Time to talk about the flower shirt

You read the title. Time to talk about this.

This is the infamous flower shirt Thomas put on in his store and, since the fandom is the fandom, everyone started to speculate about those flowers.

At first, I didn’t want to do it. They’re just flowers and other people already talked about them, so what could I possibly add to the conversation?

But while I was writing about Orange, I had to talk a moment about the orange flower. It was supposed to be a small parenthesis, just a couple of words about that.

But then I looked at the other flowers and what other people told/not told about them and how some didn’t find Patton’s flower... so here I am, adding my two cents to this theme.

You needed it? Probably not. Well, I’m writing it anyway.

So let’s take a closer look at those flowers and see each one in detail:

Roman: Red rose

Should I really explain why it’s perfect for Roman? Red roses are the universal symbol of love. Basically in all cultures red roses symbolize passion, true love, romance and desire. Also, according to this website, even the shade has a meaning! In fact, the deeper the red shade is, the stronger is the passion.

And even the number of red roses has a meaning! In this case, we have only one single red rose and that "represents love at first sight, or if it’s coming from a long-term partner, they are saying “you are still the one”.”

You know what that made me think? About Thomas telling Roman “You’re my hero”. A perfect symbol that he was “still the one” for Thomas.

Orange: Lantana camara

This is an incredibly peculiar flower.

Lantana Camara symbolizes severity and rigour. And this alone can be analyzed in all possible ways, but there are other interesting details about this plant I think it's worth mentioning.

Lantana is toxic for livestock, such as cattle, sheep, horses, dogs and goats. According to Wikipedia, previous studies suggested it could be toxic for humans too, especially the green unripe berries. However "other studies have found evidence which suggests that its fruit poses no risk to humans".

Lantana is a freaking invasive plant. In some areas, it's so predominant, to reduce biodiversity, because its presence "can significantly slow down the regeneration of forests, by preventing the growth of new trees". Also, as if this isn't enough, this plant can also produce toxic chemicals which inhibit other plant species.

Lantana has also a great adaptability, that helped it to be so invasive: it can live in a wide range of different environmental conditions, it can survive long periods without water, heck it's even resistant to fire. It's not a plant you can underestimate. Like Orange, I assume.

But Lantana isn't just an invasive plant. Lantana has always been used for medical purposes, because it showed good antimicrobial, fungicidal and insecticidal properties and its extract helps against respiratory infections and ulcers.

Also, since it doesn't have many pests or diseases, lantana became a common ornamental plant. It even attracts butterflies!

In other words: isn't that the perfect plant to symbolize the double nature of a dark side? It can be a threat, change the environment, destroy and even kill. But it can also be a medicine, something useful, something beautiful.

Whoever Orange is, Lantana camara tells us that, whithout a doubt, he’s a dark side.

Janus: Sunflower

Do you think Janus isn't perfect enough as he is? Do you think there's not enough husband material in the snek?

Well, you’re wrong and the sunflower is here to prove it.

Sunflower symbolizes loyalty, adoration, longevity, vitality, worship. Now add this up to the sunflower’s behaviour and how it follows the sun... and you’ll get Janus. Janus literally acts like a sunflower: Thomas is his sun and everything Janus does is for him. His whole existence is centered around Thomas.

But we already knew that, because it's the same message that shone through his playlist. Everything about Janus tells us how much he adores Thomas, from his canonical behavior in the series, to his playlist, to this flower.

Oh, do you need another proof that this is flower is perfect for Janus? Some societies use sunflowers as religious symbols. Ah, some good ol' reference to religion: it’s like being in his playlist all over again.

And, of course, sunflowers are used for a variety of reasons, like cooking oils, skin care and so on. Even the flower says self care.

This man is perfect.

Remus: Green chrysanthemum

Here's another interesting flower.

Chrysanthemum symbolizes death and it’s the typical flower used for funerals. And I thought this was its universal meaning. It was perfect for Remus just like that.

But then I found out that Europeans use chrysanthemums for funerals and to honor the dead. This flower actually has a whole lot of meanings, some completely different from this.

In China, for example, chrysanthemums are associated with wealth, prosperity and long life. Also they're symbols of new life and reincarnations, so they're the perfect gift for old people or newborns.

While in Japan chrysanthemums are symbols of power and royalty. And that's even more fitting for Remus, because he's a Duke, so he is royalty.

But chrysanthemum also symbolizes friendship - and not just "a friendship", but a meaningful one. It's a symbol of loyalty, devotion, romantic/platonic love and, in general, positive energy. It's a flower with an incredibly strong meaning, so it can't be given too lightly.

And this makes it even more perfect for Remus. It's a flower with a huge plurality of meanings, it's both associated with life and death, it's powerful and it's royalty.

