#i dont know why its so different for aayla

Over the past year and a half I've been feeling the creeping dread of the fact that Aayla isn't young anymore. I'm now getting all the comments from people referring to her as an older girl.

I feel like I'm always overanalyzing her gait, her weight and her overall being. Like somehow she is just going to wake up old and losing health.

I feel dread that I'm not doing enough for her, that all my time needs to be making sure that she spends her time happy and fulfilled. I haven't felt this with any of my other animals, the aged and I felt like it was appropriate. With Aayla I feel like my heart is screaming that this is all happening too fast. That we can't already be at the halfway point of her life, if we are lucky.

The funny thing about this is that Aayla is not slowing down. Sure I take extra care of her joints and her gait is always a little off due to the ED and arthritis. Yet she is very active, still can out hike me, loves training and still drives us crazy with her energy while playing with Rebel in the evenings. There is nothing about her that suggests slowing down or getting old.

But it's coming and I'm already heartbroken over it. She turns 8 years old on Tuesday. My sweet girl.

#im being dumb #but the last few months leading up to her 8th birthday have me in a mood #maybe it because none of my animals changed much until the end? #Mercy the cat was always lazy and slept all the time #Jake never slowed down #his body just caught up to him and i had to retire him for his own health #yet he was healthier longer than most #i dont know why its so different for aayla #she is more of a heart animal than any other animal has been #she has been consistently at my side for almost 8 years

I honestly don't want to be rude, your design for Aayla Secura is really pretty and I like it a lot, but the reason Aayla wears such revealing clothing is because she's protesting how female Twi'leks are viewed throughout the galaxy (often being sexualized and enslaved). It's actually a pretty big character arc for her in the comics when she was still a padawan, she went from being super ashamed of her roots to the point of covering her lekku, but then she came to embrace her heritage and help break the stereotype of Twi'lek women being just simple entertainers or brothel workers.

Like I said though, your design is super pretty! I just don't like the idea of anyone missing out on this pretty cool aspect of her character and the reason why she doesn't "look" like the other jedi.

Didn't know that but it still rings wrong with me. Of course she can be sexy and awesome!! But its also like. A war zone. Bit weird that she doesn't get anything else. I think it's the classic 'dressing revealing is a womans right and it does feel empowering to some' but also 'it's never been more clear that a man made this decision and its dumb' so ehhhh I draw her both with her og clothes and different stuff lmao
