little glaces and smiles. either weirdly distant (to avoid suspension) or weirdly close (gay)
when they're finally alone? cue the fucking j*ncy/j*pper make out scene. obviously. i'm a sucker for that shit and they just need it after being apart for so long. like don't even talk before hand they're so impatient (been waiting YEARS anyways)
maybe afterwards or between these points you could shove in a little lettergate or will explaining the painting or whatever whatever. just hngg. needed to babble nonsense about it. so excited for s5 <3<3

— felix and sage waking up from a nightmare
gn!reader | **srsly not proofread btw. bonjour. sorry this was supposed to be an M4 post but i am um. giggles. sorry x2 i am too tired to get the taglist rn (will comment/rb later maybe) but also this post is nothing too special liek. u've seen this before! u know their fears,, don't be silly! just here to say Heyyyy im alive 😘
felix
this might come as a shock but felix isn't just an acquaintance with dreams about losing the person he loves. he hasn't had one in a while, so you can imagine the confusion/shock from both of you when he wakes up with your hands on his shoulders gently shaking him
he takes a minute to process his surroundings and what's going on. when you explain what happened he gets a remorseful look
"ah...i'm sorry for waking you. i'm alright now." you can tell he's lying when his smile is forced and his eyes are shifting around the room, his fingers playing with the blanket.
"you can talk to me, you know. no pressure, of course, but if something's bothering you then i'd like to help." you don't pry much, knowing that felix heard you and wanting to give him time
"do you ever wonder if there's someone better fit for you?" "not even once." the confidence and speed of your answer takes felix by surprise, and he stares at you with widened eyes.
he can't figure out what to say before you continue, "i don't think anyone's perfect for someone—a lot of love is time and working together, felix. not a hypothetical, romanticized ideal."
"and i love being with you. i love practising and learning together, figuring out new spells or dinner recipes—" felix lets out a small laugh at that, remembering the absolute disaster that happened only a couple nights ago. you only smile back, "i love rambling about our interests, seeing you get excited about a new book you found. i love you, felix. i'll remind you as many times as you want."
felix has a small smile on his lips as he looks at you, and he thinks he really, truly is the luckiest person in the world
his voice is soft but genuine when he speaks, "thank you, love." he sighs and frowns at the window, "it would be best for us to sleep now, the others will have our heads if we aren't up and ready in the morning."
you're both a little groggy when the others see you, but you can tell that the little conversation helped and you considered that more important
sage
sage's nightmare would be very similar to felix's: centered around the fear of you leaving him (again) or failing to save you. there's a mission coming up (we defeated the LoS and sage is Fine. idc. move) and every so often his brain can't help but think of the worst case scenario
he's likely to get up from bed and take a walk — maybe just taking a lap around where you're staying, or standing outside for some fresh air
his ears twitch when he hears you quietly walk up from behind him
"are you sure you want to go on the mission?" the question comes as a bit of a shock but you still manage to answer, "we've done more dangerous ones, you know." "you could still get hurt, though."
it isn't hard to read between the lines that sage is much more worried than you just getting injured. sometimes he needs a reminder that he's allowed to be worried/honest
"i'll be careful. plus i have you and the others, right? we're a team."
there's a frown on his face, and you don't have to reach out to know he's tense. he's quick on his feet and smart, you now that. but you also know that his mind gets foggy and overwhelmed at times like this
your voice is soft when you speak, "nothing will happen to me, sage. and if i do get hurt, i'll heal up and recover just like always."
"but—" "danger and 'what if's' are part of our job description, sage." he knows that better than anyone, and you know that. "i'm scared something will happen to you, too. but i trust you—i believe in you. in us."
by the time you're close enough to lay against him and reach for his hand, sage has let out a deep breath and relaxed a little. he lays his head against yours and continues to look out. "alright."
"but if anything happens—" "i'll step back and find you or one of the others. i do actually have some experience with this stuff, y'know." your sarcastic but lighthearted comment gets an eye roll in response, but you both know it's your way of reassuring him while trying to take some pressure off
please gently bring him back to bed and play with his hair . this is a necessary step . he's still a little tense in the morning when it hits him again, but taking his hand in yours is enough for a while