Also, you can eat it. Isn't that the perfect Remus flower?

(On a side note: please notice how chrysanthemums and sunflowers are both associated with joy, loyalty and devotion. I would have never considered "joy" a common trait between Janus and Remus while loyalty and devotion... well, they both care about Thomas and his career and they both work for him despite not being accepted, so I can see why those are common traits.)

Patton: Nemophila

Surprise surprise, this flower wasn't easy to find. I’ve never heard of it, so I had to search among endless lists of blue flowers, hoping to find one that would perfectly match the one on the shirt.

And that’s how I found nemophila.

First of all: nemophila is also known as "Baby Blue Eyes" and it's an extremely rare color to find in nature. It’s very famous in Japan, thanks to the Hitachi Seaside Park. Open this link: it’s a literal sea of blue and it’s absolutely gorgeous. Of course, it attracts people every year.

Nemophila represents prosperity, congratulations on success and victory. Not the first things you would associate with Patton, right?

Well, while I was searching more informations about this flower, I found out this website about the essence of Baby Blue Eyes and the passage I quoted down below has the exact same words you can find on that link:

With its pronounced affinity for water, the Baby Blue Eyes flower essences addresses qualities of tender sensitivity, innocence and trust associated one’s early childhood relationship to the father, or other significant masculine figures that are in some way disturbed.

Very often the father was absent, or there was a lack of support or genuine presence. The Baby Blue Eyes type attempts over time to cover this wound of vulnerability with a false “hardening,” such as emotional distancing, mistrust, cynicism or spiritual alienation. It is a flower that can be equally helpful for men or women, although it is especially needed for many men who struggle to become strong, by disowning their pain.

So nemophilia’s essence has qualities associated with childhood, to the father figure and attempts to “repress” and hide emotions.

That’s Patton. That’s him, period. The childhood-related emotions, that are linked to Patton’s longing for “a simpler time”. The mentions of a father figure - who migh be absent or showing lack of support (like, idk, suggesting you should die so your friends live?). And the attempt to “cover the vulnerability” doesn’t remind you anything? Like the Nostalgia episodes?

This flower is Patton.

Logan: Blue petunia

I would like to say, from the bottom of my heart, a huge "FUCK YOU" to this flower, because I spent TWO DAYS searching all the blue flowers in the world and all possible variants, asking myself why this goddamn flower looked so familiar and why it was so hard to find. Blue isn't even a common color in nature, so why couldn't I find it?

I've learned more about blue flowers in these two days than in my entire life. I've searched among flowers I never saw before, like glandora diffusa, leschenaultia and omphalodes verna. I was so desperate to consider this flower a new species, with the petals of a bellflower and the corolla of a morning glory. I even found a goddamn chinese variant of the morning glory that was somehow similar but not that much and why, WHY this was so hard to find?!

And then, after two days and a lot more desperation, I remembered: my dear friend @reptilianwithscallions told me about a post they made, regarding this shirt and the flowers. Maybe they had some idea about Logan's flower?

Well, let's all thank my saviour and this post, because otherwise I would've kept searching until the end of my days.

Long story short, Logan's flower is a fucking blue petunia.

And it's a very peculiar choice, because petunias have multiple meanings, several of which can be contradictory.

In general, petunia symbolizes anger and resentment. It reminds someone that you're still angry or disappointed by their actions and you haven’t gotten over the things that caused these feelings.

Oh my, I didn't know we were back in Logan's playlist. It's basically what he kept expressing towards Thomas with his songs: that he was angry at Thomas for his decision, that he doesn't approve that Thomas hasn't "a real job" and so on. Petunia is a flower that screams passive-aggressive, so it's perfect for Logan.

But petunia's meaning deeply changes, depending on the color of the flower. And while petunia in general symbolizes anger, a blue petunia is a symbol of peacefulness, intimacy and deep trust, shared between two or more people. It's so wholesome, because the deep trust reminds me - again - of Logan's playlist and how it ended: no matter what, he and Thomas are always best friends.

Also, petunia flowers have even a secret meaning behind. Since they’re also gifted to new neighbors or to people who have just moved into a new home, they represent a perfect welcome and a way to express affection and kindness to others.

You’re lucky to be so wholesome, you tricky flower.

Virgil: Perennial Geranium

Geranium is a confused flower.

Some of the other flowers have conflicted meanings, but not as much as this flower. These are the most common meanings I found:

Folly or Stupidity

Gentility and kind nature

Clever minds

Ingenuity

Melancholy

Perfect gift for a bride

You can gift it to someone with whom you have planned a meeting

You can gift it to someone with whom you haven't planned a meeting, just to make them feel welcomed

True Friendship

See? It’s confused.

Aside from jokes, this variety of meanings is due to its great diffusion: since geraniums grow everywhere, every culture gave them a different meaning. And sometimes these meanings depend on the situation too.

