im starting a new post for this bc the last one was getting Long BUT i got tagged in a tag game by my good good friend @bonetrix-arts (which, HIIIII OMG i gotta bug you on discord soon) but anyways im trying to keep being more active on here so without further ado :]

last song i listened to - where our blue is by tatsuya kitani, i have been fucking obsessed with this song since i heard the first snippet of it in the trailer for jjk season 2 and AUGHHHH its so so so so good i love it very much i have listened to it many times

currently reading - a fuckin LOT of things but nothing much actively. for novels, i'm reading a master of djinn by p. djèlí clark, and in terms of manga and webcomics, im reading hell's paradise (SOOOO close to having a full collection of this one) and marionetta, as well as keeping up with jjk and akane-banashi as they release!!! im also technically in the middle of nona the ninth and wanna keep reading it but istg i havent touched the book in fuckin forever

currently watching - other than jjk season 2? nothing other than like video essays or letsplays on youtube, tbh.

current obsession - well uh. its guilty gear. its BEEN guilty gear. we know this. season 3 shit is gonna be so exciting im really really lookin forward to it, i think johnny is gonna be cool as fuck and the patch is gonna shake things up :] other than that, i recently got elden ring and it's fun!!! i'm very bad at it!!! and im also replaying pokemon ultra sun because im realizing i never actually got to like. the end of the game. or past the second trial. so it's already goin better this run lmao

kat talks: 5-star

tldr; it did not take long at all for this comeback to grow on me i love it so much. i find that with most new songs my first listen is always very apathetic and/or ??? LOL and there exists only a small handful of songs that i immediately was like oH MY GOD (this is across all artists i listen to) but yeah i always forget that when listening to new music and i think this comeback is the first time i fully acknowledged that my first listen is rarely (and doesnt need to be) instant likesies. theres a lot of small bits throughout the album that remind me of other songs (not a bad thing, just smth i noticed i kept noticing?). topline, dlc, the sound and time out were/are my favs hehe (update: relistening to the album again and collision and fnf are creeping up to my favs too help)

9) do you visualize scenes in your head before you write them? (can you picture the setting, character body language etc)

YES omg i cannot write anything without imagining it first! a lot of the time i get a couple of very detailed like images? if thats the right word for em and i'll base the fic around that or i keep working on all the little details which i wanna add in throughout it

18) what is the most obscure thing you've had to research for a fic?

hmm i'm not entirely sure cause i do a fuckton of research for fics but i'd say some obscure ones would be like replaying an entire game to understand the 'vibe' of the game and also watching a bunch of far cry 4 videos where the car is driving because i wanted to get the details of like the trinkets on the dashboards and also how the road is gravelly (i love little details like this so)

21) writers choice - pick any of these i want to answer

(10) how do you feel about writing plot, setting/description, inner thoughts, dialogue?

i LOVE writing all of these!! mostly it's gotta be inner thoughts cause i just love giving characters like internal gay panic and i can play around with angst and fluff. I also love settings and descriptions bc i want to read a fic and actually feel like you or the character is standing there so i love details for my settings.

(16) do you have a method for getting characters to sound/feel in character?

sometimes i will replay a game or a certain mission bc i watch how they move, the way they laugh and if they have any specific mannerism which are specific to their character. like the way dani says coño a lot, juan's voice cracks slightly at certain times and in red dead some characters say 'yer' instead of 'you' a lot more than others.

other times i will just rewatch cutscenes cause it's usually quicker but if im playing it then its the ultimate time to kinda understand characters better

(17) do you have any wips that you can tell us about? what are you most excited for in your wip?

