headcanon that when Voldemort dropped dead in the great hall in DH, instead of cheers, it was met with shocked silence, no one moving an inch in fear it wasn’t true

breaking the silence is the footsteps of Ginny Weasley stepping through the crowd, around her family, and to the body of Voldemort

with forced concentration to avoid shakiness and to keep alert, her wand clenched in one hand as the other reaches forward to the still body

feeling no pulse and no breath, Ginny stands and meets Harry’s eyes across the room, a smile breaking across both their faces in sheer disbelief and happiness

it’s only at this confirmation that the room fills with shouts of joy and pops of apparition