Awww, isn't it perfect for Virgil? He can be good and bad at the same time. Anxiety can be bad for Thomas and detrimental for his life, but it can also be the alarm Thomas needs. It depends on the situation.

And, just like geraniums in general symbolize positive emotions, happiness and friendship, so Virgil is in general a good guy. All he does is for Thomas' wellbeing, not against him.

And this is confirmed by the vast use of geranium's essential oil. It's one of the most popular and it has a ton of properties: anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, decongestant, relaxing and so on. Just like our Virge boy can be incredibly useful under the right circumstances. (Did someone say "Flirting with social Anxiety"?)

Also, geraniums are simple, humble flowers that usually grow outside, but then we take them and make them part of our homes. Once again, it’s Virgil: he's an outsider, he's humble, he talks bad about himself - but Thomas and the others took him and made him part of the famILY anyway.

Thomas: Cherry blossom

I searched this flower everywhere and the only one that looks like the one on the shirt is the cherry blossom. Why did Thomas make a cherry blossom with eight petals, when they all have five? I have no idea. Is this a different flower, maybe? Maybe, but I’m done: I've looked at enough flowers and I don’t have any strength left.

As you probably already know, cherry blossoms are extremely important in Japan. They're beautiful, they're everywhere and they're meaningful.

Why? Because cherry blossoms are considered the perfect metaphor for human existence. When they blossom it's a pink ocean, a party, people go to admire them - but they’re short lived, because in two weeks, the blossoms start to fall. It's just like human life: a small, rich, glorious parenthesis in the void. Something little and precious that ends soon.

But cherry blossoms also symbolize rebirth, optimism, hopes and dreams. When they bloom, it means springtime is coming and spring has always been associated with renewal.

That’s a very good choice for character Thomas. He’s basically a cherry blossom, the whole series is: something that reminds us how beautiful life is, how multi-faceted, how important. Just like Thomas' single being encompasses seven different sides of himself, so life presents a wide range of choices, of aspects, of flavours. All beautiful, all worthy of appreciation, no matter how different they can be from you and your experience.

And this becomes even more important, in relation to the passage of time and the transience of life. Because life is short and, after that, there won't be any more time to appreciate anything.

In addition to that, I would like to point out how the theme of passage of time is something we already saw in the series. And not just one time, but several. Since the first season, we have episodes all around the concept of growing up, growing old, not being a child anymore, becoming an adult. And the last Aside keeps going in this direction. It's clear this is a big theme and its connection with the cherry blossoms proves it.

But why is the flower so different on the shirt? Because Thomas wanted to mess up with us? Probably. Almost certainly. Once again, thank you Mr. Sanders for making me question everything.

i barely have a singular ship the entire ship is well. a ship. theyre all dating each other the entire ship is polyamorous. my fave dynamics so far tho r; bones & spock obviously they r so funny. scotty & kirk i dont think any other combo on the enterprise is more enabling of each others specific brand of bullshit. uhura & everyone she is their BABYGIRL she is the most important person on that ship n everyone loves her as they should. the second favourite babygirl after the enterprise itself. scotty is the third fave btww. pavel & chekov they are like. daforge before there was daforge n kirk n that one klingon captain in the tribbles ep. why were they like that.

I've gotta admit I'm a little lost on what the goal of the lead party is after they split at the first cairn, but I always get a little lost on stuff like that

I have Thoughts about the dynamic between Crozier, Franklin, and James Fitzjames at the mo but idk if they have any coherence. specifically like, Fitzjames + Franklin vs Crozier. I think the crux of it is a fundamental difference in priorities and how to behave while on an expedition like this? but idk idk!! they’re v interesting.

like Franklin seems v caring about his men, and almost childlike in his excitement for adventuring? while Crozier seems way more pragmatic, and also aware of his station both as an officer and an Irishman. and obvi Fitzjames is wholly on Franklin's side - i assumed a case of cozying up to superiors at first, but he also seems genuinely fond of/looks up to Franklin. I assume there's some backstory stuff going on here as well, that neither me the audience nor Fitzjames is aware of yet, just based on the earlier scene where Crozier firmly established that he works for Franklin but they’re not friends.

