favourite headcanon about the show?
That Zulay was as big of a villainous asshole as her husband (Potentially bigger). Greedy, ambitious and plotting alongside him, my favourite headcanon is that she recruits him into the Dragon Eyes as their leader and was critical to co-found their gear empire. Also, that she was a huge influence on him, to the point where it colours a lot of Word's present day actions/personality even posthumously.
Canon mentions that the two were combative of each other, but I prefer my headcanons that Word quite happily followed in her footsteps as her resident evil genius inventor in her arsenal. (Let a lady wanna rule the world!!!)
Also that she loved her family a great deal and never had that second guessing moment the writers gave her lol. If she remained alive, Word and Zulay would have easily taken over Dragon city before Artha's time. Her death is essential to derail the Dragon Human War efforts by about 16 years, with Word cobbling together resources such as Wraith Gear in order to fill in the gaps her death left.

Fix a Heart 17
Chapter 17 - Someone Somewhere Tonight.
Someone somewhere tonight Is taking their first steps Letting go of the hands that held them And trusting themselves While someone somewhere tonight Is hearing their last rites And hoping with all their might That there's something else Well, babe, lie down here beside me And let's lie real still And tell me you love me And you always will
"Okay munchkin, you ready to go down the slide?" Sharna asked her nephew.
"Yes! Yes!" He said clapping happily. Sharna smiled and followed him over to the slide that he kept returning to. She was keeping the three year old that day because his parents had their ultrasound to see if Mr. Shai was getting a brother or a sister in the fall.
"Is the slide your favorite little man?" Sharna said as he reached out his hand to hold hers.
"Yes! Zoom." He giggled. He started up the steps as she stood behind him. She waited until he was safely at the top and sitting before she went to move to the bottom. However before she got there to catch him, someone else grabbed him.
"Hey!" Sharna yelled immediately.
"Sharna!" Shai yelped immediately.
"You don't fucking pick up other people's kids. Now give him to me." Sharna said moving to go after the person. She looked around quickly for anyone who could help however everyone who had been in the park seemed to have disappeared.
"That's where you're wrong. I do and I won't. Told you I'd be back for you." The person said making Sharna's blood run cold. The person lifted their head and she could finally see their eyes.
"Give him back." Sharna repeated with a hard shake to her voice. She knew she didn't sound very convincing.
"Oh hell no. He's mine.  I told you, you were going to pay for everything you little bitch. He's mine now. He's the last one." Paul said in a seething voice.
"Sharnaaaaaaa." Shai wailed trying with everything in him to get to his aunt.
"What do you mean?" Sharna said as the last sentence Paul had said resonated in her.
"Hush." Paul said looking at Shai with a glare. Shai stopped screaming for Sharna however his tears continued.
"Give him to me. He'll be calm with me at least." Sharna pleaded.
"Why so you can run? Oh hell no. Helllll no." Paul said moving closer and grabbing Sharna's wrist with such force that she thought it was going to snap.
"Give him to me." Sharna repeated pushing the pain out of her mind. She had to focus on Shai. She needed to get him safe.
"No! Now walk!" He said dragging them both. He got them to his car and shoved her in before more or less throwing Shai into her lap.
"Shhhh, it's okay munchkin, I have you now. You're safe. Aunt Sharna will keep you safe." Sharna repeated over and over as Shai clung to her, his sobs increasing.
"Make him shut up!" Paul yelled as he got in the driver's side.
"I'm trying. Maybe if you wouldn't have scared the hell out of him, he wouldn't have been panicking like this." Sharna snapped.
"You're gonna pay for that one bitch. You'd think you'd have learned to respect me. Maybe I'll make you be the one who does the final one." Paul sneered.
"What are you talking about?" Sharna said again.
"You'll find out soon enough bitch." Paul snapped once more before returning to the road. Sharna opened her mouth but her maternal instincts kicked in and she  started to calm Shai. She also was intent on keeping him safe considering they were both just chucked into a backseat. She eventually calmed Shai to the point that he wasn't scream sobbing and just clutching her body. It was then that they pulled into a building.
"Out." Paul commanded going to take Shai from her.
"No. I'll go willingly but you let him stay with me. He's settled some." Sharna snapped.
"Let's go." Paul said grabbing her arm and almost making her trip. He dragged them into a building that was pitch black. Shai whimpered in Sharna's arms as the door slammed shut.
"Shh baby, it's okay. I have you." Sharna said pressing her lips to his head.
"For now....." Paul muttered as he flipped on the light switch. "Welcome to your worst nightmare."