its a little too long to type out but i have about 3 wips for FC5, and about 8 wips for FC6

i think my top three i'm most excited for are: sharky x clumsy!reader, a fc4/fc6 hybrid fic for juan x willis which shall be a multi chapter longer project and i'm gonna work on a clara x fem!reader too

i miss barry and thori and blisk and bear so much tonight. bear was gonna b so cool. but tbh i should have known this was the direction things were going. killing thori was kind of a last ditch effort to make things run smoothly again, and i think at that point, you should just cut your losses. it may not have been bad d&d, but it wasn't enjoyable d&d anymore. i think expressing that feeling also kind of led to this. it sucks, but hey. life moves forward. i can always use my "x class thinks theyre actually y class" gimmick somewhere else. i did it with thori, i did it with reggie, i can do it again. it kinda sucks that it happens like. right before cool shit happens though. like i think thori had some really cool opportunities available to her that we just didn't explore for [reasons]. i would have really loved to do that, but it wasn't what was fun for everyone. and i was really excited to play with henry's life and what that entailed, but then everyone was gone and nothing was fun anymore. max would have been really great, too, but nothing gold can stay. i think the body swap was such a cool concept, but nobody ever got to find out about it. not that it would have mattered much - i seem to fall into a pit of playing with people who only really care about their own characters, and not a collaborative experience. god knows i didn't enjoy orryn or vesuvius past a certain point. athel was really awesome though. i miss what she had going on, and i think getting to explore her "orphanage" would have been seriously kickass. zia also seemed like there were opportunities abound. god cese was really fun to play with, i think having that element missing from the game with max and kiwi and jeff was a big detriment to it. it's nice to play with someone who is paying attention to the circumstances but doesn't need to be centered in them. one day i will find a group of these people and play a really great game, but that just takes time and patience. this is an absolutely incoherent dump at this point but im typing it on tumblr so its staying on tumblr. i think everyone should be a little more adaptable with d&d. i know thats a very lukewarm take. but i think everyone should be able to like, sit back and be cool with where the story goes as a group, and adjust based on the group vibes. i'm not flawless. thori was kind of a cunt. i loved her, but she was a cunt. i don't think it was a bad vibe - i was told it wasn't. but idk, people aren't always fully honest about those things. it sucks that i felt like i had to kill her in order to have a place in the story, but i couldn't find any other way for her to fit in. i hope she's enjoying herself out there. i hope the people who she hurt get their vengeance, and i hope she's able to forgive herself. i hope henry found peace in his little half a home, and managed to find love from his community, if he couldn't save his wife. i hope max. well. i don't think max survived that giant fireball if you think about it. but if he did, i want to forever picture that moment with water-walking boots and the vial of water, waves roaring just under his steps. i don't know what bear... well, tallulah, would have gone through, but i hope she navigated it with all the grace a teenager could hope for. i hope they're all happy, even if they're not real. they only really grow and change around others, and i don't really replay characters, so they're more or less stuck where they were, with what i know about them. they're like friends i lost touch with. i know they're out there, i know what they were last up to, but beyond that, i can only hope that they're okay.

130423 Final Fantasy XVI Showcase

"I'm going to drop 200+ hours in this game"

some quick notes then ill start blabbering :)

Naoki Yoshida as producer! he played a huge part in the relaunch of FF XIV and saved the game honestly love that man.

The story of FF XVI isn't related to any of the other games so this can be a great game for anyone to play even if they aren't caught up with the stories of other games.

okay now we ramble

CLIVE ROSFIELD <3 already a slay we love to see it

having a world map system with updated locations as the story progresses and the ability to fast travel is a GOD SEND omg the amount of times id get lost especially in the crisis core remake that had me LOST when i had to get Cloud the clothes in that one part (iykyk).

riding chocobos. enough said.

combat. final fantasy but with real time combat. the interface also looks amazing its simple (doesn't take up too much space on the screen) but its easy to understand. and theres button mashing sections in combat. i LOVE a good button mashing its the rhythm game player in me i swear. theres also a lot of accessibility features in the game which is great to see cause you can tell they really want everyone to be able to play adn it can also help with casual players who dont want to be stressed out and rage quit every 10 minutes (lowkey me). side note. controlling infrit. end of side note.

the leveling and ability system reminds me of a mix of final fantasy x and god of war just based on looks alone and i LOVE both of those games.

the training area. this. they popped off with this. it sounds like a "oh who would really use this" type of thing but honestly sometimes you gotta just keep retrying combos and other things just to get used to it so if im ever confused about anything i will definitely end up there.

story focus mode. i think if i replay the game depending on how long it takes me to beat it or if i really want a platinum i will replay on story focus mode so i can relive the story but without being as stressed.