Wondering about how to find beta readers? Especially finding those who would understand what your writing. The previous question you answered was SO INCREDIBLY HELPFUL LIKE OIGHSODPIHGDL K - Especially about how to respond and work with beta reader feedback.
because my family had been my previous 'beta readers' which... the 'best' time was when I got into a huge slump and hated my comfort writing because my parents said my MC was too 'overdramtic' when I was just... describing and trying to process feelings that I've felt before with characters? It did not feel nice whatsoever and sent me spiraling. Another time I got kicked out of the house for the day for not wanting my NON-HUMAN characters to be gendered... but I digress.
Which brings me to my next question, how would I find people (preferably online) who can give me feedback and beta read? It's been difficult to find people IRL who are as excited/understand what I'm trying to write with my plant fairy escapism comfort.
Thanks for answering my questions! It means a lot to me. :)
this is, alas, a tricky question, because...guess where I used to meet beta readers? if you answered "Twitter," you are correct! and that's obviously considerably less viable than it once was (and less viable every day).
with that in mind: if anyone else reads this and has suggestions for similar events/hashtags/ways of connecting on other platforms (including Tumblr), please rb or comment!
at any rate, in general social media can be helpful for finding betas because there are often hashtags to use when you're looking for readers. sometimes there are even specific events to help writers connect with each other for critique purposes! again I'm unfortunately most familiar with this on Twitter, but for example there's been an event there called like CPmatch or something like that where folks would pitch their books and then interested people would comment like "wow yes I'd love to read this!"
personally most of my virtual beta readers are friends I met online just by talking about my books and learning about their books! while several of us are agented and/or published now, we all started in the same place: writers finishing up projects and hoping for good luck in the query trenches. so we'd all just shout excitedly about our books on Twitter, and that's how we found each other.
(hashtag events for writers - weekly, semi-weekly, or monthly events at a set time where the host asks questions/provides prompts and writers answer them and comment on others' answers. I'm sure they exist somewhere other than Twitter, but that's the only place I've seen them. not to be a broken record lol but I fear my knowledge about connecting with people online is more useless day by day because of the incompetent grapefruit now destroying my favorite platform.)
anyway, sometimes you'll be more excited about someone's book than they are about yours or vice-versa, but overall being genuinely interested in other writers' work and making friends with them over your shared interest is the best way to find future virtual betas, particularly betas who will understand what your books are trying to do (as opposed to what you described coming from your family).
and I know you said "preferably online," but just in case you ever have interest in in-person meet-ups: depending on your location, you may have a home region on NaNoWriMo (dot) Org, the official site for National Novel Writing Month. (I think I mentioned that in my last post, but if you're like "what the hell is that," lmk and I'll explain.) various regions may have in-person events in November, which is a great way to meet people irl!
(actually, speaking of NaNoWriMo, it's a great time to meet other writers virtually, too! use the tags "NaNo," "NaNoWriMo," or "National Novel Writing Month" to declare your participation and find other writers who are also doing it. the official site also allows group chats - I think there's a maximum of 20 people per chat - and don't quote me but I think you can request to be sorted randomly into one in case you don't already know anyone there.)
additionally, try googling writing groups in your area. there may not be any (and I have zero tips on how to start one, as I am much happier joining an existing group), but it's worth taking a look. in my area, we have an unofficial NaNoWriMo group that chats throughout the year on Discord (so online even though we're also close enough to see each other in person!), plus a weekly critique group that meets up at a Panera to share feedback, plus a weekly writing group that meets up at a local coffee shop to chat and get some writing done! even if your area doesn't have a critique-specific group, you can meet other writers in your area if that's something you're comfortable with and able to do.
(of course you should always meet people in a public place until and unless you get to know them well enough to feel comfortable meeting them somewhere private.)
I feel like this was basically no help at all because all my virtual meeting-other-writers experience came from Twitter, but:
tl;dr
use hashtags to indicate that you're looking for beta readers (don't ask me which hashtags; I've never personally done it this way)
join hashtag and beta-matching events on social media to meet people
connect with other writers on social media by shouting excitedly about your projects and theirs
if you participate in NaNoWriMo, meet people using relevant hashtags or on the NaNoWriMo website
to meet other writers in person, google writing groups in your area or check your NaNoWriMo home region to see if a group is active near you