hey, bro! i read u listing elements that could have been better developed in 2gether and started thinking about it. when it comes to conflicts, i'd like to see couples going through different experiences and dealing w/ them. we all know the love triangle trope - honestly this is extremely tiring for me - and i feel like having a third party is not always the best way to face problems and show a relationship development. +

in 2gether for instance, wtf is mil doing? at this point, what's his contribution to the story? i feel like instead of this weird crush on tine, he could be living his life and facing different obstacles. anything really. maybe explore why he hates sarawat and how he deals being close to wat's bro, idk. when it comes to sarawatine, we know that tine is insecure, so why not explore it in a more subjective way, getting to know the roots of this insecurity? +

i see how having a third party can bring this subject to light, but will the problem be solved after the other person disappears? there are many things that might make tine insecure and it would honestly be amazing to see him facing different situations and slowly overcome his insecurity issues. that would involve conflict, drama, fights, etc. and would be kinda refreshing to see (instead of jealousy then "oh ok that person is not going to tear us apart so everything is fine now"). +

i also agree that it would feel amazing to see them saying the words bi and gay, but i guess i am happy with the fact that we don't have to be constantly listening to ppl say "wife/husband" as if they weren't two men. i am happy the show explores friendship, tho i also think we could see more about their family relationships. if we are going to watch the characters' development, why not get to know more about them as individuals (someone's brother and son and friend), right? +

and holy shit, the way women are treated needs to seriously change! gmm loves to portray women as crazy beings about guys (yea TOL this also applies to u), which is disrespectful to say the least. the fact it's a mlm doesn't mean it's ok to pretend women don't need personalities or a more well-written role. i hope this will change in the future. and that we'll also get wlw from these great companies. i ended up talking to much. i hope i made sense. as always, thx for your insight! -- emo sis

hi hi! ah i absolutely agree with all of your points, like one of my biggest pet peeves is the need for a third party to jumpstart growth in a relationship. this isn’t all too prevalent in 2gether, but mil’s character just really pisses me off? not he himself, but the way he’s been written. like you said, he could have had his own storyline and progressed in his relationship with phukong wonderfully. there comes a point for every antagonist where you can’t redeem them anymore, and mil is hurtling towards that point of no return. and i really don’t want him to! he was a good source of conflict initially but his character feels flat now. like why does he hate sarawat? is there any ulterior motive or reason to his crush on tine? how does he feel about phukong being sarawat’s brother? why did he get a bit choked up telling phukong that he likes him... like a brother? his character could have been super multifaceted and three-dimensional and a good example of someone who makes mistakes (ie hitting on tine even when he has a boyfriend and doesn’t want to be hit on) but apologises for them (we could have had a great apology scene in ep 10!). but he just keeps pushing! and it makes me so sad because we could have had a TOL style storyline between mil and phukong where mil redeems himself and proves to phukong he’s worthy of his love, y’know? because right now i’m kind of like :/ about their relationship. phukong deserves better.

god, yeah! tine’s insecurities hit so hard on my rewatch of ep 10. i see so much of myself in him--he’s in his first proper relationship and he’s scared he’s gonna mess everything up and all of these objectively minor things keep happening and he’s so frightened that sarawat will feel it isn’t worth it that he sneaks out to right the lil spirit house thing. how many times did he apologise this episode? too many. i feel the scene where he asks if sarawat really thinks they’ll be together in 10 years exposed how much tine truly feels that he’s not enough and not worth it. he tries to keep up the chic chic demeanor and while he’s soft with sarawat and shows him all parts of him, he’s scared that sarawat... won’t want him anymore. tine and the mortifying ordeal of being known... it hits so close to home and god i wish they would explore that in a way that doesn’t have to do with other people! i hope this will be touched on a bit more next episode with pam’s entrance but how much of that is gonna hang off pam? that’s the real question.

yeah i’m happy that they don’t use the wife/husband thing too much. the bar is underground, but... well, you know. and yes! the friendships are done so so well in 2gether and i really do wish we could get to see more of tine and his friends. familial relationships would be such a wonderful added bonus to this show, especially considering that tine and sarawat’s brothers are also part of side romance storylines. tine and type are amazing and i adore their relationship. as an older sibling, i see so much of myself in type, like we’ve known our younger siblings all our lives, know all their insecurities and exactly how they could be hurt, and that’s why we protect them with all our lives, y’know? i would love to see more of sarawat and phukong and wat as an older brother! i think wat being the older brother is something really interesting? and i wish they would explore more of his relationship to phukong and being his p’.

i could go on about the treatment of women in 2gether and gmmtv in general. honestly there are very few times they’ve done women right (he’s coming to me was a good one!) and i wish they wouldn’t portray women as part of fanclubs and as fetishisers. i would love to see more earn and pear, obviously, as tine and sarawat’s friends and people they’re close to! it would make sense to see more of them, especially considering the fact that earn had that wack catfishing subplot with man. i’d have loved to seen an actual apology from him for that one as well. and air! air could have been featured heavily in ep 10 and i’m slightly bitter they didn’t actually, i mean she’s a huge part of the music club and it was a music club trip. i really hope that they do pam right and establish her as a character and not a plot device, if they do that right, then i’ll be satisfied. and yeah, i would love a wlw series from gmmtv. there are so many brilliant actresses who would take on those roles and execute them wonderfully! hopefully they listen to our prayers and see how many people would actually watch a wlw series and deliver soon.

