Okay i finished all 3 books yay wow what the fuck. Side note i think i might actually maybe have covid now lol

#Feeling feverish #And my throat is itchy #And my head hurts #I'm not quite sure how i feel about the books #I mean I feel good that I actually read and finished them all #They were kind of good #The ya market is so disgustingly oversaturated #And finding something thats not actually a steaming pile of garbage is always a shock lol #The characters were the strongest part #Which is always a good sign #She is very good at dialogue #Which is also a good sign #Mostly I think the plotting and overall narrative arcs need work #I swear to god she put the same damn scene in every other chapter of each book #'alina and friends have a plan. they are about to set off.' #'oh wait whats that OH NO THE DARKLING!!!!!!!!!' #just over and over and over again #i think she couldve done more with the concept of light vs dark!!! #she peeked at it a tiny bit right before the climax of the last book #but she didnt really delve into it #which is sad because theres so much to explore there #It also makes me sad to see the state of the sequels #That king of scars nonsense #oh nooooo the darkling!!!! he is back!!!!!!!! #its the same one from all the other books because i couldnt come up with a different villain and i like cashing checks #like miss girl we've been to exactly 1.25 countries in this world youve created #and you just decided to do the same damn thing all over again #sad! #well. it was a fun read.
