my theatre hyperfixation has been coming back and i have watched so many sweeney todd analysis vids in the past two days and one of them mentioned that sweeney’s backstory was inspired by the count of monte cristo and i’m just like “I KNEW IT”

#crazy's life #i feel so vindicated #i've always thought they were so similar #like the only difference is that three people got edmund sent to the chateau dif but benjamin was sent by one guy #but like. european man gets sent to a prison island because a person in a position of power wanted to get with his love interest but he #escapes and comes back under a different name seeking revenge #i guess another difference is that edmund became rich before he came back but whatever #i guess for personal context y'all should know the count of monte cristo is what got me into musical theater & sweeney todd is one of my fav #musicals. like top five at least. if we eliminate starkid from the list then it's my second favorite #i blame (affectionate) my siblings for my musical obsession returning rn #step-sister's been really into legally blonde the musical lately and i watched it twice with her in the past few months and even more #recently damien watched the movie and since the musical was fresh in my mind i kept thinking about it #and the thing is i got into legally blonde & sweeney todd & something rotten all at the same time #so they're all connected in my brain so if i get back into one i automatically get back into the others #and i only watched those three because they all have christian borle in them and he's in my favorite musical falsettos #long story short watched a bunch of theatre compilations and every time a musical i liked was in it brain started going brrrr #crazwaz posted