An unpopular opinion: I don’t think the show did a proper job at explaining why Johnston and Eric held such a negative opinion of Jake at the start of the show. I got that Jake was basically the town’s ‘bad boy’ back in the day, but... they way they acted towards him when he came back into town seemed a bit mean spirited to me

Mad Beauty-

When I started shipping them: Hard to pinpoint the exact date. It started off when I saw a post mentioning the pairing, and I was intrigued by the concept. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I liked it. Before I knew it, I was Mad Beauty trash

My thoughts: I just think they make the most sense. All things considered, Jefferson and Belle probably suffered the most during the course of the Dark Curse that created Storybrooke. Jefferson was forced to spend nearly three decades watching his beloved daughter from afar, knowing he couldn’t approach her because she didn’t remember him. Not to mention how he was the only one in town who remembered the truth but knew he couldn’t tell anyone on account of how nobody would believe him. As for Belle, she spent all that time confined in her cell in the psychiatric ward, where her only human contact were the orderlies who brought her food and whatnot. She never received any visitors during that time and I doubt the orderlies bothered striking up a conversation with her. To top it off, if her behavior when she was forced over the town line were any indication, she probably had absolutely no memories, either real or faked, to revisit while in confinement. While the show never addressed it, I firmly believe that Belle was probably in serious need of therapy when the curse broke. Apart from that, there’s the fact that Belle was a young woman who clearly craved adventure and wanted to see the world. Jefferson, who had spent quite a few years as a portal jumper with the use of his magic hat, has most likely visited more realms in the multiverse than anyone else in the show. So he’d be perfectly suited to be Belle’s personal guide to each and every one of those realms, giving her the world tour she’d always yearned for. And then there’s Grace. I think we all can agree that Grace is Jefferson’s top priority. Can you imagine how much Jefferson would love to see Belle and Grace interact and bond? Because it’s obvious they would. Especially since they both know what it’s like to lose their mother through tragic circumstances. Plus, both Jefferson and Belle are characters with a strong association with tea. I cannot erase the mental image of all three of them sitting down to a tea party.

What makes me happy about them: That I can write about them. Writing for this paring is almost as fun as writing about Captain Swan, my top OTP

What makes me sad about them: That this particular ship is so uncommon. It’s rare to find another Mad Beauty shipper. That and the fact that it will never be canon

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Well, there are very few Mad Beauty fics out there, so I suppose the lack of them counts as an annoyance. Especially since most of the available ones seem more about Rumbelle, based on the fic summaries

Things I look for in fanfic: For it to actually exist (lol)

My wishlist: Don’t think I have one

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Not sure with Jefferson, since we hardly saw him interacting with anyone in canon, but Belle is my multi-ship. I’d be happy to see her with anyone who deserves her, really (Including Gold, as long as he actually got his act together first and quit being such a manipulative a-hole)

My happily ever after for them: Ah, but that would be a major spoiler for the fifth and final installment of my canon divergence series, wouldn’t it?

Thor-

How I feel about this character: Overall, I like him. While I wouldn’t say he’s my favorite character, I’ve always enjoyed his presence. He just strikes me as someone who’d be a lot of fun to be around

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Jane Foster. And maybe Lady Sif as a ‘we dated as kids/teenagers but then broke up amicably’ kind of deal

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Loki and/or Valkyrie

My unpopular opinion about this character: His intelligence seemed to be a bit inconsistent at times. (Really, he knows about emails, but doesn’t know you need a computer to access them?) It’s a bit frustrating, because he is clearly an intelligent man

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: That he hadn’t broken up with Jane. Whose bright idea was that?

Favorite friendship for this character: It’s a toss-up between Steve and Darcy Lewis

My crossover ship: Does paring him with Ororo Munro/Storm count as a crossover? I mean, they’ve both technically Marvel characters, but so far, the X-Men aren’t a thing in the MCU

Weird Headcanons for my Boys

Regulus Black

took piano and/or art classes growing up

loves to braid his friend’s hair. Rodolphus prefers a braid that leads into a bun. Rabastan will accept any braid but usually gets a classic french braid. Lucius will only allow him to braid his hair if he does a fishbone braid.

He’s definitely a Capricorn

has had a crush on Rodolphus forEVER, although some of the reason he likes Rodolphus so much is because Rodolphus is basically a Slytherin, pureblood supremacist version of Sirius. Rodolphus is (in Reg’s mind) who Sirius could have been. Rodolphus is the wildest someone could get and still follow aristocratic society

He’s got a reputation that he keeps so clean that it fucking hurts, which means that he misses out on kid stuff a lot because he’s too busy thinking about estate affairs and dining etiquette. His friends are the only thing that bring out the kid in him.

