Competing in a esport is honestly just an enemies to lovers story because half my friends are people who kicked my ass in bracket at some point and I spent so much time trying to figure out how to kick their ass harder and that manifested in playing a lot of games with them, which is a great way to get to know someone. I ended up with a ton of friends who I fucking despise playing against and then afterwards I go get dinner with them while I talk about how cringe and awful they play. It sounds so toxic but it is literally all just banter and if anything bad were to happen to them outside of the game I would cry.
