I give beck a big hug, leaving a note in his hands. It's got "UR COOL" written in it with a big star next to it and 20 bucks.

Beck startles a little, not used to people just hugging him out of nowhere. You're gone before he can look at the note, and you don't turn back when he calls after you that you don't need to be giving him your hard-earned money.

That's fine. He's a vampire now. He takes off after you, catching up in no time and gently slipping the bill into your front pocket with a soft apology for giving you things without asking for permission. But he's just giving it back, that's different. He's gone before you could argue.

The note makes him smile.
