Today I'll like to share a story about an opportunity that I had to practice self compassion. Some years ago I had a live speaking engagement that didn't go as planned. I prepared my talk endlessly but the day before the event I woke up sick. Standing in front of hundreds of people with a fever of 101, I found myself dizzy, distracted and unfocused. A few minutes in, I began stumbling over my words, so there I was live on stage my train of thoughts derailed, struggling to put together sentence after sentence. After the engagement I left for home filled with embarrassment and disappointment, it was a terrible feeling that I couldn't shake off. It wasn't until I mediated that evening that my upset began to shift and self compassion began to arise. A sense of loving kindness washed through me and I was able to recognize that I did my best and could it be okay that it didn't go as planned, could it be alright that my words weren't perfect? and might it be enough that I tried? With this contemplation came a softening around the experience. The embarrassment I held was replaced by a feeling of tenderness, the type of tenderness we rarely offer ourselves as though we are not deserving; but we are and so, on this theme of self compassion see if you can connect with anything that you might be holding right now, self judgement, disappointment, feelings of shame or embarrassment. Come back to that time and seek if it is possible if you can offer yourself self compassion, tap into loving kindness and allow for a wash of loving kindness to flow through you. Let whatever it is you are holding surface and treat it with gentle care and compassion. Take a few moments now to let compassion and tenderness was through you. As Rainer Maria Rilka said "Perhaps everything terrible is in its deepest being, something that needs our love." #selfcompassion #selflove #selfcare #calmmeditation #calmqoute #femaleceo #ladyboss #girlboss #hustlandheart #ladybosslifestyle #bossbabeco #solopreneur #staybossladies #femalepreneur #herbusiness #workitgirl #fempowerment #shemeansbusiness #manifestingmindset #buildingmyempire #girlbosstips #bossladystatus #femaleentrepreneurlifestyle #womeninbusi https://www.instagram.com/p/B9lYPaaJgcv/?igshid=19xdjq5ooy91q

Today is international women’s day and this year’s theme invites us to be bold for change, the call out is an invitation to create a more gender inclusive world. We are living in a time of incredible contrast on one hand we have made momentous progress on the paths towards equality but at the same time there is still so much work to be done. To honor the progress, we’ve made let’s remember and hold in our hearts the many inspiring people who came before us and fought for change. They persevered and sacrificed in the face of grave challenges; they believed the future could be better. Its because our mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers held on to that dream of a better future that progress was made over generations and there were men standing beside them and fighting in solidarity. So today to honor the work that we still need to do perhaps we can reflect on ways that we may have the capacity to be a little more bold in our lives whether is speaking out in the face of inequality, standing up for someone who has been marginalized or living an ideal we want to see brought into this world this is work we can all do no matter what gender we identify with the history of gender inequality is complex and can be hard to understand especially if one doesn’t feel directly impacted. If that’s the case for you perhaps you can ask the women in your life about their experience of being a woman in the world remembering there are as many experiences as there are people. Boldness can take on many forms, start where you are comfortable and then gently push to the edges of your comfort zone and when you do don’t do it alone find support, we need each other. Ultimately, we are not free until we are all free. So today invite you to be bold for as Arundhati Roy said “Another world is not only possible, she is on her way, on a quiet day I can hear her breathing.”#femaleceo #ladyboss #girlboss #hustlandheart #ladybosslifestyle #bossbabeco #solopreneur #women'sday #femalepreneur #herbusiness #workitgirl #fempowerment #shemeansbusiness #manifestingmindset #buildingmyempire #girlbosstips #bossladystatus #femaleentrepreneurlifestyle #womeninbusiness #sisterhoodovercompetio https://www.instagram.com/p/B9d2w8BpUF1/?igshid=9i08g46a3w8n
