INTRO: MUN // TASK #001

hey all!! i’m slowly working on bios and pages and such but I wanted to introduce myself first -- so here’s what’s technically was the first task?? im using it as the template for my intro so HERE WE GO!!

people who expect immediate replies for rp or asks. i usually try to reply to stuff within a day, unless time/motivation gets in the way and then ill make a post to say that ill get to them another time. rp isn’t my first priority since i have job and uni work and the occasional irl obligations to do, and sometimes i just feel like doing other stuff instead of my replies because this blog is just a hobby after all

but ive had people IM me asking to respond to their asks while im literally in the middle of writing them, because apparently taking 20 mins to respond to something is too much time :V (and then i felt too anxious to respond to the rp we had going around so they went and told other ppl that i hated them but thats another story)

mostly its just Certain Types of fans within fandoms i like that i dont wanna associate with. which mostly boils down to ‘anime fans who think people mentioning that a show has problematic elements are literally calling for all anime to be Cancelled Forever’ lol

PRESENTING. RANDOM DEEP DIVE WITH INDIGO-MUN AT 2AM ;

FIRST NAME Good fucking question… It’s (sort-of) currently Dylann! I was Kieran before that, though; it’s still used as one of my first names and I’m not used to Dylann quite yet bc I’ve just started using it.

Indigo is one of my middle names though, and I’ve used it as an online handle elsewhere forever so I use it here now! [ Fun etymology facts: Dylan(n) is a mythology name generally meaning “born of the wave” (aspiring diver & a water witch at heart). Kieran means “little dark one” bc of my love for horror, && I chose Indigo bc as a kid to be it was neither boy (blue) or purple (girl) and was both and neither as well as my absolute favorite color as this vibrant ass mystical color. ]

STRANGE FACT ABOUT YOURSELF hmmmmm…. I’m a horror lover at heart, so as a child (I wanna say 12), I was walking through an antique store (I have a few cool finds, I considered putting my other one as the fact tbh) and I turned the corner and I saw these two dolls staring back at me at the foot of the stairs of this antique building. my blood froze, and i felt my stomach drop. i got actual, physical goosebumps stumbling across these two creepy dolls staring back at me in the corner, and i couldn’t leave the store without them. perhaps the little painted porcelain boy would be somewhat spooky by himself if it wasn’t for the terrifying lidded gaze of the porcelain girl with the hairline fractures and slightly open lips. i cant look at her. i dont really find dolls scary, I like to find the spookier ones ones, and she makes me paranoid as hell. i keep her face covered and her up in my closet except for when i bring her out to show her off proudly as the spookiest thing I have but……. i dont really collect dolls anymore. even thinking about her brings a fearful tear to my eye. i don’t like to think about her for very long, but that’s why I’m so fucking proud to own her. ( YES — I’m THAT white person in the horror film )

GUILTY PLEASURE the sims. constantly. always. i’ve sunk thousands of hours into my households. oh also uhhhhhh i run two 80s horror blogs, one being a shitpost blog with occasional art of mine and one gremlin fanfic ship blog for horrible, terrible self indulgent fanfics i’ll get the courage to finish writing & post so i can be cancelled on tumblr for at some point. WHAT DO YOU SLEEP IN the same clothes i’ve been wearing all day usually, my sweats & long sleeve raglans or my hoodies. i like being cozy day & and out. and ugh. efoort. just throw me in a blanket in a cool room and im out.

IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN THE PAST AND CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WOULD YOU AND WHAT WOULD IT BE I think I would be adopted by my grandma as a kid. It would save me some trauma but mostly I think it would get my autism diagnosed way earlier and save me angsting all these years of wondering why & thinking it’s my fault I’m struggling so much and so loud and affectionate and different in a world that i didnt fit in the same way.

A MOVIE YOU COULD WATCH OVER AND OVER AGAIN FLYPAPER. F L Y P A P E R. FLYPAPER. FLY, and, I can’t stress this enough, fucking PAPER. ( Though also Whole Nine Yards and both Re-Animator & Bride ). I have watched Flypaper already like, 5 times this week and I’m still not done, and the other movies have been on repeat for days in this household within the last year. In the past it has also been Donnie Darko & the new Nightmare on Elm Street. roast me.

FAVORITE BOOK White Fang by Jack London. Have I actually ever finished it? No. Do I still own a copy I’ve had since childhood thru multiple dogs eating it, taking it to and from school, and highlighting and circling all the best parts of chapter one ever since I was a kid and it was too hard of a book for me to read? You bet your ass. If I ever need inspiration I just reread chapter 1. Although one of my other favorites was Broken Monsters by Lauren Beukes. But White Fang is like, a weirdly personal text. We stan London’s writing in this household.

