This is a bloody incredible series, and it hits even harder now that we've experienced a full blown pandemic. It's takes place in a world where we won a zombie apocalypse, but I describe it as: "It's about zombies the same way Animal Farm is about pigs."
Seanan McGuire AKA Mira Grant gives an overview of the series in this fantastic interview (from 2012):
The basic concept behind the Newsflesh trilogy is that in 2014 the Zombie Apocalypse happened, and it took us about three years, but around 2017, 2018, we actually managed to win. A lot of people died, a lot of land was permanently ceded, but we came out on top. So 20 years pass, and you have an entire generation of people that’s grown up in a world where zombies just are. They’re not something special. They’re not something exciting. They just are. And people go on, people do what they do.
It also includes gems like:
I would call [the CDC] back and say, “If I did this, this, this, this, this and this, could I raise the dead?” And every single time they would say, “No.”
And I’d say, “OK,” hang up, and go back to working. After about the 17th time, I called and said, “If I did this, this, this, this, this, this and this, could I raise the dead?” And got, “Don’t … don’t do that.” And at that point, I knew I had a viable virus.

this is random but i saw your tags about a daniel hearing loss fic and i really want to read it!! do you by chance remember the name or any other details about it?
Hello!
Yes yes it’s and watch the setting sun by @catofthecanals289 !
It’s such a cute fic where Daniel experiences some hearing loss and Max helps him through that. Inspired by some pictures of Daniel wearing ear plugs in Vegas! It’s a really cute and sweet fic that I would recommend it so much!!!

I've been movie binging for the last few months and I finally watched Jojo Rabbit-- GOD, THAT MOVIE DESTROYED ME IN TOO MANY WAYS. TOO MANY.
It destroyed me SO much to the point where I consider it one of my all time favorite films now!
Definitely doing more scene exercises from this film because it's just too GOOD AGHHHH 😫😫😫😫 Just a visually stunning, disturbingly beautiful, hilariously executed film.

If anyone wants any recommendations for something to watch whilst they wait for the next episode of ‘the rookie’ and have already rewatched several times, I suggest
Rewatch again ? This never fails
If you want something new whilst you wait, I highly recommend ‘Bones’. It’s on Disney plus if you have it, or if not I’m fairly sure it’s online.
Reasons to watch ‘Bones’
It’s similar to ‘the rookie’ in a way. Focused on the lives of forensic anthropologists and FBI, so there’s always some drama happening.
It also has many comedic elements and it’s hard not to fall in love with the characters
Definite found family vibes
12 seasons. Blessing.
Has one of my favourite ships in it. They also have a really satisfying slow burn and an incredible journey. And you’re not going to end up heartbroken by it. (By the ship, but i can’t promise you won’t be in other areas of the show ) 🤣
There’s always a new case every episode that you figure out along with the characters, so if you like that part of the rookie then you’ll definitely enjoy it.
I’ll say it again, the ship!
