(explanations under the cut!)

Let’s Get This Over With- let’s start at the end! this song i really connect to the epilogue i’m going to write, but also kind of citrus as a whole. everybody is trying to adjust while on earth c, trying to find out what to do next. the line “you’re still hanging around the clambake, after every clam has been baked” really makes me think of page and how she’s dealing with her unresolved relationship with her uncle (he’s a fisherman, it’s a painful reminder). also the lines “after all the spelling mistakes, after all the groping in the dark, can this page of strange gibberish get a final punctuation mark” makes me think about... me, writing citrus :]

Aaa- page during Act 1 (and also Act 3?) with her whole ant infestation. (i had first gotten the idea that page thought her house was haunted bc she was hearing noises in the walls, but i thought it was too similar to john’s connections with ghosts and stuff, so i changed it to just ants)

Absentee- this song connects most to the feelings page has about her families, both (ecto)biological and found. (i also had this whole idea where a young paul was a character in hauntswitch, and had a kind of kismesissitude with dammek (the deer on the cover gave me the idea), and that page’s animal would be a deer instead, but i scrapped it (would make a cool au though...)) also the guy who made the song is named jack campbell so 👍 funny coincidence (eyes)

Harsh Augmented Reality- this song kind of encapsulates page’s arc in the story as a whole. she feels sort of disconnected from reality, and just wants things to go back to normal. a whole theme i had for this song was john and page holding hands, on the battlefield and on the victory platform since theyre both sort of the protagonists, john with homestuck proper and page with citrus. theyre going to make it through this together.

Nemeses- a kismesissitude song, mainly for wyllin and eridan. also kind of how i think wyllin sounds when singing?? but theyre both kind of singing this song, with some verses switching in between the two, like “sometimes it’s hard to tell if you even notice me” is eridan while “its better you dont see the way im running just to keep your back in few” is wyllin

Kix- a song for a cute scene where some of the meteor crew is playing music together :) dave is singing and doing the beats, wyllin is playing the clarinet and doing back up vocals, rose is playing the violin, nepeta is playing the triangle, and terezi is messing with the record player >:]

Tek It- my rennoa voice claim! i think the song fits her and kankri, and wyllin and eridan, since i think they parallel each other with complicated pitch feelings, especially with the lines “and you just cant call a spade a spade” and “and you cant stand the thought of a real beating heart” (just imagine her singing this while playing the guitar, its very cool)

Better Than Me- another rennoa song, i imagine this being played by her singing, with rufioh playing the drums, damara playing the keyboard, and mituna playing the guitar. she feels like shes a failure as a blood player, a sylph of blood no less, and a failure for giving up on her dreams because of the “culling” she endured on Beforus

Your Stupid Face- THE PAGEKAT SONG IN THE ENTIRE HISTORY OF PARADOX SPACE. listen listen its so corny but i literally don’t care so listen to it, it starts with him trolling her while shes on her planet, then they actually start talking, and then the “oh.” GOSH then he falls so hard its not even funny, and the “world” he refers to is skaia, he is so angry a paradox space for having them meet, and then the scratch happens and the trollian port goes black and they end off on a sour note, but god karkat regrets it so much so hes dreading seeing her again in the new session, but then they see eachother again and BOOM page confesses and karkats like WHAT but then they make up and its beautiful its incredible its amazing and its REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Palindrome I- A song that I relate to a lot of characters in homestuck, its like the whole idea of “everything in paradox space has already happened, it only mirrors itself over and over again” in song form. i mainly connect it to the light players, the time players, the rage players, the heart players, the life players, kanaya, equius, jake, paul, and calliope and caliborn bc i think all of these characters have super strong ties to doc scratch/lord english, and the whole song is explicitly about the ouroburos cycle

When The Lights Come On- now let’s end at the actual end! this song i heavily relate to myself as the author, and how my aspect is light, but also kind of how some of the character’s arcs end. and also i just really like the lines “i think im tripping, somethings got me by the hair, lets table this discussion until my concussion on the bottom stair” because i warned you about stairs bro!!!

ok so this turned out really long bc i had to look through my huge playlist >_< a lot of these i really wanna make into lyricstucks even tho ill probably never get to it >_> (this is required listening if you want a look inside my twisted mind lol)

Push Back the Hands by TMBG is makes me think of Dave bc... time, but it also makes me think of Hal bc of the music video (the guy in it looks like Hal)

Electronic Lover by Breathe Electric is a JuneDave song from Dave's perspective, just the 2000's/early 2010's techno pop fits him so well idk why, but if were being self indulgent here (which we are), it is also a PageDave song :)

I Palindrome I by TMBG is Calliope and Caliborn. literally (but i also kind of imagine it being sung by a bunch of the characters who were majorly influenced by Caliborn/Lord English (not to say that all of the characters werent influenced by him, but im just saying the ones that come to mind first), like Jake Eridan (all the hope players), Dirk, Aradia, Vriska Aranea and Rose(?) (all the light players), Gamzee, Kurloz, Damara, Meenah, Dave and Nepeta (since Davepetasprite went to go fight Lord English in [s] collide) and also Page??)

Doncamatic is sooo Dave and Davesprite, but specifically from Davesprite's perspective of going back in time to save John and the alpha timeline

Nightboat to Cairo is also Caliborn and Calliope, but mainly Caliborn

Kix by The Real Tuesday Weld is what i headcanon Dave to sound like when he sings, and it makes me think of a little thing where the meteor crew is all playing the song with Dave singing and doing the beats, Wyllin is singing backup and playing the clarenet, Rose is playing violin, Karkat is playing the triangle, and Terezi is messing with the record player

Tek It makes me think of Rennoa (its also my voiceclaim for her), but also Wyllin and Eridan <3

Ghost by The Mystery Skulls is SOO Aradia and Vriska, the first half is Aradia being a ghost, then a robot and then godtiering, and the second half is about vriska being a ghost in the dreambubbles, and its like a kind of canon divergent thing where she stays a ghost but goes on to fight lord english and fades away after everybody else leaves the game, but she gets to see john one last time in a dream he has, similar to the time that vriska and dead suit john first meet in the snow in the dream bubbles

The Air-Conditioned Nightmare by Mr. Bungle is a Tavros song literally

Blue Lips. is a John song. despite everything. it makes me insane
