ok so like my qween anya taylor joy, edie was born in america but moved abroad when she was super young. her parents split up and her mother, who was impulsive af, moved them to spain. when edie moved back to the us she barely knew english

the bad influence. mateo lives a very healthy life-style, due to his job. he has to keep his body in the best shape, so that means barely any drinking, absolutely no drugs, and no late nights out because of his strict schedule. well, he did come back to visit for a little vacation, and this friend did always have a way with their words. he finds himself being dragged out to places he doesn’t ever frequent against his better judgement.
childhood friend. someone he grew up with and knows him better than he knows himself. someone his siblings consider as another addition to the family.
the ex. also happens to be his first love. their rls lasted a while, with him completely head over heels for her, before he finds out that he’s been cheated on, and he breaks it off with her. however, that never stopped her from calling him on her nights out drinking, and it always ended with him picking her up from the club. it’s been a while, but he can’t seem to shake the hold she has over him, though he knows he won’t ever call her his again.

ophelia’s dad was a total 90s heartthrob. a former child actor who had been plucked from complete obscurity by a talent scout in long beach. think: equivalent of a former mickey mouse club member who took some more serious roles as he grew older, posters on teen girls bedroom walls across the nation he even once capitalised on the love and adoration and had a single titled ‘ready for your love’ by the age of nineteen.
her mother... was a complete nobody in the eyes of the media. her parents had grown up on the same street and somehow kept in contact even when her dad’s career catapulted to new heights. he’d invited her along for a few weeks at a beach house he was renting in hilton hills whern their friendship developed into something more in between the deep talks and late nights spent on the beach. ophelia followed along 9 months later and the headlines weren’t so kind.
somehow, though, their little patchwork family made it work. lia’s fondest memories are of her father’s big heart and her mother’s kindness. always. her mum went to live in his la home and looked after lia during the day while pushing him to audition for more roles in dramas as she knew he had potential. and she was right. by the age of 23, her dad had stood on a stage as one of the academy’s youngest recipients of an oscar.
lia would be the first to admit that the oscar wasn’t just the pinnacle of his career but also the start of a downward spiral that she’s far too young to remember. because whilst he’d dedicated the award to his newborn daughter, he’d also dabbled with hard drugs at the afterparty. it was the catalyst for a whole lot more.
little lia was a bright, bubbly thing! she was the first to offer to put on a play for her parents (and her grandparents when they visited) and v much the self-described leader of any group activity through elementary school. but what she loved most were her summers because every summer her parents would take her to that beach house (now owned) in hilton hills and she’d spend the entirety of it in the sand.
not all was perfect behind closed doors, though. as the pressure of her dad’s drug habit started to take its toll and lia would often come home from school to the sound of her parents yelling at one another. she went from bright and bubbly to bitter and lonely surprisingly fast.
by the time she turned fifteen, her father had been in and out of rehab three times. lia internalised a lot of her feelings about it, particularly when she’d start to get questions at school. questions had always mostly been about her father’s career rather than her or her mum but fifteen was the age where they really started to grind her gears. she was struggling at home, struggling at school due to it and had no outlet for where to put the anger. ‘fuck off and mind your own business’ practically became a slogan.
it was around this time that lia also started to act out. stealing her dad’s credit card to sneak into clubs... hanging out with people at school who she knew her mother would disapprove of... she even got kicked out of her fancy prep school.
she moved out by eighteen and didn’t look back... but she did continue the partying and other bad habits that seemed too difficult to drop. until she turned twenty and her father came to visit. it’d been the fourth time in rehab that stuck. he’d been sober for a year and they had a genuine heart to heart. ophelia wouldn’t necessarily call it a wake up call but it did make her reassess her own behaviour and the path she was on.
lia’s been trying to turn her life around after the past two years. she’s still incredibly outspoken, but she tries to use her platform for good. she’s probably more known for her instagram account these days than the pictures that used to heavily feature in the tabloids of her out partying. she’s thought about maybe following her dad’s footsteps into acting but has honestly been a bit terrified to take the plunge!? which might just be the first time she’s ever been scared at trying something new? so right now she’s doing what she knows best - spending a summer on the beach to readjust.

