Why I Dislike the Idea of Team Green vs. Team Black 🖤💚
Am I the only one who thinks it's weird how rivalry-focused the House of the Dragon season 2 marketing is?
Disclaimer: I love the idea of putting out trailers for both sides, it's asking the viewers to choose that seems off.
Cause from my view, you just choose your favorite characters randomly. Maybe I like show!Rhaenyra and show! Alicent the same. We can do that. We can root for both. 🤫
Of course you're free to pick a side, it just seems unusual since Westeros isn't the type of world where you'd normally stand fully behind a character, because things can get very messy.
Also I hate when fandoms have beef with each other over things like that, especially when women are pitted against each other (like Sansa and Arya often were) and we talk less about other topics
Choosing a side is an interesting thing to think and talk about but it can make you forget a very cool aspect of fiction as entertainment: you can enjoy things from multiple sides. 😊

“My name is on the lease for the castle.”
“I think it’s more a loyalty thing for Cole. I think it’s his loyalty to Alicent. He wants what she wants. I myself… no comment.”
“Aemond he was bullied and wronged as a kid. They carved his eye out. He bounced back. He put a sapphire gemstone in his eye. And yeah, they’re gonna get what’s coming to them.”
“We have bigger dragons.”
No because it’s the way none of them could actually offer up a reason as to why TG should sit the throne.

i must say i adore different interpretations of posters and nyra's next to aegon's are my favorite here, mostly because of their crowns
1. rhaenyra has hers on her head as a symbol that she is the rightful heir, rightful queen, she accepted her duty and wants to rule as she believes it's her destiny + she also stands straight and looks determinated and quite powerful, confident
2. aegon on the other hand holds his crown in hand and it looks like a) he knows he isn't the rightful king b) knows he doesn't deserve it c) he doesn't want it (if you want to throw jon snow jokes, they better be good) d) the crown was put on him (not only literally but also metaphorically) against his decision, he doesn't keep it on head but also doesn't throw it away; i know that some of the people thinks he looks through the crown on rhaenyra, personally i think he looks directly on the crown as if he was thinking what does it mean to him and what is it worthy + also while he's sitting on the throne, he looks resigned, angrily sad (?) and bit slouchy either because of the consequences of the war or his feelings against team black
also aegon's gesture can be read as if he's playing with the crown (it's the way he holds it) as a metaphor for him playing the king a) remember, he wasn't prepared well to be a king so he doesn't really knows what he's doing, it's a game where he knows very few rules b) otto wants to control him as a puppet, aegon plays the role in his plans
lmao that's me:

I think people overestimate how feminist team black is. If someone brings up how Baela should be the heir to Driftmark, it's always "she would've been Queen if not for the Greens!", ignoring that 1, she would be Queen consort, not a Queen in her own right, and 2 she has a legitimate claim in her own right to Driftmark. Team Black's goal is to crown Rhaenyra, but Rhaenyra becoming Queen isn't a win for feminism because it does nothing to dismantle the rest of the patriarchal system that exists in Westeros. From what we've gotten so far, it reads that Rhaenyra wants to be the exception and not the rule. Rhaenyra has made a lot of bad political decisions, which means she can't acknowledge Baela's claim because it would weaken her own claim (blatantly admitting her eldest sons are illegitimate would not end well for her to say the least). So she betrothes Jace and Luke to Baela and Rhaena to kind of atone for that, like as a consolation prize Baela will be Queen and Rhaena will be lady of Driftmark, neither of them would hold either title in their own right. It's good matches because the kids like each other and will treat each other well, but it's not a feminist win or a feministic liberation. It's usurpation, usurpation that takes place because Rhaenyra has to do damage control after having illegitimate children and after a serious of bad political decisions (both hers and her fathers, Viserys is the arbiter of this entire mess). To me, Rhaenyra is very reminiscent of Mary Queen of Scots, I can see a lot of elements drawn from Mary's history in Rhaenyra's story and character, down to their sons eventually taking the crown they failed to claim/keep.

The new "choose sides" marketing
vs
last year and the year before [pics gotten from Twitter's dragon’s temper.@danypurism]:
They are literally cross-storying this shit.
How are the neutrals--those who were successfully bought into their previous marketing scheme--are feeling about this?

okay maybe it's me but the sentence "all must choose" isn't really about the viewers? it's true for everyone in universe and it represents the way they're no longer trying to reconcile (the way they sometimes tried in season 1)

It's is so funny that they made two trailers & 'pick a team'
Almost all of them are dying. No team is winning. This is not like a sport game. They all will lose & pay with their lives.

I need to shut up about HOTD criticisms for a moment but its genuinely baffling how the showrunners were able to simultaneously write the green children as the most unambiguously evil characters, and the black children as holier-than-thou, buckets of endless joy - but at the same time make the latter the most unbelievably boring, one-dimensional characters, with absolutely no defining characteristics or ambitions.
RIP to Condal and co. but if i was writing a fantasy political soap i would at least take the time to give an inch of depth + nuance to the main cast.

the difference in views it's because of new wigs black team got, I'm telling you, I'll call it jace's locks' strong effect (even though ig harry doesn't wear a wig in s2, thanks gods), you can't watch it just once

Okay so I don’t have the fluffy blanket fabric in red for a dragon, but I do have a fluffy red blanket I can use? It’s not quiiiiite as fluffy, but it’s still pretty darn fluffy, and a nice deep red kind of color, and I really want to make baby Smaug
So I’m thinking I might make baby Smaug (aka a red and gold dragon) next, but before I get started on it I’ll cut out the fabric for another Bucky Bear so I’m one step closer to finishing another auction fill item