The entire room was covered in photos. Photos of her and Val, Val, her, Maks, Peta, Maks and Peta, Shai, Laurie, James, just photos of everyone. They were placed in a circular shape all leading to the 3 pictures in the middle. Those pictures showed Mak, Peta, and Val all......
"Shar, Sharna, SHAR! Wake up, come on princess wake up." Val's voice suddenly shook Sharna from the nightmare that was currently inhabiting all of her senses.
"NOOO!" She said shooting straight up and out of the bed.
"Hey, hey, hey, you're here. You're safe baby. I'm right here. It wasn't real." Val said moving to the end of the bed not touching her however to not set her off further.
"He...you...dead..." Sharna said as she began to pace back and forth. Then she started to gag, the intensity of the situation turning her stomach inside out. She shot for the bathroom making it just in time.
"I'm with you. But I won't come over until you're ready." Val said softly. He wanted her to know he was right there. She gagged a few more times before waving him over to her. He came quickly and wrapped his arm around her. She sank into him as she went to grip his body. She shook with a fierceness that he had never felt before.
"He killed you, all of you. And was going to get after Shai in front of me." She finally whispered. The thought of everything making her gag again. He let her go enough so that she could do what she needed before he pulled her back into him.
"I need....Shai...I just need to...." Sharna said as she went to pull away from him. He understood what she wanted and helped her stand. The second she was in the hallway though she screamed again.
"Whoa babe, it's just us. We heard you scream and we came over." Peta said catching Sharna from stumbling.
"Shai." She muttered and pulled away. Peta let her go however looked at Val to figure out what had happened.
"She had a nightmare. Paul killed us all and was going to kill Shai in front of her. I think she needs to see he's okay." Val said moving away from the group to go after his wife.
"Shar...." He said softly coming up behind her. She jumped initially however moved to lean into him.
"He's okay." She murmured.
"He is, and us, and you. We're all okay." Val said soothingly. She nodded however her body shook still in his arms.
"I just....."
"I know princess, I know. Come on, let's let him sleep." Val said. She agreed and let him lead her out of the toddler's room. Maks and Peta were waiting in the hallway. Peta held her arms out and caught her best friend quickly, holding her tight as she swayed them. Val could see Sharna's tears start up again. Peta held her for a  long time until she finally pulled way.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I woke you guys up." Sharna said as she wiped her face furiously.
"No babe, no. This wasn't your fault. You're okay. I'm just glad you're....well....you know. We'll get you through this. This is your life. He doesn't get to take it over again." Peta said softly holding onto Sharna's hands. She rubbed her thumb over the back of them keeping her eyes on hers.
"Thank you." Sharna said weakly. Peta just shook her head and pulled her friend into her again. They hugged for a few moments before she let her go. Maks stepped in hesitantly as well and once Sharna nodded, he wrapped her up in a hug as well.
"We're going to let you get back to Val. You know where to find us if you need us." Peta said.
"Thanks guys. Come on princess." Val said gently as Sharna's body sunk into his.
"I don't want to go to the bed." Sharna said freezing when he tried to lead them back to their room.
"Baby, you at least need to rest." He said moving to stand in front of her.
"I can't do it again Val. Not tonight. I...I can't. If you want to go back to bed that's okay, but I'm going to go downstairs." Sharna said moving to pull away.
"No, I get it. I just....I'm worried. I'll come with you." She watched him skeptically for a minute before she nodded and turned to go downstairs. She went into the sun room and sat on the center of the couch. He grabbed their usual blanket and settled next to her. He drew her body into his before wrapping the blanket around them. They fell into a comfortable silence as she clung to him. Eventually her shaking stopped however her tears started to soak through his shirt.
"He can't hurt you guys. Val, he can't." She whispered as she shuddered against him.
"He won't." Val responded with a fierceness that she wanted so badly to believe.
"Val, you can't promise that."
"I can't. But we're going to the police in the morning. We'll find out what we need to do. I'll keep you safe princess. You're safe here." Val said as he rubbed her back while holding her as tightly as he could.
"They aren't going to be able to do anything. We don't have any proof. It was all verbal. We know from the last time that it only all stuck because we had my phone."
"Well, we'll find out what we need to do. How we need to prove it. I promise. Okay?"
"Okay." Sharna said as quietly as possible. She pressed into him tighter as she shook again.
"What do you need baby?"
"I don't know...this....just you. I just....the dream. It was so real. Shai's cries. The pictures. Just everything."
"It's gone now. I know I can't erase those pictures or those feelings but it's not real. We're here. We're all safe. And as soon as it's morning, we'll go down to the police station and see what we can do." Val said as his lips lingered against her head.