✤ hi hello! my mini passion projects, ancient names + witching hour, have reached 4.9k+ hits cumulatively, and that shit is straight-up bananas nuts to me. i am so so grateful that folks want to be out here reading my content, and more than that, i am so so grateful that i get to ingest content from other incredibly talented writers, who make me a better writer by proximity alone (nevermind their graciousness and kindness in giving me feedback, helping me talk through plot holes, and just all in all being wonderful folks). so! as a way to say thanks, i wanted to gather them all here, so that i can express my admiration and maybe give folks the chance to see their work!
✤ these are listed in no particular order! you will look up these works (ye mighty, and despair). keep in mind this is by no means a comprehensive list and i plan on continuously adding as i go with content creators that i enjoy!
— fearful symmetry by @starcrier; john wick x oc slow burn, SLOOOOW burn, like the most delicious suffering of a slow burn i have ever had the pleasure to experience. star is immensely talented at flushing out ocs and making them feel like they belong in the world and have always belonged there, and we love to see wick with someone who can tell him to go to hell without blinking : ^ )
— pomegranate by @vasiktomis: another slow burn of the delicious variety! if you're like me (and if you're reading this, you probably are) there is nothing sexier than two people arguing for years and then realizing that they actually want to smash each other (unfortunately) (derogatory) (affectionate). yes all of those tags apply. no i will not elaborate. read it and experience the rollercoaster!
— death and the maiden by @shallow-gravy: we've got OBSESSIVE JOHN SEED, we've got TRUCKS BLOWIN UP, we've got FOLKS DOIN HARD DRUGS AND THEN GOING ON A MURDER RAMPAGE, we've got THREE IDIOTS TRY AND DRIVE A TRUCK WITH ONLY ONE BRAINCELL BETWEEN THEM. these are just a few of the many tantalizing features you (yes: you!) might be able to experience in this gorgeous fic! not to mention jess has an incredible handle on character voices!
— searching for hope by @lilwritingraven: drama! drama abound! there's like not a single chapter of this that doesn't have me going 👀👀👀 the WHOLE time. it's perfectly paced with some emotional moments too, really sucks you in to what's happening in the story and you will be shipping the main oc with more than one person (if you have good taste like meeeeeee anyway)! ♡♡
— wildfire by @adelaidedrubman: john seed gets his ass verbally handed to him literally nonstop. you would think this would be enough to make you want to read this (it is) but there's also an incredibly compelling female lead and a cast of gorgeous ocs that are going to flush out an already eclectic group from the canon setting that makes this one of my absolute faves!!!!
— the lamb of god by @romach: JOEY HUDSON X OC. DO I NEED TO SAY ANYTHING ELSE. (yes) but seriously there is such a significant deficit of hudson x oc content out there in the world and izzie serves it!!! it's in the early stages still but i'm so interested to see where their story with georgia goes ♡
— stillness in woe by @scungilliwoman: another john seed x oc fic, BUT i have to say i love seeing content out there in the far cry 5 fandom that isn't limited to the deputy x canon character. amanda is not just a sweetheart as a person but does a great job setting the scene and really pulling you into her work when you're ready!
and hell followed with him by @chazz-anova: i have a type. and that type is blondes who kick ass. sorry to this man (john seed) but i am rooting for veronica to put his ass in the dirt the entire time and i think that's a pretty good hallmark of a good story!! i typically have a hard time with fics that follow events of the game quite closely, but reading this really just feels like getting immersed in the world and experiencing all the little details of it, and it's also one of those that's still in early chapters!

talking with old friends is so chaotic sometimes. you know, you have to catch them up with your identity crises, your new mental disorders, and your gossip, and then you can comment about current topics.

today, my mom made me call to get a hair appointment and it was exponentially easier than my brain made me think it would be so if anyone’s procrastinating calling someone or someplace, i promise, it’ll be much easier to get it over with.