I think most of these stupid boys actually have a part of muggle culture that is their guilty pleasure. His is definitely the books. He LOVES classic literature and he will slip muggle books into wizard book covers so his mother doesn’t know.

He’s actually a major romantic but being logical is regarded as more important on his list of things he needs to be which is why he’s not out there courting anybody.

this boy treasured Slug Club and duelling club and Slytherin quidditch practice and any activity where he got to be with his friends more than anything in the world (because his parents sucked and expected him to be everything Sirius refused to be because now they “only had one son” and it was a lot of pressure and anyone Regulus is my favorite character in history every of characters so yeah there’s that).

Rabastan Lestrange

serious cryptid and loves all mythical creatures. His favorite class is Care of Magical Creatures, and he believes in all things out there and he wants to meet and study all of them

he’s very particular about who he befriends, because humans don’t have predictable behavior like most animals/cryptids

He’s asexual and aromantic. He’s only into platonic friendships, and then only barely.

He and Regulus are best friends and have a strong bond of brothers, similar the bond between Marauders. I would almost say platonic soulmates. Regulus is the only one who can understand his deep love of creatures that are “below” them, but more than that, they just understand each other on a fundamental level

both he and Rodolphus have long, curly wild hair, super thick and too wild to tame. I’m talking like viking ass huge hair.

He’s one of those strong-and-silent, animals-not-people type. I imagine he talked to people the same way April Ludgate does in Parks and Rec. He tries to scare them on purpose and never says anything genuinely unless he’s talking about how much he loves creatures more than humans. He’s a Creepy Boi (TM)

Rodolphus Lestrange

plays guitar like it ain’t no thing. Now here’s Wonderwall (Maybe not Wonderwall but you better believe his muggle guilty pleasure was their music. He was a part of the rock scene going on in England back in the day)

rocks the perfect man bun. I cannot picture him without a man bun, he has one I swear to god.

He is arranged to be married with Bellatrix, not by choice. Most marriages are because there is not a whole lot of purebloods left. He, like Bellatrix, feels nothing for his fiance, although he does care about her and her family.

Sometimes I hc that he and Regulus are a thing, like done behind Bellatrix’s back that throws her into an insane rage. However, ultimately I don’t think that would be Regulus or Rodolphus’s style. Regulus cares too much about his image, and Rodolphus isn’t much of a romantic. I would probably say more likely he flirts with Regulus like he flirts with everyone else, leading Regulus to have a huge crush on him.

Favorite class? Honestly it’s divination, although he doesn’t really tell anyone. Not because he’s embarrassed, but he’s just very subtle about the things he likes; he’s not gonna geek out about it but he’ll be like “ah, shit, that’s cool.” He’s an Aquarius, btw

Lucius Malfoy

his marriage with Narcissa is an arrange marriage but they are romantic soulmates. If it hadn’t been arranged, Lucius would have proposed on his own. Lucius, although seen as strong, is actually very weak while Narcissa is assumed to be weak when in fact she is very strong. This dynamic works very well for them.

He won’t admit it to anyone but he’s an exquisite dancer and he loves it. He knows every step to every formal dance, and couldn’t step on someone else’s foot if he tried.

He’s a fucking Virgo

Charms and Potions are the subjects he’s very good at, although I wouldn’t say he really liked them. He liked being good at them and showing off, but he didn’t dislike or like either. He was probably in the Slug Club (IDK if he really was but he seems like someone Slughorn would loooooove)

He’s surprisingly good at knowing the value of most objects. He’s like a wizarding Pawn Shops guru. He’s very tricky about buying things cheap and selling them high. He honestly would have done muggle pawn shopping too except he (like all the boys) were grossed out and vaguely scared of muggles.

Barty Crouch Jr.

has a crush on Regulus because of their similar backstories: raised by authoritarian pureblooded families with high places in wizard society, the Crouch family because of his father’s government position and the Blacks due to old money

A Scorpio, for sure, like for sure for sure

He, Evan Rosier, and Antonin Dolohov are basically the Three Stooges of the groups. They are always seen bickering and insulting and teasing each other. The shenanigans they get themselves into his hilarious. Rosier knew Barty Crouch Jr. growing up (the way all pureblooded families knew each other) but they didn’t become close until Dolohov joined and they became the trio

he liked Defense Against the Dark Arts but only because he saw it as a puzzle; if he understood DATDA, he could understand how to get around the defensive spells so that the opponent defense would be rendered useless.

everyone refers to him by his entire name. No Barty or Crouch. Barty Crouch Jr. is what all his friends call him every time they refer to him.

