GAME GIRLS Documentary by Alina Skrzeszewska France / Germany 2o18 Language: English Skid Row in Los Angeles is the infamous ‘homeless capital’ of the USA. Anyone who is trying to learn the rules of the game and survive here has a really tough time, as the stories of the two protagonists of this film, Teri and Tiahna, reveal. Life for this lesbian couple is a constant round of prison, alcoholism and drug peddling, but there is hope, too. Their biographies are typical for the lives of Afro-American women living on the edge of American society. During a workshop initiated by the filmmaker for women in this community, they address their memories and their traumas and embark on a process of transformation during which they come into view as self-determining subjects rather than as victims. Social protests against homelessness in the neighbourhood, or the ‘Black Lives Matter’ campaign are just as much a part of their lives as is the matter-of-fact way in which they choose to live as lesbians, or their bitter struggle with the authorities for their own four walls. The film’s intimate, observational camerawork helps tell the story of two women who manage to escape Skid Row but who are nonetheless bound by the constraints of their environment.

Wie verorten sich Personen, die sich nicht einfach als männlich oder weiblich identifizieren, in einer Gesellschaft, die fast ausschließlich diese beiden Identitäten anbietet und wie erleben diese Personen eine Schwangerschaft?

A WOMB OF THEIR OWN stellt verschiedene männliche Personen und ihre Erfahrungen mit der eigenen Schwangerschaft auf eine sensible und humorvolle Art und Weise vor. Die (werdenden) Eltern lassen die Zuschauenden an ihren eigenen Vorstellungen von Gender,  Familie, Schwangerschaft und Elternschaft als nicht binäre, männliche Person teilhaben - ein nach wie vor häufig unsichtbares und somit besonders wichtiges Thema.

First of all, thank you for the sweet words!! I now have a huge smile on my face! I'm using Krita, which I can only recommend (plus, it's free)! I mainly used the "hardpainting 06 on wet canvas" brush for the colors, it has this cool effect that makes it look like you painted on actual paper and it also mixes the colors in such a nice way

I've been contemplating a lot where i want to go with digital art bc I've mainly been using the Ibis Paint app on an android tablet for the longest time! I kinda want to get a laptop with a drawing tablet someday to use! But stuff is expensive :/ and i know theres a Krita app for my device, and I've tried it, its good but its hard to use. sorry for rambling a lil bit there Anyway... I truly mean every word I say when I compliment someones artwork, and by golly you deserve it bc art is frickin hard!!
