↬ Mandarin Collar Fitted Coat Dress

Catherine first wore this red coat from Eponine London in 2021 as she marked the publication of HoldStill. She brought it out again for a Platinum Jubilee visit to Cardiff in 2021 and for a Pre-coronation visit to Soho in 2022.

This ankle-length coat dress is from the label's AW18 collection. Made from a wool-crepe fabric, it features 6 large buttons, bracelet-length sleeves, pockets, a slit on the front and a mandarin collar.

The coat also has blue lining that has a print of Piet Mondrian’s 'Amaryllis’ on it.

@foppishdandy / @ubcs / dorian gets to see red put together for ONCE because charlie made him - still accepting!!!

"holdstill! You're the one that insisted on coming, Jon."

At first the idea of going to Orlais was funny. "We could be footboys, yea?" Red would say, jabbing Farrell in the side with an elbow while they strolled to the barn to break in new horses. Charlie didn't always get to catch a word with Dorian, but a passing glance sufficed to communicate what the Howard was feeling, brown eyes rolling and a sigh that Red so commonly sucked out of people.

So it was almost comical that the dark blonde man and redhead were arguing over formal attire while the Inquisition was inspecting every person, horse, and inch of dirt before departing to meet Queen Celene. Charlie, kind and caring in his words, managed to squeeze a good thought into Josephine's head to allow the Red Riders to attend.

And here they were, Red Pollard all gussied up for an eventful evening, Charlie making sure they were going the full nine yards. Shirt gleaming white with no stains, blue overcoat making Red's bright eyes shimmer, boots shining, and every piece of thread tailored to his exact measurements. The last piece that Charlie was trying to perfect was the silk scarf that Red needed around his neck, even if he was insisting he was suffering over how stuffy it was.

Charlie would admit that patience was a virtue and he practiced it often with Red, "See, there. Perfect," the blonde man would say, stepping back in his own light blue and golden ensemble, hands crossed behind him but then coming back up to slap Red's fingers away once Red started fussing with every piece of fabric. A glare, a grumble, the Rider's blue eyes making contact once he realized which mage had just witnessed it all - - -

"Dorian, don't say a fucking word," Red would say, almost ruining his carefully crafted curls when running his hand through his hair. There's a polite nod from Charlie, him meeting the mage shoulder to shoulder and commenting,

"Zap him if he starts taking any of it off - - -" ( a careful request, not a demand. )

I know this is not photo fitting exactly in my feed, but I took a walk yesterday to Northern Quarter & found this strong portrait saying a lot. There’s a street lamp nearby covered with stickers, what a coincidence with the symbol of death... “The glossy, hardback tome, Hold Still: A Portrait of Our Nation in 2020, will provide a unique record of the resilience, bravery and kindness shown during the crisis, whilst also encapsulating the utter human tragedy that came alongside it.

The Hold Still book, costing £24.95, will be available from May 7, one year since the project was first launched. Proceeds will be split between mental health charity Mind, and the National Portrait Gallery to help support arts and mental health projects.

It includes highlights from a community exhibition that saw the 100 portraits plastered across 80 billboards and outdoor poster sites last October.”