He’s a mega fan of all things quidditch. He knows every single fact and can tell you the score of a Quidditch World Cup a 100 years back. He can tell you the stats of almost every player in the league...at least every player on the important teams. He’s a Chudley Cannons fan.

Evan Rosier

To me, he’s kind of like the Slytherin, pureblood supremacist version of James. He’s good-looking, intelligent, talented, and his background is the opposite of what you’d think. His parents are not well-off or very attractive or kind or smart. If given the chance, they would take from him everything he had. He found a family in his friends (unlike James who gave a family to his friends).

A hard Libra. He’s very much a Libra

is very bisexual and makes it very clear from the moment you meet him. He likes men and women equally and is a charmer. I mean most Slytherins are charmer but he’s got the charm of every female villain sidekick who seduces her way into making the hero break. That’s Rosier.

is the group’s connection to the wizard equivalent to weed, which is called Muggle Beard due to the fact that the marijuana looks gnarly and gross. His connection? His deadbeat parents

Tells nothing about himself to anyone. He’s the person who literally never stops joking so much that if he was serious, you would think he was joking. Like that’s how he is, he’s always messing around.

His favorite class is maybe potions? He doesn’t really like class but he LOVES duelling club. The club is divided into two teams, with a mix of every house on each team. It’s the only place where he doesn’t give a fuck if you’re Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw. If you’re on his team, he supports you, and if you’re not, you’re GOING DOWN

Antonin Dolohov

was supposed to go to Durmstrang but his mother, who had been dating an abusive muggle man at the time, had to flee before he killed both her and her son, which brought them to England and which brought on his long-held grudge on muggles. His mom’s abusive ex broke his nose before they left, which is why it’s a little crooked.

He’s probably most definitely a Leo. That’s just it. He is.

didn’t want to make friends at first out of spite but after a while of some determined teasing from Rosier and Barty Crouch Jr. he caved

was arranged to be married to Andromeda before she ran away with a muggleborn. He was quite infatuated with her (or at least the idea of being married to someone) but after she left him, the whole thing lost its taste. He no longer felt the need to find someone to spend his life with.

favorite class was transfiguration. If he became an animagi, he would have turned into a hawk or possibly a falcon. Definitely a bird of prey. He gives out strong bird vibes.

(3) Honestly even with all my issues it's kind of nice being a hopeless romantic! Like you said it gives me the chance to day dream haha. Maybe I have my head in the clouds a lot but sometimes it's nice to be there. There's so many, but I think it's a tie between enemies to lovers and friends to lovers. I love the drama and comedy from the former but I'm so Soft for the latter, and that's highkey how I want my relationship to start.

(4) I think building that bond with someone before you even start dating them is really sweet, and having that connection by the time you commit to each other is 💓 I'm sorry you've been having writers block, that's the worst :( if it helps, the past two chapters have turned out amazing, I love them so much!! I think the closest I got to hardcore shipping something that wasn't canon was RinHaru? But there was also a lot of tension and affection in their relationship so I could see it being canon

there’s nothing wrong with having dreams! just so long as you can ground yourself at the end of the day.

enemies to lovers is always the funniest for me to read TBH. because it’s such an inevitable cliche haha. friends to lovers though -- oooo my heart.

I think she's a really underrated Disney character :(

(8) what kind were you thinking of? and psych is super cool too! Having that understanding of people and the world can be really eye opening and fun :D It's okay, he was one of my favorite teachers but looking back he was an asshole. He had his good/funny moments and did a lot for me, but he also abused some of editors in my journalism class, and some friends of mine :/ He wouldn't appreciate their work, sometimes insult them, and even encouraged my friend to not sleep for the sake of the paper

i’m positive that you’ll do just fine once you get out there! it seems like you have a pretty thick skin :)

i really wanted to open a business to help support under-represented groups receive an education - with major focus on minority groups such as orphans/foster children, veterans, and the homeless. there’s so much logistics that tbh i’m too ~stressed~ to think about so i’m tabling that for awhile :’)

bruhhh fuck that teacher. drop his addy, i just wanna talk real q 💞 if you can’t support all of your students, then there is no point in being a professor!! there is literally 0 reason to be rude when you’re in a position of power, especially when it involves someone’s passion, career, and/or education.

I wouldn't say I'm all that great tbh, but I'm proud of a lot of my works LOL. My favorite part about it is using makeup and tools to just turn into something else. Wounds are always fun, but making yourself a gargoyle or some other creature is what makes it so interesting to me.

Being a part of the whole production, especially all sides to it, sounds so fun. Do you have any favorite memories from your time in high school? I’m tired from literally going to one lecture haha, but in any event I’ve been rewatching mad men for the who knows what time but I thought I’d take a break from all that and watch an episode of CtM & @flyingnonny inspired me to do a reaction post so why not? I decided on 5.06 since last Sunday’s episode reminded us of that camping trip 😂😂 here goes nothing..