"Will you just talk? It sounds silly but your voice. It keeps me in the present." Sharna requested.
"Not silly at all princess. I can definitely do that." Val said as he began to talk about mindless stuff. He talked about his meetings earlier that day, he talked about their upcoming plans, he talked about things they could do with Maks, Peta, and Shai now that it was summer. When he ran out of things to talk about, he went and found the current book she was reading and read that to her. Eventually exhaustion won out and she fell asleep in his arms. He shifted her into him, cocooning her in his arms. He said a prayer that the safety of his arms would keep the nightmares at bay at least for tonight. He stayed awake as long as he could but eventually he drifted off as well.
****************************************************************************************
They were woken up the next morning by a tiny body climbing on both of them.
"Sha-na. Vallll." Shai's little sing song voice echoed in the room.
"Hey munchkin." Sharna said in a scratchy voice.
"Yous seepin." He said as he snuggled into her.
"I was. I'm not now though. Uncle Val is." Sharna said as she felt her husband slowly wake up under her.
"Awake!" He said quickly before the two could even concoct a plan.
"Shai! I told you they were sleeping." Peta said appearing in the room.
"I hug em." Shai said with a shrug.
"It's okay P. What time is it?" Sharna asked.
"10."
"10!"
"We wanted to let you guys sleep while you could. I mean we knew the night you had. That's why I was trying to keep this little monster away."
"Oh, well, I mean Shai wake ups aren't that bad. It just means the tickle monster may be coming out soon." Sharna said as her fingers started working on her nephew eliciting giggles. Val smiled seeing her grin.
"Momma! Save me!" Shai yelped as he attempted to scramble off the couch. Peta came to the rescue and scooped him up.
"I got you. Come on, let's go get the coffee. I'm sure they need it." Peta said settling Shai on her hip as they headed out of the room.
"Morning." Val said gently tipping them so Sharna was against the couch and he could see her face.
"Morning." She whispered as she shifted to press into his neck.
"No more nightmares last night at least." He said pulling back to give her a kiss but then allowing her to press back into him.
"No thank god. I can't believe I fell asleep."
"You needed it. Yesterday was a rough one and today is going to be just as intense I'm sure."
"Yeah, we need a cave. A cave that no one knows about. And then we could block out the whole world."
"Now that sounds perfect."
"Cofeeeeee!" Shai said appearing back in the sun room before darting back out when Peta yelled.
"Meh, i wouldn't block him out." Sharna said laughing as she decided they should get up. Val stood up and helped her up as they headed into the kitchen. Shai immediately scrambling for Sharna. Maks appeared as well and they all talked about their plans for the day. After some arguing on Sharna's end since she felt like she was taking over everyone's life, they came to an agreement. Maks, Peta, and Shai were going to stay at home for awhile while Val and Sharna went to the police station. Once they were done they would all meet up at Val and Sharna's for some more family time. Maks and Peta stated they wanted to know what was going on and Peta just wanted to be there for her friend. Val and Sharna headed home to get showered and changed.
"Val, can you grab that?" Sharna said as she heard her phone ringing while she was in the bathroom.
"Hello?" Val answered the call.
"Hello, this is Officer Jeffery Parks with the New Jersey state police. I'm looking for a Sharna Chmerkovskiy."
"Umm, she's currently busy however this is her husband. Can I help you with something?"
"Well, it's important that we speak with Mrs. Chmerkovskiy. We actually wanted to see if we could have her come down to the local station so we could talk to her."
"I mean we can do that but what's going on?"
"It's concerning a Paul Kirkland. We'll talk more when you guys come down."
"I....okay. We'll be down shortly. It's the office on 5th and West right?"
"Right. Just tell them you're there to see me. They'll bring you to me."
"Ok. Thank you."
"Val, who was it." Sharna said appearing in the bedroom.
"The police."
"Excuse me?"
"Yeah, they wanted to talk to you about Paul. They asked that we come down."
"Val." Sharna said as her face went white. He saw her knees buckle and caught her just in time.
"I have you. It's going to be okay." Val said holding her tightly.
"Why?" She murmured.
"I don't know but whatever it is, I'll be right there with you." He whispered as she nodded into him. "Are you ready? We can go now and get it over with."
"Yeah, I just need shoes." She whispered as she pulled away from him and grabbed her shoes. He waited and then slipped his hand in hers once she was ready. The drive to the station was silent as can be however Sharna kept her hand in Val's as much as she could. Once they were there, he tucked her into his side and they headed in.
