they're sitting on dae's bed, towel laid out beneath them with nail products scattered across it. he had asked haneul to help him fix his nails — his father had cut off access to his cards for the week for something or other and he was in desperate need of a manicure. daesung could probably do them well enough himself, but han was undoubtedly the more artistic of the two. and he had more than just an ice coffee and four strawberries to eat today, so he was the less shaky of the two on top of that. they'd been silent for a while now, which really should have been han's first sign of danger. his best friend is rarely quiet; when he is, he's very likely working himself up about something. so when dae's voice finally cuts through the silence, he really shouldn't be surprised.

the brush is returned to the bottle and screwed on. a sigh leaves plush lips as he drops it onto his lap and looks straight at his friend.

“ daesung-ah. that is the stupidest thing i ever heard. ” he takes the other's hands in his, raising them to his lips to blow gently on the fresh paint. he gives them a little squeeze. “ you are my bestest friend in the world. i don't love people i don't like. that's so silly. ”

they were soul mates, daesung had said it himself !

“ why are you thinking like this? .... did junsu hyung say something? i'll kill him, i really will ! ”

  “Everyone ogles you, but nobody has the guts to approach.”    Arms crossed in front of his chest, Kiha leans his hip against the nearby table, gaze cast out toward the mass of chatting people. Parties full of humans are so, so fun, a slew of inviting heartbeats and rushing blood. No shortage of fun, no shortage of entertainment. And if he’s lucky, a handsome man to go home with and feed on.

  Tonight, though, it’s one person in particular who’s caught his eye. Not only his, but everyone else’s -- Kiha vaguely remembers a name, remembers seeing his face online. Striking beauty like his deserves a spot amidst all the glitz and glamour, for sure. Kiha quirks a smile. “How lucky for me. I’d hate to contend for your attention with so many others.”

”That photographer was so horrible!” She grumbled as she stabbed her fork into the steak but she could feel from the texture almost immediately that it was going to be melt in the mouth so that took her anger down a few notches. Food could always fix everything for her. Slicing the meat with her knife, she took a hearty bite before almost groaning in pure heaven. A true foodie at heart. Looking over at the male sat opposite her, she gave him a sheepish smile before running a hand through her hair which was stiff from the amount of hairspray.

“I don’t know how I would have made it through that if I didn’t have you with me.”

 Oh, Daesung. Kiha doesn’t have the heart to tell him that the bruise will only last another minute at best. He’d taken a hit for Echo earlier, dragging them out of antagonizing a hunter, of all people. The hunter had lashed out as it had been her good right to, but she’d done it with her bare fist instead of an actual weapon. It was Kiha she’d struck as he’d jumped between them in the last second. With a little more strength behind her punch, she could have easily fractured his jaw. “Like I’d say no to that,” Kiha says, turning his cheek toward Daesung. No longer swollen by now, it’s nothing but an ugly, splotchy bruise, healing so fast it’s no longer blue and purple but a nasty shade of yellow and brown. Kiha pulls him closer by the waist, a grin on his lips. “Who knows, maybe there’s some healing magic in your kisses.”  Daesung rolls his eyes at him. Yet he still leans in to kiss at the hideous mark, lips soft and feathery. Kiha’s chest fills with warmth. If his heart could still beat, it would be skipping, tripping over itself. Closing his eyes, Kiha hums as soon as Dae pulls back.

 Daesung gasps. Brings a hand up to Kiha’s cheek to run his fingers along the bruise – the bruise that no longer exists, judging by that reaction. Kiha grins, opening his eyes again to marvel at Daesung’s wide eyes and open mouth.  God, he’s just so cute sometimes. “Looks like I was right. I should get myself injured more often.” Daesung swats at his arm just as Kiha nuzzles his nose into his hair with a laugh.