it wasn’t until her company received unparalled success in america that they decided to split their time between new york & sydney. everywhere elizabeth went, she did the same things that led to her widespread success in australia which were buy out newspapers & tv broadcasting channels. with the launch of right news network in america, elizabeth carlson became one of the most well known names in the world. she ensured that the on air politics were relatively tame to start out, but it wasn’t long before the anchors were peddling dangerous rhetoric. nowadays, right news network is home to flagrant misinformation & manipulation to its uneducated viewers.
aside from being associated with right wing news & harmful stereotypes, right wing media is also home to several production & publishing companies along with movie studios & theme parks across the world. it goes without saying that elizabeth is good at her job. otherwise she wouldn’t have been the first female ceo of a media company & television networks. however, that does not negate how dangerous her role is in politics. multiple presidents have even gone as far as to refer to her as ‘ the most dangerous woman in the world. ’ her networks give a place for politicians to push their hateful rhetoric without any sort of pushback. it’s an echo chamber that breeds nothing but hate & divisiveness.
all their lives, kaia & her brothers have enjoyed the perks & well funded lifestyles courtesy of their mother’s success. private jets, butlers, chefs, yachts, & mansions all across the globe. if it weren’t for their mother heading a multi billion dollar operation, they wouldn’t be able to afford such luxuries. growing up, her brothers would mention their mother’s controversial reputation to kaia in passing. since all three of her brothers are all significantly older than her, they were acutely aware of their mother’s reputation, but it was never spoken about in great length.

by the time she turned ten, kaia’s father filed for divorce. he tried to downplay the situation as best as he could to his children, but the real reasons became front page news when he decided to sit down for an interview. it was during this interview that tayn mentioned how he couldn’t stay married to someone who’s politics pushed white supremacist theories, which ultimately put him & his children at risk due to their maori background. after he walked out of the divorce with eight billion, he moved back to new zealand. no matter how he felt about his ex wife’s politics, he felt as if the children staying in her primary custody was in their best interest. he couldn’t expect them to abandon their lives in sydney & new york to live in new zealand.
as an evident daddy’s girl, this transition was incredibly difficult. it wasn’t that her mother didn’t love her or her brothers. it was that she had an unorthodox wife of showing it. she much preferred to wave a checkbook & have the nanny of the week look after them instead of sitting at the kitchen table to help them with math homework. it wasn’t until two of her brothers began working for her company that elizabeth showed a genuine interest in them. her affection was measured in how useful her children can be & how much money they can help make her.
& for the longest time, kaia planned on one day working for her mother in order to receive the same affection as her brothers. but as she became more aware of the network’s politics as she got older, she realized this wasn’t what she wanted. kaia knew that if she didn’t share the same dna as the ceo then they would be discriminating against her due to her dark features ; a stark contrast to her mother’s fair skin & blue eyes.

born to teenagers in south korea who decided they weren’t ready to be parents , seong miyoung became a child of the system and eventually adopted by a wonderful lgbtq+ couple from new york at the age of three . upon arriving at her new home , she was blessed with her new american name : bailee weiss . growing up , bailee obviously knew that she was adopted , but it was something she didn’t willingly go around sharing with people , because to her the family she had was the only family she had ever had and / or needed .

