Random thought but I have a cousin who can spend an hour or more doing crochet bc to her it's relaxing and keeps her hands busy which is kind of insane to me? Bc I have a hard time comprehending doing just one thing for hours with few breaks.

Like in comparison I enjoy art as much my cousin enjoys crochet but if I have nothing to play in the bg to keep me focused on said art, my attention span just plummets. I'm not talking lofi or music either. They're fine when I'm in the mood but it's not too strong of a thing(?) for my mind to latch on while my hands are busy. It has to be either documentaries, video essays, or, more often than not in my case, fics.

Makes me really glad that I discovered the text to speech option for them after downloading. Video essays are great but I prefer listening to stories while drawing. The downside is that I need the RIGHT stories to listen to and have a steady supply of them that would last me hours (preferably ones with over 100k words).

Sometimes I wish things were different and I could do art the same way I did my studying (very rare but when I do it, I can handle an hour of it with lofi playing softly in the bg. Its more realistic to me than emulating my cousin who can do it with zero distractions). Unfortunately I get too twitchy at the thought. I mean it's not so bad bc I get to enjoy fics and art at the same time, but I always worry that I'll end up running out of (good) fics to listen to and my attention span won't be able to function without its crutch.
