03/02/2017 - Reading Books, Taking Looks
my day as it was today was getting to the end of another chapter ... another chapter of the book I’m reading - don’t get all deep and meaningful on me now, come on guys ...
I finished HULK, did I tell yuh? I finished the novelisation of the film HULK by Ang Lee, and annoyingly it ended the exact same way as the movie did. I just did NOT see that coming ... the end was, basically, that he hulked. like there was this whole book and in the end it was like “ah whatever ...” and he hulked for the sake of it. but now I’ve moved on. now I’m reading Doomed, the second book in Palahniuk’s “Maddy Spencer series” (the sequel to Damned) and it’s really great. like so great! reading Palahniuk makes me want to write, reading Kerouac makes me want to drink, and reading Peter David makes me giggle inside in my heart.
reading on the train has not got any more accepted ... perhaps it’s because I’m reading a physical copy of a book. perhaps if I had a kindle, or read a book off of my iPad I wouldn’t get the looks I get. it’s almost like I may as well sit on the tube and stare at a big neon pink dildo the entire time ... people are always so shocked and appalled that I would even suggest to reading words on paper that weren’t the free media handed out at tube stations. but I love it ... I love the hassle of carrying a book, trying to remember where I was up to on a page and whipping out the novel, bending the spine and, without music, headphones or mobile games, just losing myself completely.
and that’s the best about books, you’re zoned out but in no way mindless. I can listen to any Panic! at the Disco album and do the same, those songs (all of them) have a meaning and spark a memory and it’s great - it’s like rereading a story every time in my mind. that’s why I deleted all the games on my phone, last time I played one I did so out of boredom and was in turn bored. I got no joy and the only zoning out I did was a zombified state of flicking up, down, left, and right ...
a child was born, in my book, from satan’s used condom blown up like a balloon animal and shaped to look like a human being. it was then swept away in the rain, whereby it was carried to sea and after year of travelling the ocean, joined by other discarded trash, it eventually moulded together to take a form of a perfectly pure plastic piece of trash human - that everyone thought to be the second coming.
strike that in comparison to the other day in Temple Run 2 when I got a new high score, and unlocked a new hat ... see what I mean? no more games people. let’s read, and I’m gunna write. but if I’m gunna do so you need to read ... people won’t write if there’s no one to read. tell you what, I have a deal for yuh. I bet the 34p I deposited today (each, to everyone reading) that by this time next year I’ll have written a novel ... don’t believe me? well then mark the date and this time next year you can either congratulate me, or collect your money. it’s a win win ...
BYE NOW ...