MEOW MEOW WOLF FRIEND. we can give him treats. literally shed a tear when i saw that.

arcade mode. im gonna grind in the training area so i can smoke kids in the arcade mode. i dont have classes in the summer so all my time WILL be put in this game hence the "200+ hours"

theres bounties to hunt. theres a library to fill. theres so many side quests to complete when you want to take a break from the actual story or if you complete the game and want to play even more. I cant wait to see what is needed to plat the game.

im so excited for this game i cant wait. the last game i played that i dropped a lot of hours in was persona 5 (not royal) and i dropped a little over 180 hours into the game...

You guys do a lot of stay at home dates

Every single time is a hug and pronaly a cheek kiss but hug

And you guys go to play video games or a couple hours

Have a good sleep! :D Good morning when you do see this! But gosh, yeah, only 3 episodes, and Inbetween only showing up the last few minutes, but there have really been such huge developments? All of Karl learning more about it, then escaping, and the whole Other Side. But UA still feels accurate and tonally consistent with all of Tales and it just fits! Super glad that it conveys all you wanted it to. :D

But yeah, Q's definitely gone in big on the cinematography!! Callahan helps film a lot of it, I believe. Esp since I think he said a while back he'd probably only stream DSMP when it's a big lore thing? So he's putting in a lot of time on them and they look so good for it.

Yeeeee, Kingdom Hearts is so cool!! Haven't played it but I've seen others play parts, so much of the story is interesting and creative. And all the influence of it Karl takes for his lore is just!!!! It's neat!! And I can't wait to see where Karl takes the story next, because it feels like things are gonna have to reach a breaking point eventually and if that happens it's gonna be nuts.

good morning! i woke up thinking about spau and i'm gonna rewatch tales once i'm done watching the last few episodes of an anime i've been watching. leo go brrrrrrrrrrrr

the inbetween segments are paced really well i think? like it's got this great buildup and also it was really fun to reread through my older opinions on stuff and see my own interpretation of the inbetween change as it got more sinister. im really glad i started watching tales after hearing abt mizu bc seeing it unfold in real time was amazing

i love kh a lot fdglkxdhflkdf i havent.. actually been able to play any of the mainline games.. bc of not having the consoles kh 1 & 2 released on, but ive played the handheld games (chain of memories, days, re:coded, dream drop distance) and they had a huge impression on me. i should replay 3D.. i was Starting to replay it but then got distracted, probably bc of my 3ds's R button getting finicky. but yeah its SO COOL seeing the direct influence it has on tales, especially the inbetween, and it makes me really excited for whatever the Other Side turns out to be bc from visuals alone / the implied "darkness is more friendly than light" theming there is a Lot of potential that i am absolutely gonna spau brrrr over

oh man blaseball got weird (/pos). the end of the last era was like, the teams blew up the sun + killed god + failed to escape a black hole so everybody is stuck in limbo while the microphone, which is now acting of its own accord, keeps switching between parallel universes while trying to recharge after being damaged in the last era. also we STILL dont know what happened to original wyatt but MaX, Ivy, and NaN are okay! i mean uh NaN was on the first team to get nullified by the black hole and MaX & Ivy technically died because their teams got technically incinerated so they'd have the power to kill the Coin, but they're fiiiiiiine. i think. normal blaseball stuff. :p

(what this means gameplay-wise is the devs are testing out game mechanics with temporary "circuits" that have all-new players and are gonna continue the "main" storyline once they're done testing, and in the meantime we get to learn more about the microphone as an object and what it can do! also the new circuit is starting tomorrow so that's exciting)
