WORDS about how they write vriska and john tbh i dont super like it #that said the rest of the words are about HOW FUCKING GOOD THEIR WRITING IS??? #like..... the worldbuilding. exquisite. mwah #i came to first contact for the davekat and rosemary arranged marriage shenanigans and stayed for the engaging political drama #theres so much exploration of like... feferis role and how it contrasts with karkats. #how despite theoretically being the most priviledged member of the system vs someone who the system does not allow to exist at all #they are actually The Same #it made me realize how in like any canon setting non sgrub au. feferi and karkat would be the only two of the group to die before adulthood #like. non debatable! they were not going to make it past their teenage years. #how despite their opposing aspirations for their future #feferi wanting to change the system to be kinder and not based on cruelty #and karkat wanting to prove himself worthy enough to be allowed to uphold the violence of the system instead of being its target #in the end neither actually has a choice. the system would not allow them to take part in it #i think even MORE about the hunger games one #about the stark contrast between canon karkat and the karkat of that universe #how in canon karkat was so gung ho about becoming a tool of the empire and how he glorified cruelty and violence #despite very evidently not being capable or willing to commit that violence deep down! #while in lets play a game he has been raised in a society in which the horror derived from the violence is a core part of the propaganda #and this combined with Being Raised By Kankri And Meulin makes him a person who is in fact VERY aware of his own aversion to hurting others #the divide between karkat's talk with kanaya before the battle where despite understanding and accepting he is not a fighter. #he cannot fathom any way of measuring his worth that isn't intrinsically tied to the battlefield #while karkat in lpag refuses time and time again to allow the world to pain his actions in those terms despite everything #refuses to kill another even framed as kindness and refuses to pretend the death of terezi would be desirable even for his survival #like im obsessed with how these SOUND like inconsistencies but like no??? this IS pretty clearly the kind of person karkat is!! #but hes a lil prospit idiot and is thus even more strongly shaped by his enviroment and the narratives that surround him #and its so fascinating to see how his actions and mindset play out in a different enviroment
