Since eye color plays such an incredibly important role in the books, how do you think the people of the Empire would respond to someone naturally born with heterochromia? I like to think that it’s treated as a sort of omen or an esoteric superstition among the general population, since they wouldn’t necessarily know about the details of Lyctorhood, but it would still have a great deal of cultural significance. A child born with mismatched eyes has an extraordinary fate ahead - doubly so if they also happen to be “gifted.” 

(Very few are brave enough to ask whether “extraordinary” also means “good” or “happy.” It’s better not to question such things.)