4) Trixie was the only one besides Sister Julienne to visit her in the sanatorium. That has to count for something! 5) They’ve both been on the show since day 1 & have known each other the longest (besides the nuns) why wouldn’t they be friends or least actually speak to each other?

SO’S GLEE EPISODE RANKING: NO. 41

I started a Full Glee Episode Ranking between seasons 5 and 6 over two years ago now (!!!). My opinions have changed somewhat since then (retrospect is an interesting thing), and I need to include the thirteen season six episodes I neglected in my original list. With the two year anniversary of the show being over a few months away, I thought I’d count down to by posting an episode every day. I’ll tag using: glee episode rankings

Here we go…

41. Goodbye (3x22)

What? How dare you place this god awful episode so high on your list. It’s the epitome of everything I hate! And Finchel! Arguing about chairs! The worst!

Look - yeah, there are definitely some moments in this episode that are truly bad, but as an ensemble episode, where everyone gets a little piece of the story, I think it really works very well. I think it not only wraps up season 3 pretty decently, I think it works as a finale for the first half of the show. I also give it credit for really capturing the feeling of what it’s like to graduate - that there are definitely some endings, and somethings are open ended. Sure, I would have liked to have more development and better resolution with all of the characters who are not Finn or Rachel - but I feel that way about the entire show. It’s not a this episode only problem.

So yeah, each of the seniors get their own goodbye (including Mike - but his is in a deleted scene unfortunately.) And I think it does work for what it is, even if the last ten minutes makes me want to throw things at the TV.

High Points:

All the flashbacks - I mean, three years seems a little early to be nostalgic, but it’s in a way, that’s high school for you.

I’m glad Will didn’t have a huge part to play in this one. It’s a moment for all the seniors.

All the seniors getting their little moments of recognition. Yeah, I think Mercedes could have gotten more, and Mike’s story line didn’t deserve to be on the cutting room floor (they could have cut the Finchel/chairs scene), but I think all the segments put together as a whole really works.

Kurt’s little segment and all its glory - especially Burt doing single ladies.

Samcedes nod - yay!

I like the Rachel/Quinn stuff, and I wish they had done more with female friendships in general on the show.

The actual graduation sequence.

Low Points:

All the seniors are cool but Finn was the best ever stuff in this kind of bugs me. Look, I like Finn just fine, but I really hated when the show centered in on the white, straight, popular guy as the key to happiness - or whatever the show was trying to say. It’s all that be a real man stuff that the show was too obsessed with.

The fact that they totally neglected Brittany as a senior until now. (Were they always going to hold her back? Or did they completely forget she was a senior for a while?)

Finchel arguing over chairs **rolls eyes**

KURT NOT GETTING INTO NYADA! Not only because I think he deserved to get in, but because it just shows that the entire NYADA storyline was there to prop up Rachel’s eventual acceptance. There aren’t many things I’m genuinely annoyed with about the show anymore -but this is one of the remaining few.

Finn deciding Rachel’s future. Look - I actually think this scene is very well acted, and kind of moving when you don’t look at it too closely. But man, Rachel doesn’t get to make her own decisions, like ever. She’s either handed things, or has things taken away from her. Let her make her own damn decision.

Music:

Forever Young: I actually really enjoy this one. It’s kind of a bittersweet moment, and all the sad faces during this one, omg! But yeah, Matthew Morrison sounds good on these kind of numbers, and it works really well.

I’ll Remember: Hm, this might be one of my least favorite Kurt solos. He does a fine job with it, I’m just not a fan of the song. And while I think it’s a good fit for his character, I kind of roll my eyes at the whole - dedicated to all the men thing.

You Give What You Get: Oh this is so fun, I like the interplay between the seniors and the juniors here.

In My Life: Ah, another kind of bittersweet one - the juniors are adorable bbs, and I feel sad for them, tbh. Maybe just Blaine - who looks like he’s about to cry this entire episode.

Glory Days: This sounds really good, and it’s a great piece to put to the montage of the graduation. Really works.

Roots Before Branches: Idk - after all these years, it does make sense that instead of a group number, they ended with a Rachel solo. I don’t like this song, and it’s more Rachel emoting, whatever, but I think it works for what they were trying to do moving forward.

(Bonus) Good Riddance: Ah, that song that everyone knows as The Graduation Song, because for years, teens picked this Green Day classic as their song. I’m putting this on here because it was on the album, and it’s Finn and Blaine, and I think they sound awesome on it. I listen to it all the time.

Final Verdict: I think this is one of those times the show was all about the ensemble, I think that the segmented style really works, and I think it’s a better episode than people give it credit for. Yeah, the last ten minutes suck - but it still really works as a piece about closure.