DREAM JOB Oh… You’re asking me to pick? I’d love to be an anthropologist doing work out in the field. Underwater archaeology is peak, but I’m also heavily considering being a body recovery diver or police diver. I’d love to see myself in uniform someday, if possible. Just the thought makes me teary eyed & proud.

hmm ig i’ll go with canon for this one because i have many ocs, but uh i really wanna write for seto from fragile dreams. i used to have an ask blog for him back in the day but that died quickly seeing as how dead the fandom is so- but i do love him with all my heart and i would love to be able to someday write him or something

rick riordan, marissa meyer and michelle rowen. i’ve read their books throughout middle school and high school and i still find myself going back to reread their books because i just love how their words flow as well as how engaging their plots are. i honestly hope i can reach rick riordan levels of skill whenever i get around to finishing my own novel!

♧ Is there an RP partner(s) that you credit for becoming a better writer?

one would have to be an old rp friend that we sadly don’t talk to anymore since she was the first one i started writing with a lot more back in high school as well as the one who would give me advice on how to improve and just be patient with me when i go stuck with writing our threads and also mikey (@snw-cnvs) since he also supports me outside of rp’ing to get me to write actually fiction drabbles. i just wish i could finish them lmao

all of my ships with mikey no i’m joking lolol i really love my ship with haneul because i’ve had him for two years now and he’s grown a lot because of his ship. he’s someone whose never believed that love was real and sure their relationship is a little rocky, but they both don’t really have the proper understanding for love until waaaay later. i also really love how whenever he’s with obe, he’s able to pull out this different side of haneul, someone whose so overconfident and quick to words, becomes at a loss for words and questioning himself a lot. i just love them best otp

sure, i’d be down for it as long as our muses have the right chemistry as well as if i know both muns pretty well and if they’re also comfortable with it.

eeeeh i dont really care, but i work at a school so the thought makes me like uncomfy because i don’t wanna think about work lolol but its also like fiction and i’m able to tell the difference between fiction and reality so yea. also no i don’t have any threads like that

not really. it became too much of a thing to deal with back in the day. i just like the simple things

nighttime because i’m fuckin nocturnal even tho i have a day job rip my sleep schedule and ever growing eye bags

haneul: no, he’s not into those things, but also he was home schooled until he went to college

okay, if it wasn’t obvious i used to rp back in middle school through high school and on tumblr and i have done my fair share of the sin once i turned 18. nowadays i’m pretty much like eh, but ig i could try again if the need arises, but it also depends on my mood ig? i’d have to write it with someone i’m completely comfortable writing with but also even then it’s gotten to the point i’m more like ig we can just fade to black yea?

tbh i feel i got all the urges to write sin outta me when i was on my old en blog lmao i had so many smut threads on there i’m ashamed

yes god i love being able to break my muses because it’s so fun. like yea it also hurts because that’s my kid i’m hurting but i’m okay with that. it’s just something that adds realness to them because the world sure as fuck ain’t rainbow and sunshine

i have these icons that i squirreled away for awhile now and i really wanna use them but my brain is too dead to figure out who he could work for. like he was my first thought for reese but he didn’t really give off the right reese vibes so maybe i’ll dig around my oc bin and see who looks the closest to him

not really refuse to play - more like i’m eh with. if only because en used to be my main chara for a long time like, i was so deep into the magical boy lore that a good chunk of my headcanons became canon. but also it just…leaves a bad taste in my mouth even more so since the drama that happened in that fandom left me filled with fear and hesitance to rp for a good chunk like before. it just brings back bad memories and i thought i was moving past it when i was thinking about using him for reese but alas. some memories don’t leave

maybe one day i’ll either get to write en again or i can use his face as fc but we’ll see

☂ How does your muse spend a rainy day? How do you spend a rainy day?

haneul: he loves the rain and he’ll spend it either under an umbrella or just sitting there in the rain just letting it wash away his thoughts and fears for a little bit

eiji: he’d spend it indoors playing a video game or playing with seto

reese: he’d prob be dumb and splash in the puddles because he likes to enjoy the little things. other times he’ll just ignore it and stay indoors either hanging with friends or studying and practicing his magic for his school’s next tournament

sage: i like to spend it just lookin out my window with my kitty on my chest. i love the sound of it against the sidewalk and streets.

han and eiji because they’re both my ocs and it’s so much fun to see them develop and grow their characters more.

en because i was able to write a lot of different aus, headcanons, and just develop a canon character until he pretty much just became my own character

lifty and shifty were my roots. i started in the htf fandom and had so much fun writing those lil shits. it was just my go fuckin crazy shit. i still have their icons and their old blog is still up and i do kinda miss them some days.

i used to have an oc named harley who was a living doll and i haha came to hate him because i made him around the same time i created haneul and i always loved haneul because i put a lot of effort into him and not much in harley and i got annoyed and jealous that back then everyone seemed to love harley more him. so i pretty much tossed him to the curve adfhsdkfjh