"Can I help you?" A desk worker asked the two.
"Yes, we're here to see Officer Jeffrey Parks. I'm Val Chmerkovskiy and this is my wife Sharna Chmerkovskiy. She was the one the called down."
"Give me one moment. Let me just check that he's still in the same room." The lady said standing up and moving to look back into the rooms. "Come with me."
"Officer Parks. I have Mr. & Mrs. Chmerkovskiy for you."
"Thank you Lauren. Please you two, come in, have a seat."
"So not to be blunt but what is this about?" Val said cutting right to the chase.
"Well, last night, we were called to a suspicious vehicle on 17th and Cranberry."
"By our house?" Sharna whispered.
"Yes, unfortunately. When we arrived to the scene, we found Mr. Kirkland in the car however when we found it, he was dead."
"Dead?" Val said shocked.
"Yes. And along with him, we found a note as well as a multitude of photographs of you, Mrs. Chmerkovskiy. Now we typically wouldn't pull people in here for something like this however when we researched everything we did find your past restraining order against Mr. Kirkland. That mixed along with the pictures and the note which also was addressed to you is the reason why we wanted to bring you in here and tell you about what had happened." Sharna just sat there silently. Her face as white as a ghost.
"So, it's just that. That he's gone?" Val asked.
"Yes, it was clearly self inflicted so there won't be much investigation. The only other thing is that once the note is done, we are required to ask if you'd like it."
"No." Sharna said immediately.
"Shar."
"No. I want it all over." She said before falling silent again.
"Okay, we'll dispose of it at the end of the investigation. And honestly that's all we needed from you guys at this point. If we'd turn up anything further we can contact you if you'd like."
"Only if it's necessary. Thank you for telling us." Val said shaking the officer's hand.
"You're welcome. I do hope this gives you some peace." Officer Parks said watching Sharna. He had seen that the restraining order had originally been for 6 months however had been extended an additional year. He assumed whatever had cause the lady to turn that white had been horrible so as much as he didn't like the death aspect of his job he was glad that this was no longer something she'd have to deal with in her life.
"Thank you." Sharna whispered shaking his hand as well. The two headed back out and Val walked Sharna to her side of the car.
"Princess." He said softly as he waited for her to get in.
"I just want to go home Val." She said as her eyes caught his and he could see the exhaustion in them.
"Okay." He said leaning forward and kissing her softly before shutting her door and moving to his side. He slipped his fingers into hers and they headed home. Once they got there, she slid out of her side and headed into the house. He followed her however left her be. She walked over to the couch and settled into it. She pulled her knees up to her chest and rested her head on her knees.
"Where did you go?" She said after he hadn't appeared next to her for a bit.
"Back here. I wasn't sure what you needed." He said coming around to the front side of the couch.
"I honestly don't know." She said as she watched out the window. She held out her hand to him and he came and settled beside her. She uncurled her body and laid in his lap. His hand automatically went to her curls as he fiddled with them.
"How are you?"
"Relieved however I feel like that's not the way to feel so I feel guilty but I'm glad it's over. I, just the thought of him out there and not knowing what he could have been doing. I mean Val they found him near our house. He could have been intending on doing anything."
"He could have. But it's over. We don't even have to worry about what he said yesterday. I mean it doesn't change anything however but it's still. I don't know."
"What if....?" Sharna trailed off with a dying question on her lips.
"No, don't go there. No matter what, it's over now. You could go through all the what ifs in the world however none of them are going to make sense."
"Remember when we fought about going to see a therapist?"
"Yeah, that was the morning before the wedding."
"Right."
"Are you...."
"I think. Do you think we can look? Just see if we can find someone?"
"We can definitely do that princess."
"Will you come with me?" She said suddenly becoming very shy.
"Hey, look at me baby." He said catching her sudden nerves.
"Yeah?"
"I will be with you every step of the way. I know today's news has yet to settle in yet completely but when it does I'll be here. When you find someone you want to talk to, I'll be there. I'll do anything and everything you need okay. And you don't have to worry about being shy or scared because I love you."
"I love you too." She said as tears filled her eyes. He was right, today's news while just the top layer of ice, it had been huge. It wasn't fully settled in yet and while she was currently just feeling relieved that it was over so to speak, she knew that there was so much more to deal with. However she knew she had the best person to help her deal with that.
Someone somewhere tonight Is stuck in a prison And they're breathing, they're just barely living Behind walls of their own But someone somewhere tonight Just found their own wings Found some beauty, found some truth, found some meaning In spite of it all Well, babe, lie down here beside me And let's lie real still And tell me you love me And you always will