𝐈𝐈 . 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 :
— both of summer's parents were born & raised in hilton hills . her mother , stacie , was a successful competitive surfer and her father , nico , was the island's star hockey player . stacie had been just sixteen years old when she had discovered she was pregnant with summer . nico left the the night she told him , despite the fact that they had been in a relationship since freshman year . stacie hasn't seen him since . all summer shares with him is a shocking amount of facial features and a last name , which she refuses to go by .
— when she found out that she was having a girl , stacie vowed to her unborn daughter that she would never be the way her own mother had been ; more interested in the bottom of a bottle than her daughter's life . so she became the opposite , an overbearing momager that was determined to make sure her daughter became the best of the best . she had her in the ocean on a surf board before summer had even learned to walk . she was winning competitions at the age of five , and was burnt out at the age of ten . the early morning surfs before school and late night work outs after home work was a lot on a child who just wanted to be a kid .
— summer couldn't fault her mother though , by the time she was sixteen she was a world renowned surfer , winning every competition she entered and getting sponsored by the some of the biggest companies like rip curl and billabong . she still competes competitively , out of pure love for surfing , but summer always craved a different rush than the one she got from surfing . she wanted to save lives . so she became a life guard at the beach , keeping up with all the boys no matter how much they doubted her . it only fueled her determination to prove them wrong .
— after he left , summer's father ended up becoming one of the highest payed athletes in the nhl , then a coach for the new york rangers . out of guilt for abandoning his daughter , he set aside a very large sum of money for her trust fund and sends her overly expensive gifts every month , all of which she refuses to touch . the one exception is the pale yellow 1969 bronco he sent her for her sixteenth birthday , her dream car . blondie the bronco is her pride and joy .
𝐈𝐈𝐈 . 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬 :
— summer is a hard nut to crack . on the inside , she’s soft and sweeter than anything , and she’s definitely secretly a pacifist . but on the outside , she can come off as closed off , and often times even rude or argumentative if you hit the right nerve . she has to really trust you to be able to open up fully .
— there is not one bone in this girl's body that isn't made out of pure stubbornness . it's her vice . will most likely be her downfall .
— she's an early riser . no matter how late she stays up , summer always rises with the sun .
— her favorite color is yellow , usually pastel but she really loves all shades of yellow .
— she's not necessarily innocent , but she is definitely inexperienced when it comes to the dating department . her mom didn't allow her to date until she turned 18 , though summer still found a way to do it behind her back .... what she doesn't know won't hurt her .
— yes , her initials spell sea . yes , her mother did it on purpose .
— speaking of her mom , much to summer's dismay she's known around tangier island as being a milf . but don't talk about it . summer will squeal and cover her ears . and then pout .
— can not hide her emotions to save her life . every emotion she feels will show on her face no matter how hard she tries to hide it , but actually articulating her feelings ? that's a completely different story . even she has no clue what goes on in her head .
— she's always drinking coconut water . you will never see summer without a bottle of it in hand .

izan was born and raised in spain , residing in one of the lower poverty riddened cities along with his mother and younger sister . his father fled to the states when he was ten leaving him to become the sole provider for his family .
found income working on the the cities waterfront district , mainly attending to the boating dock which is where his nautical expertise was formed . saved practically all of his earnings that weren’t deducted from living costs to one day move him and his family to the states .
when he turned 18 , they eventually were able to move to new york and from there everything looked up for the cadenas family . his mother got a good paying job while his sister attended college leaving izan to finally start living for himself .
hilton hills . figured he’d make a living in one of the more wealthy vacation spots in ny , quickly getting a job as a yacht host simply by just walking onto the dock . has been here for two years and can’t complain .

believes in living life to the fullest . he’s been down dark roads before but has never wavered in his belief that everything happens for a reason . isn’t tooo pushy of it onto other people though unless they specifically ask for his point of view or his help !
not a player but not a prude either sjfdks . he’s definitely a ladies man but would never deliberately hurt someone or be malicious . he’s never been in a relationship though so he has his work cut out for him .
takes a lot for him to get angry or violent , usually is pretty good with brushing off nonsense but catch him on a bad day and it can get really ugly <3
his occupation might sound a little confusing but really it just means he’s the guy working the yacht for all the rich people renting or booking his services for the day . making drinks / docking the boat / attending to whatever they need . he gets paid extremely well but you wouldn’t know because he isn’t boastful or arrogant .
since hilton hills is filled with non locals right now — he isn’t starstruck or phased by it at all sdkfj he’ll treat you like just your average person which some might admire or find annoying but nonetheless its what you get :)
