I find it so painfully heartbreaking that Solomon just...laughs off all the derision, the name-calling, and possibly even did "evil" things on purpose because it's expected of him at this point. (He had not always been like this as Thirteen pointed out before). There was a time when he was "innocent". When his soul sparkled. When it resembled the kind of soul everyone in these god forsaken (pun intended with spite) three realms seemed to associate with the ever loved MC. He's just...worryingly carefree. And because he's like that, he feels even more of a tragic character to me.
Sometimes it even seems that he himself would seemingly make up excuses on why he's hated. Oh, it's because I'm a sorcerer this. I might have won a war against Devildom single-handedly this. I have forgotten. But maybe, I did something bad, that. Hon, you were doing that to SURVIVE. You don't have to be a faultless person to deserve compassion. You don't have to be MC to deserve to be loved.

Y'know, now that I've had a couple weeks to sit with Hazbin Hotel and get over the catchy songs and brilliant voice acting, I hate to say it but Helluva Boss is better. Helluva is messier and its low points are lower, but it feels more authentic. The humor isn't always funny to me, but you can tell that it was funny to the people writing it. I can see the writers room bouncing dumb sex jokes off of eachother and laughing. I like the formula better, the more cynical attitude, and the characters manage to feel more human despite being hellborn murderous monsters. And even though it's the literal same universe, the world of Helluva is so much more full and lived-in? Hazbin had a certain emptiness. A Tell-Don't-Show kinda bare bones rushed feeling. I'm not saying Helluva Boss is a great show, but it's got so much more charm (particularly in the first season). Helluva Boss feels like an actual fun dumb adult comedy, Hazbin feels like a kids show with gore and swear words.

You can’t force people to be honest with you. If you’re an up-front person who doesn’t have a problem asking for what you need, it can be easy to interpret wishy-washiness as cowardly and manipulative. It obviously sucks to be in emotional limbo, and I don’t blame you for interpreting their silence as a punishment. But have you considered it might also be a form of self-protection?
“Why won’t X tell me what’s wrong? I’m not a mind reader!” is a common complaint. But the question which often occurs to me is, who does that clarity benefit? Does the teller have reasonable grounds to believe expressing their anger is a safe or productive thing to do? Is it going to lead to deeper understanding, or just another argument? Is the person demanding an explanation going to listen, or use the teller’s complaint to retaliate, linguistically outmanoeuvre them, or adopt a position of victimhood? Often a request for clarity is disingenuous. We know what we’ve done and just don’t want to have to be the one to bring it up, because we feel guilty, and it’s easier to take a defensive posture than proactively apologise.
Not to mention that when we’re upset, the last thing we want is to give the person who offended us an opportunity to relitigate the situation. Especially if there’s wounded pride involved. It can be humiliating to confess the depth of your hurt feelings. That kind of honesty is an act of generosity, not emotional obligation.

I'm listening to the Shining audiobook and I love the Overlook Hotel. She's such a hater. Everything described as traps and teeth and snares and jungle. I don't know why she's like that but I can't wait to find out. I mean part of my personal explanation so far is just Colorado Be Like That. Something about the air and the altitude there already gives my brain a weird tension and god the Overlook is just THE setting as character. Love that for her.

Oooo I love the idea of distribution system Ghost starting to heal and moving on from his savior, but I also love the idea that he heals and begins to realize that they’re a little more human than he first thought and maybe they need a bit of saving too and like it turns into this mutually beneficial healing. Like they healed Ghost so damn it if he won’t save them too (he owes them his life after all)
Like I said I'm still work shopping what I think the ending will be! I want it to have a meaning within the story, even if that ending happens to be my usual happy ending of they get married and are gross and in love. I have another story I'm working on that has an ending I think I might semi-steal for the Ghost distribution system, we'll see though.
I gotta do an in-depth re-read and figure out my feelings on it.

I got to look at the room in the dormitory and now I'm torn between taking it and running, or maybe taking a bit more time to find something... less really cramped and where the washing machine doesn't smell sour, somehow