Caspian without a doubt is my all time faves. All his NPC’s are always super fun but Ardai & Makena are my fave NPC’s to write related to Caspian. My other fave muses to write is Todd @foxxiisms (which im never on now) and his father, Joey ( @mollisvocali ) which i’m also never on anymore.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO TAKE ON YOUR CURRENT MUSE (THAT YOU ARE POSTING THIS ON):

Honestly my inspiration is Caspian himself? I’ve been dedicated to him for 6 years now, and when it started my inspiration was completely different from what it is now. Caspian himself has a lot of sources of inspiration but I find a lot of the time HE just is inspiring in a way that makes me want to write? Probably because he’s been around so much.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE ASPECTS OF YOUR CURRENT MUSE:

Does everything count? LOL. KK no for real I just really love what Caspian is and what he represents. His activist and philanthropy is really something I like exploring. He’s extremely complex so I really enjoy that because simplistic muses don’t always inspire me to write/create/develope them.

WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST INSPIRATION WHEN IT COMES TO WRITING

People, places, music. Really it’s just life experiences. I find religion a really crucial point in a lot of my writing despite being atheist?? I’ve been complimented on my respectful and positive writing when it comes to religion and a lot of people are surprised that I draw so much inspiration from that sort of thing but yeah –– i do. For Caspian in particular I draw a lot on his culture as well, and use that frame of mind to mold his view of the world.

FAVORITE TYPES OF THREADS:

3-5 paras & in-depth threads. Be it angst or fluff or somewhere in the middle, I thrive off being able to write a lot of detail & emotions in threads and I devour replies that do the same thing? Because of this, some types of RP’ers and styles just don’t mesh with me well. One liners are really hard for me. But I always remind people that length never has to be matched & if it’s overwhelming to let me know but yeah.

THE BIGGEST STRUGGLE IN REGARDS TO YOUR CURRENT MUSE:

His failure to confront his mental illness. He can sometimes be a bit of an annoying muse??? Just because sometimes dealing with all his emotional hang ups makes it hard for certain things??? Like developing ships takes really patient RP partners because as @ithilys, @moanaialiki, @1000liveslived, and @misshoodoolady know, Caspian is very very complicated when it comes to romance. I find it’s difficult to have people willing to invest in breaking down his walls to get a romantic ship going??? I’m sure all my ship partners have been super frustrated with him/me over this and I don’t blame them because it’s one of the biggest issues I have with writing Caspian. He’s just too timid around romantic connection and sometimes I just wanna body-check him.

And Like sometimes things just dont go as planned because he’s a very independent muse who calls the shots and theres not a lot I can do about it sometimes?He’s very reactionary and that can sometimes really affect the way a plot happens or the way things develop? Honestly my RP partners who do long and complicated plots with me know just how much things change over time because Caspian continues to surprise ME with the things he does. As much as I love that about him, it can be really frustrating.

ask post formats are the devil incarnate so i’m moving this to a text post rq!

((like, i feel like this trend is precisely why drama isnt fun anymore. why people are so stressed out by dash drama, especially the hemoism drama tbh, to the point they just dont wanna be part of it anymore. if you make someone’s muse angry enough, theyll “ic block” you and then their friends will be less likely to talk to you as well and then you get less “hey this character looks fun and someone i trust follows them” follows. it essentially makes your muse an outcast, which isnt fun to play.

I used to get ic blocked all the time, but it ALWAYS was temporary. I could say and do what I wanted ic and then if someone “blocked” me for it i know they would unblock later. It wasn’t forever, becaue then there would be no chance for similar/related ic drama again and it basically wasted a connection that could change mine and the other person’s muse.

This idea of an ic block being permanent has made it so i feel unwelcome to cause any sort of a problem. Like, its gotten to the point of being so realistic that i feel like differing opinion to the norm = bad problematic blog go die in a cave. Like, i get that ooc, but ic drama and shit isnt real.

Ic drama and ic discourse shouldn’t come with the real possibility of harrassment, people blowing up from all sides without warning, and permablocking. roleplay is supposed to be for fun. the discourse between fictional aliens shouldn’t be just as emotionally draining and terrifying as defending your rights on the internet in real life because real life drama and discourse is NOT fun. its NOT good for this community for this to be taken to this realistic level.

and like, i will add that this is being said by someone who is kinda lowkey kin with the character they play. so like, if I CAN handle the separation of real life and in character rules, you all totally should be able to handle it.

yeah. ic blocking is a great tool to tell a story, but it’s a really bad tool to end a story. honestly imo a solution to every ic blocking situation would be, in the event that it happens, both muns talking asap about how the inevitable unblocking would go. which then, of course, leads into more discussion of why ooc communication is so vitally important.
