This month Hoop Play turns 10 YEARS OLD! To kick things off, we’re sharing our 10 best moments from the past ten years. . . Moment #9: When we hosted our first instructor training event If you can’t tell from the picture, we’re feeling a 50/50 mix of fear and excitement. When a studio owner in a small town heard about my hoop classes, she insisted I come out and get a program started for her. I told her that I didn’t know how to do that. But her insistence motivated me to figure it out. So, I took the piles of handwritten lesson plans I had created over the years, dusted off my group fitness textbooks, and started putting together our first Instructor Training Manual. I printed it out with our inkjet printer and finished stuffing them into duo-tangs around 2am the night before the event. Of all the adventures our little hoop business has taken us on, this one was by far the greatest! At first we thought we would just spend the summer vending and camping. . .then we decided to host a few instructor training events in the fall. . .and before we knew it we were touring all year long, from Victoria BC to Brampton ON, training over a hundred new instructors, selling thousands of hoops, and stopping in schools along the way! In total we spent one whole year on the road, in our 45 year old RV, with our 4 year old daughter, our cat, and no running water! We strapped our hoops to the roof and stayed in some strange and beautiful places. . . most importantly, we met so many amazing and caring people, many who traded us a hoop lesson for a place to park for the night, and for that we are forever grateful! #sograteful #thankyou #somuchlove #welovecanada #hoopersarekind This month Hoop Play turns 10 YEARS OLD!
